Children’s Birthday Party Locations and Ideas

Filed under: Safaris + Travel — admin @ 5:19 pm

While most children’s birthday parties are held at home, you may want to consider an offsite location.

For starters, you won’t have to be concerned about the current state of order and tidiness of your house. Plus using the cultural and recreational resources of the community will broaden your child’s horizons and introduce him or her to some wonderful experiences.

Ask your child what she would like. Usually the party theme will reflect her interests, hobbies or sports.

Here are some ideas to jumpstart your creativity.

If your child loves sharks, what better place to be than the local aquarium where he can see sharks up close and personal.

Then, there’s the zoo, if he or she loves elephants and wants a jungle theme. Or maybe the local museum of natural history.

Local history museums can make history real.

The local art museum is a great place for the budding artist, a concert for the budding musician, the planetarium for the budding astronomer… you get the idea.

The best part is that many such institutions have activities designed especially for children. Ask.

There are entire institutions, like the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia, designed for children.

Other cool ideas:

Have a Pottery party:

Facilities have opened up that allow you to paint on pottery. When you are finished, the staff will put it into a kiln for you. Most will host parties and many have special children’s birthday party packages.

A Day of Beauty:
Recently, our local newspaper had an article about the popularity of makeovers as a party idea for preteens. Mom arranges with a local beauty school or beauty salon to have the group come in for an afternoon, where they have the run of the place.

Roller skating rinks have packages where you can rent the use of a private room for an hour to enjoy light refreshments and cake. Then they are free to enjoy the facility. Keep in mind that rinks are very strict about scheduling.

Ice skaters might enjoy a trip to the ice rink.

Facilities like Chuck E. Cheese cater to birthday parties for young children.

A group of girls may enjoy a luncheon in a neighborhood Chinese restaurant.

Little Ladies’ Tea Party:
Many hotels will host teas. And they are happy to accommodate children. The kids can dress up and be princesses for the day. Many invite their favorite stuffed animals to the festivities and they can get important lessons in etiquette.

In the summer, you may want to use your back yard for your children’s birthday party. But if you don’t have a large yard or you don’t wish the event to be held there, check out neighborhood parks and playgrounds. Many will allow you to reserve a pavilion.

Where else can you go for ideas?

Try your city or town’s local visitor or welcome center. Another source is the local library – especially the children’s department. These days, the internet is an invaluable resource. Local newspapers and magazines often have sections that feature local events and activities. Last, but not least, there is always word of mouth.

Enjoy.

Moving Debt Between Cards Can Save You Money

Filed under: Credit Strategies — admin @ 5:18 am

If you’re like most people, you have plenty of credit cards, and you have stacks of offers for more. The credit card industry is so competitive that, whatever card you have, the chances are that somewhere out there is one that would be cheaper or better for you - and you can change as often as you want!

Take Up Teaser Offers.

To try and get customers, credit cards are still offering massive discount rates when you transfer balances over to them. These ‘teaser’ rates will only last for a set period (check the terms and conditions), but they can still save you a lot of money - especially if you switch to another card’s teaser rate each time one ends.

Yes, this does mean applying for a new card relatively often - but if you do it online, you’ll find it’s quite painless. Is it really worth hundreds of dollars to save the trouble of applying for a new card?

Extend Your Offers.

You might not even need to move to another card to get a teaser offer for longer. If you phone and ask, many lenders will extend the preferential rate for longer, in an effort to get you to stick around.

Check the Small Print.

You might find that the ‘low, low rate’ only lasts a few months, and you might also find that it only applies to balance transfers, not new purchases. A common trap is for a card to allow you to transfer your balance of thousands at 0% APR, only to charge you 20% or more on anything new you buy with it. Of course, as soon as you ditch that card and move to the next, the new purchases become a balance transfer again.

A more nasty thing you might find is that you’re signing up to a minimum term to get the teaser offer - they won’t let you transfer your balance away again for a year, or even more. Avoid these cards like the plague.

Keep Track of Time.

Your card issuer isn’t going to go out of their way to alert you when your teaser rate is over. Make sure you keep track: make a mark on the calendar. Months can go by far more quickly than you’d think, and missing the end of the teaser period by even a day will mean that you’ll end up paying interest at the normal rate.

Moving Around and Your Credit Rating.

Moving debt around between cards often affects your credit rating in an odd way. On the one hand, it shows that you could be an unprofitable customer - after all, you change cards before they can make a profit from you. On the other hand, it also shows that you’re likely to take up offers that you’re sent, and companies tend to believe that they have a great strategy to keep you with them where others have failed.

In other words, some companies will hate you for it, and some will love you. Bear in mind, though, that the longer you do it for, the fewer companies will want to send you their very best teaser rates.

Is Generality Killing Your Coaching Practice?

Filed under: Self Improvement Tips — admin @ 4:21 am

Take a look at your coaching practice and ask yourself - are you being too general? Are you trying to appeal to anyone and everyone only to find that you are attracting no one? If you find yourself in this position - please don’t beat yourself up - it’s a common and understandable condition.

In my time working in the field of coaching, I’ve noticed a reluctance by many coaches to get really specific on who they want to work with and in what area. They don’t want to narrow down their options too early. They don’t want to miss out on other opportunities. They also don’t want to make a mistake.

The irony in the above situation is that the avoidance of ‘making a mistake’ can turn out to be a mistake in itself. Sometimes, it’s better to make a decision today using the best of your abilities and awareness and then move forward with full power based on your decision. You can always change your direction later on if you need to.

Contrast this to not making a decision at all and endlessly debating whether to go North, South, East or West. Is it any wonder you can feel like you’re not making much progress?

Specificity Leads to Success

But why should you bother being more specific in what you’re offering as a coach anyway? Well…

1. Move Confidently - Once you know specifically who you’re looking for and how you can help them you can begin to focus your resources much more intelligently. You’ll also move forward with greater confidence as you have a greater sense of direction. You become more assured and get greater results.

2. Separate Yourself from the Rest - By making your coaching service much more specific and focused, you begin to differentiate your practice from the growing number of generalist coaches out there at the moment. You effective give prospective clients a reason to choose you specifically.

3. Prospects Respond - By being more specific you give prospective clients a better chance of identifying with your service offering and getting the ‘that’s for me!’ response. If you have a plethora of wooly generalities, indistinguishable from the rest of the pack, they’ll most likely move on to another coach who more closely fits what they are looking for.

World Peace by Meditation: The End of Poverty and Anger, Stress, Tension, Depression, Sorrow, Hate

Filed under: New Age Tips + More — admin @ 4:15 am

One of the worlds greatest Meditators, says Governments can’t eradicate poverty from the Earth. Neither can they bring peace. “To resolve problems through negotiation is a very childish approach,”

A few hundred meditators on either side of a conflict is all that’s needed to create an aura of peace. “We create world consciousness and coherence. Therefore, fighting will stop all over,” “Don’t fight darkness. Bring the light of Meditation, and darkness will disappear.”

• Eliminate poverty? End war and create world peace? The unifying field that Albert Einstein sought has been within us all the time, in the “unbounded consciousness” of the mind. “There is one unity, unified wholeness, total unified consciousness,”

• Tear down major structures and cities — the White House and the United Nations among them – Heal the energies and rebuild them according to energetic architectural plans that harmonize construction with nature.

• Send meditation groups to world hot spots as psychic shock troops whose combined positive energy will dispel negativity, reduce crime, ease conflict and promote world peace.

• Buy billions of acres in 100 developing countries for labor-intensive farming, providing employment and income for the world’s poorest people by feeding the First-World market for organic food.

Meditation is a 20-minute twice daily routine in which the meditator silently focuses on a sound, or mantra, to induce relaxation and “Dive Into A State Of Pure Consciousness And Tap Into The Deepest Resources Of The Brain And Intelligence.”

With Meditation “Anger, Stress, Tension, Depression, Sorrow, Hate, Fear — these things start to retreat,” said American movie director David Lynch of “Twin Peaks” renown, who has practiced Meditation for 32 years. And for a filmmaker, having this negativity lift away is money in the bank. When you’re suffering you can’t create.
