Battery life and Your Digital Camera
With a traditional camera, you can take pictures even when your batteries are empty. So, how are you going to take pictures with your digital camera, when the battery is empty? There is not much choice. To get the most out of the cameras batteries, you should start using some energy saving tactics, that are easy to remember and implement.
- Switch off the camera when not in use
- use the motor driven zoom lens only when you really need it, don’t use it to show off
- shorten the time for previewing the picture on the LCD screen
- shorten then time for the automatic shut down of the camera (only do this when timing isn’t an issue, like it is with snapshots, animals or sports photography)
- in cold climate, keep the camera warm. Batteries loose their power rapidly when they are getting cold.
- When working in cold climate, take a spare set of batteries along
- always use the best batteries you can get. Usually the more expensive batteries keep their voltage for a longer time on a steady level.
- When using reloadable batteries, get the more expensive NiMH types with the highest capacity available. They have a very long life between reloading and no memory effect.

1. Place testimonials for your ezine on your site.
Your testimonials will help you to increase your circulation by showing your visitors how your ezine has helped your subscribers.
2. Give your visitors the chance to see what your ezine is all about before subscribing.
For instance, you could provide an archive of your past issues on your site or you could make a sample issue available by autoresponder.
3. Write articles.
Your articles will increase your subscriptions by showing people that are unfamiliar with your ezine what kind of valuable content they can expect from you.
Promote your articles by submitting them to article directories, article announcement lists, and also to ezine publishers directly.
4. Swap articles with other ezine publishers and webmasters.
Publish other ezine publishers’ articles in your ezine in exchange for those publishers running your articles in their ezines.
This can help you to successfully increase your subs by getting your articles run in targeted ezines on a regular basis.
You can also participate in ad swaps where you post other publishers’ or webmasters articles on your site in exchange for them doing the same for you.
In addition, to helping you get more subscribers, these swaps can help you to keep your site updated with new content and increase your search engine rankings by increasing the number of reciprocal links you have.
5. Add bonuses for subscribing to your ezine.
Your bonuses will help you to successfully get more subscribers by giving your visitors an incentive for joining your ezine.
Increase the value your visitors place on your bonuses by adding an honest dollar amount to them, by telling your visitors the benefits they provide, or by telling your visitors how many people have already received them.
6. Swap advertising space with other ezine publishers.
Your ad swaps will give you an excellent way to increase your subscriptions at no cost. When possible, swap your ads for at least three issues in a row to maximize the number of new subscribers you get.
7. Swap “thank you” page ads.
Promote other related but non competing ezines on the page your new subscribers are taken to after subscribing to your ezine in exchange for those publishers doing the same for you.
This will give you a powerful way to continue to increase your subscriptions for as long as the other ezines are published.
8. Swap welcome message ads.
Like your “thank you” page ads, this type of swap can give you very good ongoing promotion of your ezine. The main difference is that not everyone that subscribes to your ezine will read your welcome email while all your new subscribers will be directed to your “thank you” page.
9. Swap recommendations with other ezine publishers.
You could recommend another publisher’s ezine within your ezine in your own words in exchange for that publisher doing the same for you.
You could also swap recommendations in your welcome message or on your “thank you” page.
In addition, you could run a recommended ezines section in every issue where you recommend a few or several other ezines in exchange for those publishers doing the same for you.
10. Submit your ezine to ezine announcement lists and ezine directories.
Your submissions will provide you with an easy way to start getting more new subscribers.
Getting your ezine listed in ezine directories can also help you to find more people who would like to purchase advertising in your ezine as well as more publishers who would like to do a joint venture with you.

My friends in the web hosting business have recently informed me that the big problem this year (2004) is security and fraud. I have read that currently the F.B.I. receives over 9,000 complaints per month pertaining to bogus email and websites. Why is this happening? Are just a few ‘bad apples’ doing it, or is it the result of a lopsided world economy where the underprivileged are finally striking back like the infamous Robin Hood? Whatever your moral view, I’ve got the strange feeling it stems from a growing unconscious greed in the social consciousness of modern society. People worship money, not spirituality or love. Am I wrong?
Technically, the main problems at the moment are ‘phishing’ or ‘spoofing’ scams. This is where the use of Spam or junk-email is used to lure computer users to look-alike websites where they are deceived into giving out personal information and financial data. Often these emails are coming from trusted sources where hackers have altered links to send you straight into their ‘pockets’. The Internet user is duped into thinking that they are visiting a trusted website page, when actually it is an excellent copy of the original. There might be only one tiny change in the web address that is often not easily recognizable.
Identity theft is where multiple tricks are employed to make you fill out fake forms on fake sites to get all sorts of information that can then be used by thieves to steal money or get free Internet access. Anything from credit card numbers to account information, passwords, billing data and personal phone numbers and addresses have been stolen and used for criminal purposes.
These tricksters, few or many, are wizards at finding loopholes in mail systems of legitimate sites. Just go to the site entitled www.crimesofpersuasion.com and read some articles about a few of the more famous scams that have been busted or that are still in circulation. There’s a story about a 17-year-old boy who was arrested with over a million dollars in misappropriated funds hidden in a Costa Rican casino account! Smart kid, but how smart is he really if he got caught? On the site above there are also tips for consumers generally focusing on how not to give your information away to anyone at any time. Check them out.
It worries me a little, this huge amount of illegal activity. I know that a lot of people feel that currently the world is very imbalanced in terms of wealth and spirituality and that this new epidemic is just a karmic reaction of the oppressed masses. The United States earns 50 percent of the world’s economy, of course some of the other 95% of Earth’s population is going to be keen for a piece of the pie, right? Steal from the rich and feed the poor like that guy in the green tights.
The funny thing is I think that a lot of these thieves are living in America and unbeknownst to themselves be already part of the top 5% of wealthy humans. The problem is that they always want more. Money can become addictive in a consumerist society whose advertising and marketing schemes are constantly bombarding us with stimulus relating to the next new product that we ‘need’ in our lives. We are never satisfied with what we’ve got. The next purchase’s momentary injection of adrenalin becomes more of an imperative than any concept of lasting spiritual happiness.
Feel sorry for these people that have to go through all the rigmarole of sorting all these frauds from the real sites out there. I doubt there is a religion on Earth that teaches that theft is a balanced respectful action. I do know that when the country of Australia was founded it was done so on the backs of convicts, many of who had only stolen bread to survive. That’s a kind of theft that will question your moral value system. I’ll leave you with one last question: If the ‘first world’ has nearly all the money on our planet, are we the biggest thieves of all?

The GPS, which means Global Positioning System, is a fully-functional satellite navigation system. It has the capacity to provide people information regarding locations any time and any where on Earth. This type of technology has been greatly used and now vehicles could be installed with such systems. It could assist drivers on knowing the right roads to tread on as well as giving drivers information on the roads to their destinations.
If you are interested in having a GPS navigation system for your car, you would to do some thinking first. There are in fact a lot of things to consider and to check before you go ahead and purchase that navigation system. One of the very first things would be to think and choose as per how often you would be using the system. Just like any other feature of a vehicle, the GPS navigation system comes in a variety of prices and specifications. Of course, there are inexpensive ones but are not user-friendly.
It would be also very helpful if you try to check out your car’s layout also. You see, there are some GPS navigation systems that come with a monitor which shows you a map and this monitor is usually installed on a car’s dashboard. Try to see if your vehicle could support such. You would not want to have a crowded vehicle just to have a GPS navigation system.
A system that has the capacity to find out multiple ways to get to your destination should be one of your choices. That way, you would be getting the most out of your vehicle. Also, try looking for a system that provides directions. There are some that gives you arrows that show you when you need to turn during your drive. Another important specification that you should consider when choosing a GPS navigation system is that it should also be capable of updating its data and information.
Things are constantly changing and with GPS systems that could be updated, it would show you that your system could be put to use for a long time. On the same line, Auto Parts Information also is continuously updating its collection of Mercedes Benz partsand other auto parts for its customers worldwide.

Undocumented Networks
————
I can’t tell you how many projects I’ve worked on in which
the customer has little to no network documentation. The
reason for the lack of network documentation is varied. In
many cases this is both the fault of the customer and the
vendor / consultant who designed and implemented the
network. The vendor just does not do it and the customer
does not press hard enough for it. In some cases, technology
consultants do not feel it’s important enough or want to
lock the customer into having to call “them” if something
goes wrong or a configuration needs to be changed.
Not only is this poor practice on the side of the
consultant, it can have a dramatic affect on the future
growth of the customer, increase the costs of future network
upgrades and diagnostics, and can negatively impact the
security of the customers network.
The Results Of A Undocumented Network
————
Before I tell you the basic items that need to be documented
with regards to computer networks, I first want to give you
examples of what I have “not” seen documented, and what
problems this has caused.
During one of my past projects, which was primarily to
implement a new firewall and to secure many of the internal
systems , I ran into some really incredible issues. None of
the primary server systems were documented. No one knew what
server did what, how much memory, disk space, what type of
processor(s), and in some cases, did not know what Operating
System was installed. And worse than that, during my initial
review, we located three servers in a closet, on a different
floor, that no one even knew existed!
Because of the lack of network documentation, no one knew
what was suppose to be done to maintain their enterprise
Anti-Virus system. When I finally determined what the admin
password was to login to the Anti-Virus services, I found
that virus signatures had not been updated in over six
months. Then we found that the system was not even
functioning and nearly 90% of systems on the network were
infected with virus and worms (and not the annoying kind
either, the destructive kind)
We also found there were four different tape backup servers,
and again, because of the lack of network documentation,
none of them had been maintained. The customer just kept
changing tapes. And do you know what, none of the backup
jobs had been running for months. Talk about a false sense
of security!
The very last thing I want to talk about is how lack of
network documentation and procedures can affect network
security. In one case, a customer had a rather expensive
Check Point Firewall in place. No documentation was
available and the customer had been told that nothing needed
to be done to maintain the Firewall. The customer told me
that recently, their Internet access had become very
sluggish. It took two days to locate the Check Point console
password. When I logged in I found that the C: drive had
absolutely no free disk space because the Firewall log had
consumed it all. This could have been avoided if the
Firewall was setup properly in the first place. The Firewall
was also about 4 Service Packs behind, and the rules in
place were quite inadequate. Not to mention that none of the
rules themselves had been documented. And one more thing to
think about. If this network had been attacked and
compromised, how quickly would we have been able to respond
to the attack if so much of the network was undocumented? It
would have been a disaster.
Basic Network Documentation
————
Here is a basic set of items that should be contained in
network documentation:
All server hardware and operating systems should be
documented, including the physical locations and what
primary, secondary, etc.. purpose they serve. All key
service accounts an login account user-id and password’s
should be documented and stored in a safe location, maybe a
company lockbox or vault, or use something like KeyPass to
store them. A visual diagram of the network layout, even
from a high level, should exist no matter how small or large
the network is. Products like WhatsUpGold can assist with
this or you can create a Visio diagram of the network.
Procedures on how to maintain the network technology,
including Operating Systems, security related services,
backup and disaster recovery (business continuity), and
firewall technologies should exist.
Additionally, you should
document and secure all Operating System and application
licensing. This is something that is very often overlooked
and is imperative if you have to recover from a disaster
situation in which the rebuild of systems is necessary.
Other information to have documented is key contact
information. For instance, who do you call if your Internet
connection goes down? Who do you contact if your offsite web
services are not functioning? Do you have a third party that
maintains your Domain Name Services (DNS)? If you have
custom applications, do you know exactly who you must call
if there is a problem?
The above is just the basic items that need to be documented
within a computer network. There are many more aspects to
network documentation.
Who Needs To Document Their Network
————
In a nutshell, anyone who has a computer network, home
office, small office, or large office, should have an
adequate level of network documentation and procedures to
follow in order to maintain the network. If you have
invested in network technology, don’t you want to keep your
investment safe, sound, and performing at it’s peak?
Conclusion
————
If you are a customer, and have a systems integrator or
consultant working on a new network implementation or
upgrading an existing one, demand that they provide you with
complete network documentation. Even if it costs you extra
you should request it. It will save you a lot of time and
money in the future. And, it may actually keep your business
from experiencing long periods of down time.

Curtains play a very important role in how you feel about a
room. If you think curtains don’t matter, try this little
experiment. Go to any room in your house and remove the curtains
leaving a bare window. Or use a dark, heavy blanket and simply
drape it over the curtain rod. Can you immediately see the
difference? Not only does it look different at the window, it
also impacts how the rest of the room looks and probably makes
you feel differently about the room.
So how do you decide what curtains to buy? Start by analyzing
the room, what you intend to do there, your needs and existing
(or planned) color schemes. With a little time and pre-planning,
you’ll have the curtains that work in your room.
Most curtains play a dual role. They not only decorate a room,
but also provide a sense of security. Simply put, they keep
people from seeing inside your home. For some rooms of your
home, that’s probably not vitally important, but you have two
options for those rooms in which visibility is an issue. You can
choose heavy materials, finer weaves and darker colors, or you
can use a double layer of curtain over blinds. Think blinds are
just too ugly? Today, you have an incredible choice, including
almost any color you can imagine.
Having the ability to open curtains without a fuss is important
in most cases. Most people who have a great kitchen window find
this especially true in this room. Choose curtains that are
functional as well as pretty. Drapes with a pull are an option,
but it’s perfectly okay to choose curtains that simply slide on
the rod, as long as the rod isn’t out of your reach.
When you’re deciding whether to choose a dark or light color,
remember that the decision will impact the entire room. Darker
colors will tend to make the room darker and will cut out more
light from the windows. If someone works an off shift and tends
to sleep during the day, darker curtains are probably a good
idea. But if you’re looking to lighten up a room, choose lighter
colors for your curtains. The pale colors will tend to let
sunlight filter through, even if the curtains are so heavy that
you can’t see through them.
Finally, remember that color is a vital part of this selection.
Curtains are an excellent way to emphasis colors that were used
throughout the room. Your walls may be burgundy and your carpet
burgundy with pale gray highlights. If you choose curtains in
pale gray, you’ll be lightening up the darker walls and the gray
of the carpet will probably become more noticeable.
Keep in mind that color tends to impact mood. While some people
seem to be less affected than others, some general rules of
thumb about colors are:
* Green is very tranquil * Reds (including orange) are
energetic * Yellow is considered a happy color. * Greens are
typically calm and peaceful. * Black is usually very somber and
people tend to avoid black spaces for long periods. * White is
considered perfect, though austere.

You know where you want to go, but how do you get there? You may find that making some decisions is easier than others. What do you do first? How long will it take? Will you need help getting there? How do you decide what’s right for you?
It helps if you understand what makes you tick; your personal value system. These values are the ones you live with, not necessarily every day, but over the course of your life, that enable you to live with your decisions.
First, sit down and make a list of the top 20 or 30 values that are important to you:
* family
* personal time
* fun
– you get the idea. Narrow that list to 10, and then five. Next, rank those five in numeric order, one against the other, until you have your top three.
When making choices, ask yourself if the decision would honor your top three values. If not, it’s the wrong choice for you at the time.
Setting the right goals for you is almost as important as having goals in the first place. They have to be realistic and coincide with your value system. How does your vision mesh with your goals? You may experience fear, feel overwhelmed or confused because you don’t know how to go about setting goals effectively, but it’s a straightforward process and you will overcome the emotions as you go, as you feel more in control.
The Five-Step Goal-Setting Process
1. What do you want, specifically — This is the first thing to ask yourself in your goal planning process. What is your vision? Your dream? Without being clear as to your explicit desires, no other steps can be taken, and no progress made.
2. Why do you want it (what value does it serve) — The pivotal question in your goal-setting process and a prime motivator. You must reflect on your values list in order to answer it. Does your desire reflect your values? If so, you’ve accomplished the second step and are on your way to goal setting success.
3. When do you want it – Determining specific dates for completion of tasks is a crucial part of your goal setting procedure. Knowing that you have committed yourself to achieving a certain thing by a certain date will enable you to plan your time and thus maximize your efforts.
4. What will you give up or overcome to get it – Confusion? Fear? Procrastination? Insecurity? Make sure you keep in mind why you want your goal. It will give you all the courage you need to push through your fears and move forward.
5. Create a detailed plan to get there — We are not born knowing how to do anything, really, except eat, sleep and breathe. The rest we learn as we go along, and creating a detailed plan to achieve your goals is no different.
Brainstorm things you can do, actions you can take. Bounce ideas off of friends, relatives. Throw out ideas (none are too insignificant or crazy). After you get the first few implausible or facetious ideas out of the way, more creative, clever and valuable ideas will surface. Brainstorm until you are able to get your ideas down to very specific, measurable tasks that you can then cross off a list when you’ve finished them.
In order to reach a key goal, you’ll need to set interim goals – multiple short-term goals. Broken down into bite-sized pieces, the objectives are less intimidating. If you get stuck trying to create a plan, ask yourself more questions! Keep asking questions until there are no more questions, only actions left.
Prioritize your plan according to your most important goal, approach each goal individually and set a date for completion. You’ll be amazed at the progress you make!

Once again it is the time of year where it is impossible to forget that Christmas is just around the corner, we see advertising on our TV’s, in the shops, on the radio and we read about it in magazines and newspapers, but what is Christmas all about? How have things changed since the time that Christmas began?
Originally Christmas was all about Christians celebrating the birth of Jesus, now it has become a time where the kids are looking forward to seeing what Santa has left for them in their Christmas stockings and under the Christmas tree.
Santa Claus (St. Nicholas) was a wealthy man who gave gifts to poor who were struggling financially, however, he didn’t want them to know where the gifts had come from, so he gave in such a way so the folk would find his gifts but not know who gave them, hence the myth about Father Christmas.
However, for many people nowadays, Christmas has become a time where families worry about the cost of Christmas rather than looking forward to the occasion. The temptation to take out loans and credit cards can prove to be irresistible with the thought of Christmas costs looming and how they are going to afford it.
Having said that, people do like to celebrate Christmas, it is a time for families, parties and celebrations, however, the costs involved are still a major factor of the celebrations. The purchasing of decorations, food, drink and spending on travel all adds to the cost proving that Christmas is the most expensive time of year for families in the UK.
The Association of Payment Clearing Services (Apacs) said they expect the total UK spending in December to be a staggering £48.7bn, a rise of 11% on last years spend in that one month!
Free debt advice agencies such as Payplan ( www.payplan.com ) say that the amount of enquiries they usually experience in December is significantly less in comparison to other months throughout the year, however February is the time they receive the highest amount of enquiries, due to debtors denying the true cost of Christmas until they realise their finances have been crippled.
The figures reflect what happens in the credit industry in the months surrounding December. People take out loans or spend on credit cards in order to keep up with the costs of Christmas and then look for ways to deal with their finances in the New Year. A survey conducted by Payplan in 2003 showed that over 45% of people were still paying for presents bought in 2002.
Already people who use debt forums are talking about how they are feeling the pressure of Christmas and looking for ways to ease the stress and find ways to cope with Christmas costs without adding to their existing debt problems. “It’s just a bit of a depressing time for people trapped in debt!!” said one poster, “The true sprit of Christmas has been hijacked by marketing and advertising people and whipped into a three months spending frenzy “ said another.
Marketing and advertising make their job of easing the costs very difficult, but they are determined not to get into more financial difficulty because of the price tag on Christmas, “I have been buying stocking fillers for the children in sales when I see them and I have told all family my limit is £5 each as they are token gifts and its the thought that counts. All my family have more disposable income than I do. So with such a small budget I have been doing alot of shopping around. “
Christmas needs to be a time to put smiles on peoples faces, not to cause stress and difficulty in trying to keep up with all the costs put before them in order to enjoy, what should be a happy occasion. “Christmas is about family and I hope my family understand that it is better to have a token gift rather than get me in debt again.”
Nicky has been working with people with debt problems for a number of years. “Every situation is different and anyone in debt should not have to pay to get out of debt”. Nicky also administrates an online debt forum www.debtquestions.co.uk where she also offers advice and solutions for people seeking answers to their debt questions.

Decorate Your Love Life By Cynthia Perkins, M.Ed. © 2003
Christmas time, Winter Solstice or whatever holiday you
celebrate provides you with an abundance of ways to have fun
with your partner and spice things up in the bedroom or whatever
room you like. With all the gift giving and decorating, you can
use this as an opportunity to decorate your love life.
To give your lover a real treat, you can wrap your naked self in
wrapping paper or a big red bow or cover your birthday suit with
a variety of small bows strategically placed and lie underneath
the Xmas tree to be unwrapped.
There are numerous variations you could add to that scenario,
such as hanging or inserting candy canes in “special places” or
melting chocolate and pouring it over those “special places,”
(after it has cooled, of course), to be licked off.
Visit your local adult toy store and fill a stocking with a
variety of your lover’s favorite naughty toys or some new ones
that you have never tried as a couple.
Hide a special gift such as a lovely thong or sexy briefs on the
Xmas tree for your lover to find.
You could make a thong out of ribbon and use tinsel as your boa
or wrap around and dance for your lover. You could also put some
bells on your bows or your ribbon for a little added jingle.
Share a box of holiday chocolates by feeding them to one another
with your fingers and eating them off each other’s bodies. Don’t
forget to softly lick each other’s fingers clean.
Show up at your lover’s door wearing sexy lingerie or nothing
under your coat and sing them Xmas carols.
Make a homemade Xmas card and insert a naked photo of yourself.
Hang mistletoe everywhere throughout your house and kiss your
lover under every one of them or strategically place the
mistletoe on your body for your lover to kiss each area.
Making love under the Xmas tree with all the lights off except
the tree lights can be very romantic and fun.
Create a naughty Xmas land by decorating your bed and bedroom
with lights, tinsel, and icicles.
Trim your tree naked or wearing your hot Santa boxers or sexy
little Elf costume.
String some popcorn and wrap it around your body for your lover
to have a little snack.
Put some holiday lights or candles in the bathroom, turn on your
favorite holiday tunes and take a long sensual bath together.
Give your lover a homemade holiday coupon that entitles them to
an evening of lovemaking of their choice.
Present your lover with their holiday gifts wearing nothing but
your birthday suit or the sexiest underwear you can find. Don’t
forget your Santa hat!
Be sure to let your lover know how much you love them, how
important they are to you and how much you appreciate them,
either by whispering it sensuously in their ear, writing it
lovingly in a poem, or enclosing it in their Xmas card.
Oh the opportunities are about infinite. Use your imagination,
be creative and have a fun and passionate holiday.

Most experienced marketers are in awe of the amazing power of
articles.
Distributed in a consistent and structured submission pattern,
they provide a force to drive insane amounts of traffic to any
website.
And yet some online enthusiasts shy away from article submission
in the mistaken belief that the process is tedious and time
consuming whereas nothing could be further from the truth.
Certainly there is something of a learning curve to be
negotiated in the matter of creative writing but with the amount
of assistance available online nowadays, that is not a problem
for anyone requiring tuition.
A sound practice for beginners is to examine how knowledgeable
writers tackle the procedure.
1. How they craft compelling headlines 2. How they relate the
story seamlessly from the start to the finish 3. How they
interlace the text with core keywords 4. How they break up
forbidding blocks of copy with bullet points and numbers 5. How
they use short chunky paragraphs for ease of reading 6. How they
couch the all-important resource box
Studying the output of experienced practitioners opens the
gateway to the prime source of creative writing in its
application to article composition.
Twenty six funny looking little characters that come together to
provide 1984 pages of The Chambers Dictionary with 300,000 word
definitions and 215,000 references; they are the fodder for
countless millions of letters, books, poems, plays, and articles
down the ages and in perpetuity.
They are the colors in the virtual paint box that can be mixed
and matched to produce hundreds of thousands of words to
communicate and illuminate thousands of online articles.
abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
No one can steal a march on beginners when they use these
characters creatively and wisely; no one can cheat by adding to
or subtracting from the list. And no one can staunch their
creativity when beginners capitalize on the amazing power of
words to compose articles.
There is no gain without some pain but here is what is in store
for beginners who take the trouble to master article composition
and distribution:
- Articles establish writers as experts in their particular
areas of skill
- Articles help increase sales
- Articles generate floods of website traffic
- Articles increase Google Page Rank
- Articles to boost Alexa ratings
Of equal significance to the aspiring article writer is the
choice of submission software; choose the right one and success
in attracting traffic is all but guaranteed; chose the wrong one
and the result could labelling as an amateur - or worse still, a
spammer.
