Top Tips For Creating a “Pro” Looking Newsletter

Filed under: Publishing — admin @ 9:24 pm

Television, radio, advertising in newsprint or other print can
put a huge dent in your advertising budgets. Simply put, it just
becomes too expensive for the small business owner. What’s the
alternative? Newsletters are the alternative to the high cost of
advertising, and yet it is an excellent marketing tool for your
business. While saving a ton of money using this form of
advertising, many big companies and small companies are using
newsletters weekly, monthly to indirectly promote their products
and services these days. What does that say about using this
form of marketing? Everyone is on the same playing field when it
comes to newsletters! The key thing with newsletters is, which
ones get read? You want to make sure that it gets done right, so
you will be guaranteed that all your work putting together a
newsletter won’t go unnoticed.

In this section, read the top tips on how to create a ‘pro’
looking newsletter that will jump start a steady trail of
traffic to your website.

CONTENT AND FOCUS:

Your newsletter should focus on a subject in which you have a
great deal of knowledge. If you have a website that is geared
towards a specific product or service, you should take into
consideration what the focus of your site is. For instance,
let’s say that you specialize in Internet Marketing, you
wouldn’t write articles about ‘Automobiles.’ Articles should
have content on different marketing strategies and trends in
your field. Content is still king. I’m sure you’ve heard that
phrase throughout the web. Make sure what you write about has
substance to it and will hook the reader. A poorly written
article with not so great content will not get your newsletter
read. Make sure you start on the right foot with great and
interesting content.

SPELLING AND GRAMMAR:

Proofread all your content for grammar usage and spelling. There
is nothing worse than reading a newsletter with all kinds of
errors in them. If you’re anything like me, I have this pet
peeve on misspelled words and improper grammar usage. Have other
people proofread your content and make adjustments just to make
sure that you didn’t miss anything. It just doesn’t look
professional when you have all these mistakes in your
newsletter, and it won’t get visitors to come back to read more
errors!

TITLE:

Your title should sound intriguing and tell your potential
customers exactly what your publication is all about. The title
of your ezine is one of the most important keys in getting your
newsletter read. Be creative, and use different titles that
would get your publication listed towards the top instead of the
bottom. By doing that, you will give your publication an
advantage over the publications listed below yours. Many ezine
sites list their publications in alphabetical order, so when
coming up with a title, use the first three letters in the
alphabet, i.e. “Online Secrets”, you should say, “Advertising
Tips and Secrets.” You will be listed higher, which will put you
in a position to get the click through.

NEWSLETTER SCHEDULE:

You can publish your newsletter as many times as you like, but
the norm is once a month for most companies since they take time
and effort to formulate a quality newsletter. Anything that is
quickly put together at the last minute is probably not going to
be your best work. Just make sure that once you decide the time
frame or how often you will be sending out your newsletter, that
you stick with that. The worst thing you can do is to have
subscribers expecting a newsletter on the ‘first Wednesday’ of
each month, and for it not to be there. Stick and adhere to your
publication dates. No exceptions allowed.

STYLE:

The appearance of your site is one of the most important factors
in determining the success of your newsletter. A professionally
written, well-designed, content rich publication will guarantee
that your subscribers will return each time your newsletter goes
out. Keeping them there is the key. Only provide good quality
newsletters, with interesting and practical articles.

LAYOUT:

The format of your newsletter should resemble exactly or very
similar to the layout of your website. This keeps the
subscribers in familiar territory when they are viewing your
newsletter, they are able to pinpoint which website that
particular newsletter belongs to. If you do your research, good
newsletters are the ones that have the same format, color theme,
and similarity to their websites.

COLOR:

The color should reflect the colors of your current website.
Always use good taste in selecting colors. You don’t want to use
colors that are distracting or not pleasing to the eye. Three
basic colors within your newsletter is a good guide to go with.
Any more colors than three, can make your newsletter appear very
over stimulating and cluttered. Take a good look at your
website, from there, you should be able to come up with a
professional looking newsletter.

TABLE OF CONTENT: Include a table of content at the top of the
newsletter. This will allow the readers to scan the topics to
see if anything in the newsletter catches their interests. It
just shows a bit of organization as well as a sense of
professionalism when you provide a table of content to your
newsletter.

OPT-IN AND OPT-OUT:

Always give your subscribers the option to opt-in or opt-out to
receive your newsletters. If you’re concerned about why they
decided to stop subscribing to your newsletter, then by all
means, follow up with the customer and find out why they no
longer want to receive it. By offering them the option to
receive or not receive, is a good practice of common courtesy
behavior that you strongly adhere to. You wouldn’t want to keep
receiving newsletters that you politely asked to stop receiving?
Put yourself in their shoes by respecting their wishes.

TEST IN DIFFERENT FORMATS:

With the nature of the Internet and the various types of
programs that subscribers have, you may need to have several
formats for your newsletters for your subscribers to have the
ability to view them. Test them to your computer to make sure
that the font, size, and the style still comes out attractive
looking in various formats. If they are not to your liking, then
you may need to tweak them a bit until you are satisfied with
the look and outcome depending on the format. This does seem
like a bit of work, but you want to reach those customers who
don’t have the newer, faster programs.

Having your own newsletter will not only enable you to keep in
touch with your visitors, but will only increase your database
of targeted customers. Newsletters are cheap, and should be a
part of every small business owners’ marketing strategy. It will
be one of the best marketing decisions you will make.

The #1 Way to Overcome Procrastination

Filed under: Guidance — admin @ 4:31 pm

“Never handle the same piece of paper twice.”

This oft-heard bit of advice kept swimming through my thoughts
as I stared at the piece of paper in front of me, wondering what
on earth to do with it. Not that this was the first time I’d
touched this particular piece of paper. Not the second, nor the
third. In fact, I’d tossed this sucker back into my in-bin
several times during the last two months.

The time had come to do something with it.

But what? I’d already asked my boss for clarification on the
assignment–twice. And who knew how many minutes I’d spent, on
and off, studying it, mulling over it, and feeling guilty about
not doing anything with it. It had become my nemesis, this piece
of paper. How could I make it disappear, once and for all? Why
did I keep procrastinating on this one task?

That’s when it hit me. Maybe I had at last asked myself the
right question. Instead of “what do I do with this?”, perhaps
the real question was “why am I *not* doing this?”

Intrigued by this new insight, I looked at the piece of paper
again. Within seconds, the answer came to me. I kept putting
this task off because I simply didn’t have enough information to
complete it. And asking my boss for assistance hadn’t helped
because she wasn’t a subject matter expert on this topic,
either. But I did know someone who was, and I knew that person
would be more than happy to help me.

I was finally on my way to making that piece of paper go away.
Moreover, I’d learned a very important lesson on how to deal
with procrastination in the process.

During my research on this topic, I discovered an article by Dr.
Kent T. Yamauchi at Virginia Tech, in which he listed three main
causes for procrastination: inadequacy, discomfort and
perfectionism. On top of this, the tendency to procrastinate
something often increases exponentially with our desire to
complete it; therefore, the more important the goal is to our
feeling of success and well-being, the more reasons we find to
put off doing it.

So here we are, many of us, putting off returning to school, or
writing that book, or starting our business, or whatever it is
that we resolve year after year to do–but don’t.

So how do you overcome this powerful procrastination tendency?
By asking yourself *why* you keep doing it. Is it because you
feel inadequate to complete the task? Or does thinking about
doing it make you uncomfortable? Or do you feel that if you
can’t do something perfectly, you don’t want to do it t all?
Once you understand the “why” behind procrastinating, you’ve
taken a major first step towards dealing with it.

In my situation with that miserable piece of paper, I’d felt
inadequate to perform the task correctly. I needed more
information. Once I realized that, I was able to take steps to
get the information I needed, and the urge to put the task off
disappeared.

What if I had realized instead that I was uncomfortable
performing the task? Let’s say the assignment was something that
struck me as unethical, or that I perceived would cause me harm
or embarrassment. Again, had I come to these realizations, I
would better know what steps to take to address them. Maybe I
would have expressed these concerns to my boss, instead of
simply asking her for clarification, or perhaps I would have
suggested that it be reassigned to someone more capable of
performing it safely.

As for perfectionism…this is perhaps the most potent cause for
procrastination. While striving to do one’s very best in each
endeavor is admirable, settling for nothing less than perfect
stops us from even trying. At the 1976 Olympics Nadia Comaneci
made history, becoming the first gymnast to ever score a perfect
10. Could she have achieved such an accomplishment without a
great deal of efforts, or hundreds of hours of practice? Of
course not.

So, if you’re putting off something that means a great deal to
you, ask yourself: Is it because you feel inadequate to perform
it? Then turn to those who can help you sharpen your skills.
Does the task cause you discomfort? Perhaps you need to break it
down into smaller tasks, until you can build up a comfort level
that allows you to try something greater. Are you a
perfectionist? Recognize the truth in “practice makes perfect,”
and practice, practice, practice.

And one more thing–try not to ever handle the same piece of
paper twice.

Google Blog Search: What You Should Know

Filed under: Blogging Stuff — admin @ 2:39 pm

Google is moving in so many directions, it can be somewhat
difficult to keep track of all the services and tools
offered by this premium search engine. For the seasoned
webmaster as well as the ordinary surfer, keeping a clear
picture of what Google is offering is sometimes a little
overwhelming.

Recently, there has been a deluge of new products from
Google. If you hit the ‘more’ button on the Google Home
page, you will see a smattering of Google services and
tools. Including Desktop 2, Print, Maps, Google Earth…
you can even search and browse mail-order catalogs.

Now comes Blog Search - where Internet users can now
search blogs for their information. This is a welcomed
service, especially for bloggers. Google’s embracing of
blogs started with the purchase of Blogger.com and got
sidetracked with the ‘costly’ argument over which
syndication standard to use. Most favored RSS while
Google promoted the Atom standard for its blog feeds.

Blogs are online journals where ordinary people give
opinions, information and links on topics that matter
to them. These topics can be anything under the
sun: from politics to needlepoint to corporate blogs
to your local school’s basketball team. Blogs give a
real insight into what ordinary surfers believe and feel
about a subject.

It’s an instant snapshot of our world in words and pictures
– but mostly words.

Blogs are often associated with RSS because RSS is
the syndication standard that sends out the blog’s content
in little snippets to all interested parties. Subscribers
to these blogs can read these headlines in News Readers or
Aggregators and then click on the links to get more
information. Keep in mind, the original acronym for
RSS is ‘Rich Site Summary’, but that meaning has been
somewhat replaced by the major benefit of RSS which
is ‘Really Simple Syndication’.

Many browsers are now coming with an RSS reader already
built-in, such as the popular Mozilla’s Firefox browser.
Microsoft’s new Longhorn version of Windows will have
RSS built into its operating system.

Recently Google has embraced RSS in its Desktop 2 program
and in the XML powered Google Sitemaps. Now comes Blog
Search, a way to search all the information in these blogs.
In the past, most bloggers have used the Technorati site
to search blogs as well as RSS search offered by MSN and
Yahoo.

Some things you should know about Google Blog Search:

1. How to access it? You can use the blog Search site
www.blogsearch.google.com or www.search.blogger.com
You may also use the Navigational Bar on any BlogSpot
blog, plus you will also be able to access it from your
Blogger Dashboard. The Blogger Navbar gives you the option
of searching within the current blog or searching all blogs.

Major criticism — Google has not placed a link on its
home (front) page of Google search; as blogs and blogging
becomes even more popular maybe this error will be fixed.

2. Who’s included? It should be noted that Google will index
all blogs using a site feed (RSS or Atom) and you can get
your Blog indexed just by using an automatic pinging service
offered by such sites as www.weblogs.com

Please Note — Your older posts may not be present in search
results, Google started indexing feeds around June, 2005.
Older posts may be included at a later date.

3. What search operators or query words are supported? You can
use these standard Google Search modifiers and Google will
restrict your results — link:, site:, intitle: plus new
ones for Blog Search — inblogtitle:, inposttitle:,
inpostauthor:, and blogurl:

4. Can I subscribe to search results? Yes, just use the News
Aggregator of your choice and subscribe to the feeds at
the bottom of the results page, then you can be automatically
updated as new posts come online.

5. Can I use Safesearch? Yes, Google lets you filter out any
unwanted sites.

More information on Blog Search click here:
http://www.google.com/help/about_blogsearch.html

Blog Search is a great extension to the Google Search Empire,
it will give surfers access to a greater range of material.
No doubt, this is not the end of what Google has to offer to
its loyal followers. Persistent speculation and rumors abound,
it just won’t go away, rumors that Google is NOT only designing
its own browser (it owns the domain gbrowser.com) but its own
operating system.

But why stop there — if you’re dreaming of the perfect
search — you must go further. Google must go further!

And since we’re dreaming…

How about a Google delivered Instant Search embedded in a
Google RSS Powered Operating System on a Google designed
ultra-portable notebook computer with a wireless cell phone
modem, accessible anywhere in the world…

…wake me up when it arrives!

How to Get Rich Playing With WORDS!

Filed under: Buying + Selling Domains — admin @ 12:21 pm

How many times have you read or heard on the news that someone hit a state lottery? Winning Millions of Dollars.

The odds of winning a major state / multi-state lottery is for example:
1 in 120,526,770 is your chance of winning the most popular multi-state lottery in the U.S. Power Ball.

Trying to guess which of the 1 to 53 and 1 Powerball number from 1 to 42 will come out on is mind boggling and to make it even tougher; the rule is that you must get the 1 in 120,526,770 right on the night that you play.

No holding onto your ticket and see if it comes out in a couple of weeks. If you don’t hit it on the date on your ticket. You can just trash your hard earned $1.00.
If you purchased plays 10 then, just lost 10 of your hard earned dollars!

There is BETTER game for you to play with better chances to win (sort of speak)!
One day as I was cruising down the information highway I came across some information that made me slam on my breaks! People were playing the NEW Lottery!

This Game is so cheap that it comes out to about 0.025342465753424657534246575342466 (my trusty calculator) per day to play.
Being terrible with numbers I’m not even going to attempt to figure out what the odds of hitting this lottery is!
One thing I’m sure of… this NEW Lottery has to have much better odds!
What makes it special to me is; it’s for those of US who love letters and words.

I called it the Name Game.

One Play gets you a whole year to hit! Just about anyone can play it for less than pennies a day (refer to the 0.025 number above ….)

Simply come up with a domain name and buy it. Within days you could be on your way to Literally Millions!

Imagine if you were the one who came up with and bought Business.com.

You would have hit that Name Lottery for $8 million dollars! Yes, 8 Million! I repeat, that’s $8,000,000,00!

Business.com is the current record holder for that highest paid domain name.

It took the spot from Compaq who paid something like $3.300,000,00 million for the the domain Altavista.com back in February 3, 2000.
You probably recognize the Altavista name now but before Compaq bought it, it was likely a big dude in the world of internet.
Has these Million Dollar Figures made you decide to Play the Domain Lottery. If so here is a tip or two to get you started.
The most popular web address (not the same as email address) end in .COM.
The second most popular is .NET

The absolute major combination hit is to have a .COM consisting of just one word i.e. business.com if that isn’t available go for it’s sister version business.net. These names all go for just under $10.00. (If they aren’t already taken!

Just thought of one could you could you hold on please while I go check it out? ………… Thank you for waiting however I just tried business.TV and it is already taken and is probably up for sale.
Once you purchase a domain name it’s yours. You can transfer it, let it just sit there or SELL IT!

In fact there is so much money to be made in domain names that there are companies who do just that. They put you domain name up for sale on their site!

You are charged a listing fee; usually starting at about $50.00 to $250.00.
If your domain is sold through their site you are charged a commission fee which can be anywhere between 5 – 10% of the purchase price.

During the research for this article, I came across one which charges just $0.79 cents to list a domain name and NO Commission fees.

All in all when you are getting paid $8 Million for simply coming up with a name.

I’d say that’s a great way to hit any lottery, without having to get dressed, hurry to the convenient
store before the deadline cut-off time!

Now: What would I do if I hit one of these Domain lotteries? I must state like many other multi-million dollar lottery winners. I’d keep working because words and writing is a part of me and is what I love!

Happy Domaining to You All!

My ebay selling secrets

Filed under: Bids — admin @ 10:59 am

What are the ebay selling secrets that so many ordinary men and women use to make themselves a full time income (or significantly more) on ebay these days?

It is obvious that you will have to be serious about your business if you are going to make it big on ebay - just like in any other business activity. As such there are a lot of things to consider, like a good business proposition, marketing, customer service etc.

However, for anyone trying to sell anything on ebay there are actually two “secrets” that will make a world of difference.

The ebay selling master knows that…

I remember hearing a Chinese story once, about a master doll maker; His most talented apprentice had become a very skilful doll maker himself. But, although his dolls where technically just as good as the masters, there was still something missing. Something so obvious that anyone could tell the difference, yet no one could put their finger exactly on what made the masters dolls so much more impressive.

Finally, on the masters deathbed, the apprentice asked the master what his big secret was. The master then took one of the dolls that the apprentice had made, gave it’s face a gentle push so that the mouth and eyes lifted into a friendly smile.

This was the whole secret.

Now, like I said there is obviously more to it than this when it comes to selling professionally on ebay. But the two most critical elements to any ebay auction are

- The item description

- A good picture of the item

Getting these right sounds simple enough, but as a customer you will still se a great deal of poorly written descriptions and non-representative images, or no image at all. This will, in most cases, make you as a potential buyer think twice before placing any bids with this particular ebay merchant.

An item description that sells

The most important part of any eBay listing is the description of the item. Get this right as a seller, and you have already won half the battle.

It is easy to understand that the description should “sell” the item for you, but don’t go overboard and write a “shopping channel” style sales pitch. In fact, the most important thing is that the buyer gets as good a picture as is possible about the product, without holding it in his or her own hands.

Think about it for a moment, if you where going to bid a lot of money on something. you would definitely want to know that it’s wort bidding for in the first place - right?

You want to know exactly what model, year, manufacturer etc. the item in question is. Is it used or brand new? Perfect condition or slightly damaged? If it’s some kind of clothing, is it definitely your size etc.?

For whatever you are selling you want to place yourself in the customers shoes and ask yourself: “what would I want to know about this product?”. Then be as thorough and honest as possible about your items peculiarities in your description. And if someone emails you with a follow-up question, be quick to respond. If you are selling a certain type of product on a continuous basis, it is naturally also a good idea to keep track on what additional questions you get, in order to further improve your item descriptions.

A great description will bring you the right kind of customers, who feel comfortable with buying from you. Make a really cryptic or outright deceitful description and you risk end up being regarded as another ebay con artist.

A picture sells more than a thousand words?

As an ebay professional you will definitely want to brush up on your skills in photography. A good picture will by no means cover up for a poor item description, but it will definitely help tip the scales even further in your favour. Leaving the picture out is simply not an option in most scenarios. Trust me, the additional effort spent on this will pay you back in spades.

It is no coincidence that most ebay PowerSellers are also pretty skilled photographers. Buing that shimmering dress or antique vase feels so much better, after having seen a picture of tha actual product.

The only situation where you could use some type of stock photo, is if you are selling some kind of brand new product that will look the same no matter where the customer buys it. Still, if the manufacturer can’t provide you with attractive and detailed photos, you might want to take your own pictures anyway.

Good digital cameras are cheap these days, so every ebay entrepreneur should definitely have one.

If you are aiming for long term success on ebay, there are definitely many other things you will need to learn. But mastering the item description and photo will definitely be one of main the goals on your journey towards ebay selling mastery.

Bandwidth

Filed under: The World Wide Web — admin @ 8:22 am

The term bandwidth is very common these days, especially because its technology affects almost all aspects of our lives. You use bandwidth when you connect to the internet, when you use the telephone, when you watch television, and in many other activities. But what exactly is bandwidth? Read on to find out and see how it can change your life.

Bandwidth defined

The term ‘bandwidth’ refers to the amount of data or information that can be transmitted over a network in a given time, or, in much simpler terms, is a measure of how much ‘stuff’ is sent through any connection. Information sent can take many forms depending on the channel.

How bandwidth affects you

Bandwidth in internet terms is usually expressed in either bits per second (bps), kilobits per second (kbps), or megabits per second (mbps). The higher the bandwidth of your connection, the faster you can upload and download data from the internet. Dial-up connections are low speed at only about 50+ kbps, while better cable connections go from 500 kbps and up. Whether you need a connection that has bigger bandwidth depends on your purposes for using the internet. If you only use the net for text-based research purposes, you don’t need much bandwidth. A whole page of English text is only about 16,000 bits, so if your modem can move about 57,000 bits per second, you are more than covered. You may need higher bandwidth if you upload or download full-motion and full-screen video, which, depending on compression, requires roughly 10,000,000 bits-per-second. It is wise to subscribe to a high-bandwidth connection if you use the internet for pictures, graphics, music and videos.

The telephones use bandwidth, too – in fact, a bandwidth of about 3,000 ‘cycles per second’ (cps) is required for voice transmission. The bandwidth required for television broadcasting is even higher at about 6 million cps, and satellite system prevent interference by spreading television signals using bandwidth of as little as 17.5 MHz to a as much as 72 MHz.

Bandwidth provides detailed information on Bandwidth, Bandwidth Tests, Bandwidth Management, Bandwidth Meters and more. Bandwidth is affiliated with Colocation Hosting.

Jesus Christ: one can reach god only through him… Is this

Filed under: House Of Religion — admin @ 5:54 am

Jesus Christ: one can reach god only through him… Is this statement correct?

Catch the express or the super fast bullet train. If we are able to reach our goal the purpose is served. Talk of Jesus Christ, Mahavira, Gautama Buddha or Prophet Mohammed… all reached the goal they had established in their life. The goal of all (including Jesus Christ) was the same… only the paths were different.

Mahavira, Gautama Buddha, Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed… all wanted to have one-to-one interaction with God the Almighty. All four of them succeeded in their life. If Jesus Christ were to say that God can be reached through him (he is not incorrect) for any enlightened Soul can guide the humanity to its logistical end.

Life was made like that by God the Almighty. The Jesus Christ has been considered in Christianity as the son of God the Almighty. The teachings of Jesus Christ can also not be considered wrong but there is all possibility that the interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ may have been wrongly monitored by people with vested interests.

Such wrong interpretations exist in every religion or Dharma. The society at present thinks and interprets everything in terms of materialistic gains. How can then be the teachings of Jesus Christ remain untouched by impurities?

The so called statement by Jesus Christ that one can reach god only through him is a misnomer. No enlightened Soul can utter such words. It is a complete disregard of the teachings of Jesus Christ. It is upon the masses in general to assess whom to trust in the present materialistic trend existing in the society. A blind faith in the Vatican teachings can totally misguide the humanity towards a catastrophic end.

Even though the interpretation of the teachings of Jesus Christ by the Vatican carry absolute weight age for most Catholics around the world but it need not be the absolute truth as was administered and monitored by Jesus Christ himself. The Vatican interpretations can be based on absolutely wrong footing.

Let me give an example-

Sometimes back it was announced in most of the newspapers around the world that John Pope Paul (considered a direct representative of Jesus Christ on Mother Earth) had arranged for a team of renowned astronomers and quite a number of powerful telescopes with the hope that God could be located in the universe perchance. The poor John Pope Paul failed to realize that the basic building block of the whole Cosmos is atoms and molecules. God the Almighty cannot have existence in the form of a human being… it has to be a source of energy… the might of which can not be perceived with the limitations of the senses and the mind.

What an awful waste of money and intelligence… none in the Catholic world retaliated. What does this prove…? Does this confirm the blind faith of the masses in the Vatican? Such a blind faith in the Vatican is absolutely wrong for it leads the society towards wrong conclusions! If Jesus Christ had been alive today… he would have outright rejected the actions of the Vatican.

We are intelligent human beings and we need to introspect upon everything said or interpreted to us. We have science to support us whenever the need arises. It is a different matter that everything in the field of spirituality cannot be interpreted in terms of science for most things in the spiritual field are taken care of by faith alone (faith in the existence and system of God). I again confirm that it is only the absolute faith in the system of God that can lead us towards the eternal light… nothing else!

Whatever Jesus Christ may have said at any stage of life would have been absolutely correct… only the interpretations of his sayings and teachings are likely to be interpreted wrongly based on the vested interests many people possess. Furthermore, to be able to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ one need not become a Christian. Similarly as to follow the dictates of Lord Krishna one need not be a Hindu. All teachings are required to be followed in the right spirit of the sacred scriptures.

Every enlightened teacher like Jesus Christ would always want to emphasize that it is in the interest of the masses that their teachings be followed in the right spirit for one (Jesus Christ) who has already covered the journey knows the path! Swami Vivekananda… the famous disciple of Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa knew very well that under the guidance of his master he can become enlightened in this very life. It was up to Swami Vivekananda entirely whether or not to follow the teachings of sage Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa in order to realize God in his lifetime.

Whether we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ or Gautama Buddha is immaterial. The sole purpose of the journey of life of a human being is always reaching the end of the journey and this goal can only be achieved by following the dictates of an enlightened master alone (like Jesus Christ). It is very important! The fact written in the Bible that “God can only be reached through Jesus Christ” confirms this.

Stress Management and Mastery: 5 Tips for Positive Anger Management

Filed under: Psychology Tips + More — admin @ 3:04 am

A grandfather, whose grandson came to him angry at a schoolmate who had done him an injustice, said,

“I too, at times, have felt a great hate for those who have taken so much, with no sorrow for what they do. But hate wears you down and doesn’t hurt your enemy. It’s like taking poison and wishing your enemy would die.

“I have struggled with these feelings many times,” he continued. “It is as if there are two wolves inside me: One is good and does no harm. He lives in harmony with all around him and doesn’t take offense when no offense was intended. He will fight only when it is right to do so and in the right way. But the other wolf, ah! He is full of anger. The smallest thing will set him into a fit of temper. He fights everyone, all the time, for no reason. He cannot think because his anger and hate are so great. It is hard to live with these two wolves inside me, for both of them try to dominate my spirit.”

The boy looked intently into his grandfather’s eyes and asked

“Which one wins?”

The grandfather solemnly replied

“The one I feed.”

Anger is human

Anger is a naturally ocurring emotion that in and of itself is not necessarily a bad thing. It’s what we do with our anger that makes the difference.

We can either feed it and make it worse, or we can work with it and handle it in a way that makes healthy sense. It’s always a choice. .

How to feed anger

Play the blame game.

Finding, placing and dramatizing blame is one of the greatest sources of creating and feeding anger. Blame talks like this,

“It’s someone else’s fault. He should not have done it, and I must make him pay for it.”

One of the many downsides of this is that the blame game takes so much time and energy, leaving you with little for the rest of your life.

Play the enflame game.

Once you are angry, you have two choices: Defuse your anger or enflame it. The danger with enflaming your anger is that it quickly becomes a habit and you forget it’s a choice.

Enflaming requires nurturing anger by running the injustice over and over in your mind. Another way to do this is to tell as many people as you can about how you feel until you get a number of folks on your side. They become assistant enflamers.

Blaming and enflaming fit dangerously well. The more you blame, the more enflamed you become. The more enflamed you become, the more you find to blame.

How to feed healthy feelings

Play the diffuse game.

Pausing to ask yourself a few questions helps reduce anger. For example: How much do I enjoy this feeling? How strongly do I want to feel this anger? How long do I want to feel it?

Anger can prevent us from thinking. Pausing long enough to answer these questions allows you to re-engage your brain and decide how you want to handle your anger.

Accept that not everything in life can or needs to be set right.

Many times when we try to set things right, we just muck it up that much more. Sometimes we just have to release it and move on. Treat it like the dust it is, shake it off your shoes and walk on into the rest of your life.

Mountain Bikes - Exercise and Fun all in One

Filed under: Bicycles, Trikes, etc. — admin @ 12:35 am

If you want to get into a fun sport that will allow you to get plenty of exercise, get into shape, and offer you challenges that you won’t find elsewhere – all while enjoying an abundance of nature - you might want to start thinking about mountain bikes. Mountain biking is a popular sport that has been around for numerous years, but recently, with the new technology that goes into the manufacturing of today’s mountain bikes, there seems to be a new interest in this sport.

If the sport of mountain biking isn’t something that you know a lot about, you may have the wrong idea about the sport. You’ve seen the mountain bikers on the television sports channels jumping obstacles and racing down dirt trails – and racing is one aspect of mountain biking. However, racing is not required. In fact, most mountain bikers don’t race at all.

Mountain biking for most people can be compared to hiking. The point is to get out, get exercise, and experience nature. Yes, there will be obstacles to maneuver around on them more advanced trails, but many people are just out for the pleasure of riding in nature – just like hikers are out to enjoy the walk and the nature. Some mountain bikers are leisurely riders. Some like the challenges that they face out on the trails – but they aren’t in any hurry. Other’s like both the challenges and the racing! The path you choose is up to you.

With this new light on the sport of mountain biking, you may now be interested in getting involved in this sport. Maybe you want to lose weight. Maybe you just want to get more exercise. Then again, maybe you like the thought of enjoying nature, but you aren’t big on walking, and prefer to ride. No matter what your reasons for your interest are, you will definitely need a mountain bike – finding a place to ride it is the easy part.

As a beginner, you really won’t have any idea what you need in the way of a mountain bike. Therefore, it is in your best interest to buy a very basic, yet sturdy, mountain bike that can be upgraded at a later date. Visit your local bike dealer, and talk to them. Let them know that you are just starting out, and that you want a basic bike that you can upgrade later. If they try to sell you something expensive – more than $500 – walk away and visit a different store.

You might also consider purchasing a used bike from a private individual. Used bikes can be found online, through the printed classifieds, and even through bike dealers. Look around your area – and online – to see what is available.

Before making a purchase, it is always a good idea to talk to other mountain bikers. Ask them what bike they started with, and what they would suggest for you. The best information you will find will come from the people who are already deeply into the sport.

Once you’ve made a purchase, you need to find a place to ride. Are there any state parks or national forests in your area? Are there wooded areas that aren’t fenced off? These are ideal places to ride. However, you should never ride on private property without permission. If you can’t think of any place that might have bike trails, do a little research online. Type in ‘bike trails in Alabama’ or ‘mountain bike trails in Georgia’ or whatever state you live in into the search box of any search engine, and you will find quite a bit of information!

Look for sites that offer reviews of bike trails that you want to visit. These reviews will save you a lot of time, and help you avoid the trails that either aren’t worth your time, or aren’t suited to your skill level. Reading is actually a big part of mountain biking if you are a beginner! You should also consider purchasing a few mountain bikes videos. These videos will help you learn the basics before you set off on a trail!
