Premium is the total amount of money (price) you pay for an
option. So, if the Microsoft (MSFT) May 65 calls cost you $1.50
then the $1.50 is the amount of the premium of the option.
The total price of an option (premium) consists of two
components. Those two components are intrinsic value and
extrinsic value.
Please view charts below for option price (premium) examples.
Intrinsic value, also called parity, is the amount by which an
option is in the money. In the case of a call, the intrinsic
value is equal to the present stock price minus the strike
price. In the case of a put, the intrinsic value is equal to the
strike price minus the present stock price. Only in-the-money
options have intrinsic value. Out-of-the-money options have no
intrinsic value.
For example, with MSFT trading at $65.00, the MSFT January 60
calls will have $5.00 of intrinsic value. If the MSFT January 60
calls were trading at $5.70, then $5.00 of that premium would be
intrinsic value.
At the same time, the MSFT January 70 put will also have $5.00
of intrinsic value. So, if the MSFT January 70 puts were trading
for $5.70, then $5.00 of that premium would be intrinsic value.
Please view charts below for intrinsic value examples.
Extrinsic value is defined as the price of an option less its
intrinsic value. In the case of out-of-the-money options, the
option’s entire price consists only of extrinsic value.
Extrinsic value is made up of several components, with the
largest being volatility.
In the examples above, if the MSFT January 60 calls were trading
at $5.70 and $5.00 of that was intrinsic value, then the
remainder ($.70) is extrinsic value. The same also holds true
for the January 70 puts. If they were trading at $5.70 and $5.00
of that was intrinsic value, then the rest ($.70) is extrinsic
value.
Please view charts below for extrinsic value examples.

Owning your own domain name (.com) is easier than you think. And, if you are in any type of business – even a hobby business, non-profit business or a club/association – having your own identity with a domain name is very important to your professional image.
It is important in:
• Customer recognition
• Easy to find in search engines
• Decrease in the website address length
• Cohesive email address – youremail@yourdomain.com
• Ability to offer additional email addresses to staff/workers/volunteers to keep business issues in a business email
• Personal ownership and pride
Acquiring your domain is really a simple process. All domains must be registered with InterNic. This registration service is offered by a variety of companies, called “registrars”. Registrars have the legal authority to sell the registration of a domain. They each also can set their own prices.
To find a registrar, you can search one of the search engines for “domain name registration” and then evaluate the pricing and what is included. (The company I use is www.TotalWebsitesOnline.com) In today’s market, a registration should not be more than $10 per year. Most are about $8.95 per year. Cheaper offers are there, but watch out for the fine print. More expensive ones are there as well.
Your registration fee should include, at a minimum:
• Complete Email
• Forwarding / Masking
• Starter Web Page (NOT an under-construction page)
• “For Sale” and/or Parked Page (under construction page)
• Domain Name Locking
• Email Forwards or aliases (at least 10)
• Telephone and Email support
Most registrars also offer hosting, marketing and a variety of other internet tools.
Once you find your registrar, you are ready to being the process. Most follow the same basic procedure. They should have a search form or box – “Register Your Domain Name Here” or “Search for Your Domain Name Here”.
Enter your domain name choice – choosing either a “.com” or a “.net”. If you are an organization, you can try for the “.org” as well. I do not recommend any of the other “extensions” such as “.ws”, “.info” or “.biz” as a first choice.
If a domain is already registered by someone else, you are not able to register that domain. Many companies, like TotalWebsitesOnline will offer suggestions that are available if your first choice is not. If your choice is not available, try again.
When you find a domain name that is available, you will have the option to continue with the registration process. You may also have the option to choose the other extensions at a discount. If you have a business, you may want to purchase these, especially if your name is trademarked or you plan on having it trademarked.
Complete the information accurately and be sure to use an email address that you have constant access to. Notices will go this email account.
Many registrars now offer “Privacy Registrations” or “Registrations by Proxy”. If you do not want your information (name, address, phone, email) to be accessible by a search of the InterNic database WHOIS, this is an add-on you might want to consider. Most companies offer this service for about $10 per year.
Once you have made your selections, check-out and the domain is yours!

Background:
The High Definition TV “experience” continues to drive manufacturers to offer truly digital devices. The days of analog video interfaces are limited. In previous articles, we touched on HDMI connections. It is clear that HD sources such as DVD players, Cable settop boxes, satellite boxes are transitioning to the HDMI standard. It is inevitable that future HD sources such as HD DVD players (HD or Blue Ray), and Playstation 3 will utilize HDMI as the interface standard. With all these new HDMI source, how does one get the desired input to the HD monitor? In this article, we will get into the details of such a device: the HDMI switch.
What is a HDMI switch:
A HDMI switch allows the end user to select multiple HDMI sources, such as DVD players, settop boxes, into 1 HD monitor. The basic models available are 2×1 HDMI switch, which simply means that there are 2 inputs and 1 output. The 2X1 HDMI switch allows the user to switch between 2 HDMI sources. There are also 4×1 HDMI switches available which allows the user to select up to 4 HDMI sources. By the way, we highly encourage users to select 4 port model for future expandability.
Why do I need a HDMI switch: Anyone who has a HD monitor with less than the desired number of HDMI inputs can use an external HDMI switch to expand the system.
What features do I look for in a HDMI switch:
- Expandability: 4 ports devices are recommended for future expandability. If you use a 2 port, then you have no expandability. It is likely that future HD sources such as games stations, HD DVD player/recorders will utilize HDMI.
- HDCP transparancy: any switch must pass HDCP data between source and monitor.
- Backward compatibility with DVI-D: There is a mix of both HDMI and DVI-D devices in the field. Users should select a HDMI switch rather than a DVI-D switch since HDMI is backward compatible with DVI-D. With a HDMI switch., the user just chooses the correct cables needed; either HDMI or HDMI to DVI-D to customize to your system.
- Remote control: A remote control to select the desired channel is essential.
Design consideration of a HDMI switch:
HDMI is extremely high speed digital transmission standard with an aggregate data rate of ~4.95 Gbps. Jean Baptiste Fourier (1768-1830) showed that any signal waveform can be resolved into a summation of harmonically related sine waves. The amplitude of the sine waves can be determined by calculation of Fourier transforms.
So what in the word does some dead French mathematician have to do with the HDMI switch? Well, Fourier tells us that the waveform is a summation of harmonically related sine waves. Therefore, higher data rate, higher frequency sine waves. Incidentally, the frequency of the fundamental sine wave is ½ of the data rate. For example, the fundamental frequency of a 2 Gbps ( 50 %duty cycle ) square wave is 1GHz.
As data rates increase, every aspect of the switch design (every millimeter) becomes critical because the wavelengths of the signals approach the size of the components on board. The 3 critical parameters to consider are:
Impedance Match:
HDMI is based on a 100 ohm (differential) impedance. It is imperative that the switch be optimized to match this characteristic impedance. Any imperfections of the board layout will cause “reflections” which degrades signal transmission to the HD monitor. Think of “reflections” as signals that are lost between the inputs to the output. Utilizing careful RF and Microwave layout techniques minimizes these reflections.
Minimum Insertion Loss:
Signal loss should be minimized in order to maximize signal integrity to the output of the HDMI switch. Again, utilizing careful RF and Microwave layout techniques minimizes insertion loss.
Minimum Cross Talk:
With multiple inputs (up to 4), all potentially being active at same time, it is imperative that the desired channel not be interfered from any undesired channels. Again, careful RF microwave design techniques minimize cross talk.

Generally, chemical peels can be arranged into three categories of light, medium and deep. Light peels are used to help dry skin, acne, liver spots, sun spots, diminish fine facial wrinkles and pore size and improve overall skin texture. Light peels are done in a series of six to eight sessions with two or three week periods in between. After a light peel the skin is only slightly red for about a day. Medium chemical peels are used to remove larger wrinkles and precancerous skin lesions. These peels are done only once every few years and the skin will be burned for about a week during which time the patient should stay indoors and out of the sun. Deep chemical peels eliminate larger wrinkles and can have facelift-like effects. However skin will remain damaged for a month or two after treatment.
Some types of chemicals used for chemical peels include alphahydroxy acids (AHAs) which are used to smooth rough, dry skin, controls acne, improves sun-damaged skin, correct pigment problems, and as TCA pre-treatment, trichoracetic acid (TCA) which is used to smooth out fine wrinkles, remove superficial blemishes and correct pigment problems, and phenol which is used to correct skin problems caused by sun exposure, birth control pills and aging, to remove pre-cancerous growths and to smooth out coarse wrinkles.

In sharp contrast to warranty options on desktop PCs, consider advising your clients to purchase the maximum extended warranty coverage they can with a new notebook PC purchase. Even beyond a potential hard drive failure on a notebook, consider the cost of replacing the LCD screen.
Potential Costs for Replacements
Unlike a conventional PC monitor, notebook PC LCD screens are highly specialized for particular notebooks. If a client needed to replace a standard 17″ or 19″ monitor that’s out of warranty, your client would generally have no problem finding equivalent products at local retail outlets for relatively modest prices of about $200 to $300.
For a notebook PC LCD screen, your clients would almost never find the parts in stock locally. And the LCD screen, related assembly, and cable purchased separately easily could run $1,000 or more.
Ask Questions
As a consultant, you should ask questions of your client and the warranty provider before making any recommendation. For example, ask:
Are the notebook PCs that your major clients own typically used more in the office or in the field?
Can you get a copy of the notebook PC system warranty statement?
How does the notebook PC warranty statement differ from the desktop PC warranty statement?
Does the warranty specifically include or exclude certain hardware components?
Are there any warranty restrictions regarding replacement of the hard drive or LCD panel?
What is the duration of the included warranty coverage?
Is your PC vendor the one selling and honoring the extended warranty policy? If the extended warranty is subordinated to a third party and the third party goes out of business, will your PC vendor still honor the warranty?
The Bottom Line about Notebook PCs
So because of the risks of hard drive and LCD screen failures on a notebook PC, buying an extended service plan becomes a no-brainer for most of your clients. This is also the primary reason extended warranties on notebook PCs cost a lot more than comparable extended warranties on desktop PCs.

There was a time in my life that I used to put myself down. I found fault with everything on the inside, everything on the outside, and every area where I was just not good enough.
This time period lasted most of my life. I would venture to say that I am not alone in this, and that perhaps there might be a time that you also put yourself down.
Did it ever do you any good? Did it help you, or help you to overcome your challenges? Did putting yourself down and finding fault with yourself ever lead you to feel that you are, in fact, a worthy human being who is equally worthy along with the rest of the human race?
I would venture to say that your answer would be no.
Playing small is not doing anyone a favor. Playing larger than others is also not much of a pure contribution to our world. What about playing fairly? How about being fair with yourself?
It’s true that none of us are perfect. We are not machines, and even machines at times could use a tune up.
When you put yourself down, it is like you are destroying the goodness that you really are. It’s wonderful to feel modest, and it’s wonderful to feel that you are just as valuable as any other human being. When you cur yourself down either within your own mind, or out loud to others, nothing valuable is truly being expressed.
If you put yourself down, it is time that a spring cleaning begins within your mind. Here are some suggestions that you might find useful.
Notice when you are thinking about yourself in a degrading way.
Become consciously aware of the thoughts that are swirling through your mind.
Then, rather than allow them to swirl, and allow them to be verbalized, stop yourself for just one moment.
Ask yourself if there is a kinder comment you could be saying about yourself. Perhaps you are caring, or loving. Perhaps you have a great sense of humor. Perhaps there is nothing truly wrong with you other than what you might have been led to believe by others. Perhaps, if you truly think about it, you are not as bad as you might make yourself out to be.
Anyone can have a rough day, lose patience, or simply lose sight of their true essence. All of the goodness inside of your heart is who you truly are.
Your goodness is your value and worth as a human being, equal to all other human beings. What you look like, own, drive, achieve, succeed or fail at has absolutely nothing to do with the goodness inside of your heart. THAT is who you really are.
Imagine making the conscious choice to stop all self degrading comments. Imagine applying the old saying “if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say anything at all” to yourself. What if you applied this to yourself? You would speak about the truth that is not based on anything outside of the goodness inside of your heart.
Imagine that you brought out all of the goodness you truly have within you, and replaced that with the negative comments. Then, you would be doing both yourself any many others a nice favor. You would set an example of being good enough simply by sharing and expressing the goodness you have within your heart and this example would touch the lives of others in a positive way.
Imagine if everyone only expressed their goodness, because this is what they were focusing on instead of the no good, degrading, destructive negative commentary. Can you imagine how much better people would feel? Can you imagine how much better you would feel?
Give it a try. Cease all negative self talk, and instead, speak about what is good, both on the inside and on the outside. Focus on what you value within you, especially the qualities you have. Then, bring them out in some form of expression from your heart simply because it would bring you joy to do this.
What are your natural talents? What are your natural states of being that cause you to feel alive? Did you ever have an experience when you felt vibrant and alive, even for just a few minutes? What were you doing? What qualities were you expressing? This is what would do you a world of good to both remember, as well as get in touch with again.
Being hard on yourself is not doing yourself any sort of favor, and it is certainly not truly helping anyone else either. So, why bother? Be kind to yourself instead. Start to take personal responsibility to catch the negative mind banter, and replace it with positive truth.
Start to bring that truth out as an example of being a human being with a good nature, and expressing that good nature to yourself and all others. Then you would truly be doing both yourself and others a bigger favor than you may realize. You can set a modest and pure example of being someone who is good enough simply by being. Every person deserves to feel this basic and pure worth. None of it is truly outside of you, although it can be expressed in many kind ways. Its expression can only come out from within you when you get in touch with all of the good you really are.
Remember this the next time you put yourself down. Remember to speak about the truth instead of the lies you may still believe. When all is said and done, after conscious effort, this will be the new way that you view yourself, and this view will naturally spread to how you view others; with compassion instead of judgment.
Rather than playing small, play from the goodness inside of your heart. You will always go right, and can never fail. You will feel better, and the people around you will feel better in your presence. As you get in touch with all of your goodness something wonderful happens; it’s all you truly express.

The tomato has been called many things throughout history: Peruvian apple, love apple, and even, by Americans at least, a vegetable. Today, however, this lovely fruit is fast becoming known as Superfood!
While not able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, this super hero of the nutrition world is able to do some pretty amazing things. For example, some studies show the tomato may help decrease the risk of prostate cancer, as well as breast, lung and stomach cancers. And the Herald Sun reported in 2003 that the yellow jelly around the seeds have yet another benefit: They may stop blood cells from clumping together, which sometimes leads to strokes and heart attacks.
What is it about this little red fruit that makes it so amazing? Lycopene.
Okay, so the word lycopene doesn’t sound very appetizing, but this powerful antioxidant is the chemical in tomatoes that not only is responsible for it’s red color, but also responsible for its disease-fighting powers.
Just ask an Italian. Italian cooking relies very heavily on tomatoes and tomato products. And, some studies have suggested that this heavy intake of tomatoes by Italians has resulted in a lowering of cancer of the digestive tract.
Now, you’re probably thinking you have to consume tons and tons of fresh tomatoes to enjoy any health benefits. Not true. In one research study it was reported that people who ate tomatoes at least every other day had greater lung capacity. And, the tomatoes don’t even have to be fresh! Again, research shows that the lycopene in tomatoes is more easily absorbed by the body if processed into ketchup, sauce and paste. So, not only are tomatoes a superfood, they’re an easy superfood to include in your diet.
Of course, fresh tomatoes are still beneficial, and packed with wonderful nutrients (not to mention delicious). Just remember the one rule of fresh tomatoes: don’t put them in the refrigerator. The refrigerator destroys not only the flavor, it also destroys the nutrients.
So, go ahead, do something good for your health tonight. Have a tomato.

When somebody has done something good, it is right to provide
him or her some rewards. For all the hardships and continuous
service to the community, a worker is entitled to all the
required benefits in exchange for all the services that he or
she has done.
It is for this reason that retirement benefits are extremely
important. It is solely the best gratification one could ever
have after so many years of working hard.
In the military, people who work for the government and for
their respective community should likewise be entitled to
receive the benefits that are due for them.
Basically, military retirement is available in three
remuneration plans. These plans were authorized by the Congress,
which are entitled for every military personnel who have
rendered the needed services to the government and to the whole
country as well.
Military retirement plans are unique on its basic concept
inclusive of the service dates, in which the amount of
retirement benefits will be based from.
These military retirement benefits involve the “primary service
dates” that provides the DIEMS or the “Date of Initial Entry
into Military Service” and the service date as stipulated in the
Title 10, Section 1405 of the United States Code.
For a complete understanding of the benefits in military
retirement, here is a list of the three remuneration plans.
1. DIEMS before September 8, 1980
For military personnel whose DIEMS is before September 8, 1980,
the military retirement benefit is based on the product of the
military personnel’s monthly income and the 2 ½% of the
concerned personnel’s years of service.
This plan is known as the present military retirement plan.
2. DIEMS between September 8, 1980 and July 31, 1986
Any military personnel whose service dates falls between
September 8, 1980 and July 31, 1986, the expected retirement pay
is the product of the 2 ½ % of the personnel’s years of service
and the average of a personnel’s “highest 36 months” of the
basic take-home pay based on the days of active duty.
This military retirement plan is known as the “High 36/50
Percent Plan.”
3. DIEMS on or after August 1, 1986
Any military personnel whose DIEMS is on or after August 1,
1986, the amount of the expected retirement benefit is the
product of 2 ½% of the personnel’s years of service, but less
than 1% for every year of service that is below 30 years, and
the average of the personnel’s maximum income on a 36-month
remuneration.
This plan is called “High 36/40 Percent Plan.”
Indeed, any of these three plans will definitely give the
military people enough financial aid by the time they retired
from service.
