Drugged

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I have given up on love even before I could welcome the thought that it truly exists. Perhaps I have felt it lurking somewhere inside me for so many times in the past but I brushed it away till it is too weak to ever wanna try to enthrall me again.

I am not bitter or anything like that. I’ve seen people fall in love in a thousand different ways. I have seen their eyes sparkle like no other bright star can. I heard it’s serenade. Lovers float in a warm embrace. I do not condemn them for a heart’s surrender. I envy them. It takes a lot of courage to allow yourself to fall in love.

I have always been afraid of love. Afraid of wanting and needing somebody so much. I have successfully convinced myself that I am better off alone. The sun will still shine for me in my waking hours. I turn away everytime love finds me worthy. I wonder why people fall in love when after all the happy moments, they know there’s bitter end. After all the sparkles in the eyes, a tear awaits to fall and behind those smiles…a frown was drawn. No, I am not ready to get hurt. Forever only exists in fairybook tales and in this world where everything is slowly getting older and hopeless romantics choose to cling on to their childish fantasies, I let reality build walls around me.

But this morning, I woke up trembling. The sun was shining a little more brighter than it used to. I never allowed too much light to come into my room for I know, it will blind me. It’s rays peeped through my bedroom window as if threatening me to divulge my deepest desire… A secret that I myself wasn’t aware of. It scared me. Could it be that I turned out to be someone…or worst, something different during my sleep? I looked at myself in the mirror and saw someone else’s reflection. It was a face I’ve seen in my lifetime. How could I forget those lines, those curves? But no, I haven’t seen that kind of smile before.I woke up in a world completely different from the one that I have grown comfortable with. I wished I was dreaming….

But I wasn’t. Someone broke down the walls around me and rearranged my life. I am now seeing the world through someone else’s eyes. Every little thing matters. Every little thing whispers an unknown promise and something, somewhere inside of me reassures my shaken soul that it’s gonna be wonderful. I screamed from the top of my lungs hoping that my quivering voice would somehow drown the sound of my own heartbeat. But it is more powerful. Something that I can no longer escape. I close my eyes and a face a appears. I hear a voice. I feel the strength of an embrace that weakens me. I have gone insane and lost control. I have fallen in love.

Cause of Social Anxiety Disorder

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

There is no clear mandate on the exact cause of social anxiety disorder. There are many assumptions about it, which include a combination of a person’s genetic make up, early childhood and adolescent experiences. It could be caused by a person’s genetic predisposition. And just as physical features like eye and hair color are inherited, social anxiety disorder can also be passed on from one generation to the other. It has been proven that in some cases anxiety disorders run through generations. It has also been noticed among identical twins that if one of them has an anxiety disorder, the other is also likely to have the disorder, so there is an obvious link between anxiety disorders and ones genes.

The second commonly believed cause originated from a study of animal behavior, which says that all animals are fearful of others, especially strangers looking or staring at them. Staring is generally considered threatening behavior, and can unsettle the other person. Therefore, avoiding eye contact or averting the gaze is very common in people with social anxiety disorder. It is usually seen that fear of strangers develops in very young babies, as early as 7 months of age. Though it is natural for young children to be anxious around strangers, trauma or stress in the early years is perceived as a probable cause for this order.

It is also believed that anxiety is caused by the structure of our brain. Our brain controls all our thinking, physiological functions and behavior. Anxiety symptoms are often relieved by medicines that change the chemical balance of the brain. In fact, our anxiety response system is centered in our brain, and there are certain critical components in the brain that regulate our response to anxiety. Individuals with social anxiety disorder probably have abnormalities in the functioning of some parts of their anxiety response system.

An individual’s personality may also play an important role. It has been noticed that people with low self-esteem and poor coping skills are more prone to social anxiety disorders. Whereas it may also be possible that anxiety disorder in a child’s early years has led to the low self-esteem, psychologists also believe that there may be an important relationship between anxiety disorders and long-term exposure to abuse and violence.

Digital Photo Printing Online

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

If you are like me having a photo processing lab in your office is too much to resist. I bought a $360 digital camera, a $400 color photo printer and I was ready for business. Or so I thought. I took piles of pictures and filled my hard drive up with somewhat goofy pictures of all my kids, neighbors, cars and pets. I was really pleased just to have them on my computer ready to peruse at my leisure. When I showed them to relatives they often requested copies that I was dying to make with my new lab equipment.

Printing pictures at home was too expensive and the quality was poor

After printing the first 2 or 3 photos it struck me that they were not fit to put in a frame that would grace the walls of my 800 square foot apartment. I could still see the printer lines when I looked closely. Although the picture on the computer was incredibly clear, the printed copy had lost its crisp edge. I still did not give up hope. I wanted to print my own photos! I set out to find the highest quality inks and the finest of photo papers. All at its due cost I was ready to process some photos that would make my neighbors and colleagues sick with jealousy. To make a long story short I have not used my color printer since that day and I have a drawer in my desk full of rather expensive blank photo paper.

I lived the next few years content with flipping through folders on my laptop when family was in town. When they were out of town I would avoid their phone calls and email the pictures in hopes that they would find a compressed photo sufficient to fulfill their needs.

Then out of the blue my husband decided to learn more about photography in a three week course offered at a nearby local college. Every night he would come home and rattle on about all the cutting edge information they taught him about the new digital photography age that we had entered.

You can print your digital photos online

In the midst of his sharing this information I heard him mention that the professor owned a rather large chain of camera shops.

Printing photos online and getting them in the mail was easy

They offered online photo uploads that would be processed and mailed to you in your selected sizes and various other options. It flicked a switch in my rather foggy brain and I realized that I could have my very own photo processing lab. Instead of retrieving the photos from my printer I just had to get them out of my mailbox.

Right away I jumped online and began uploading my favorite pictures. It was a piece of cake and the first few prints were free for signing up. A few days later I was putting more nails in my walls to hang some very beautiful, professional prints that I had made with my own digital camera in my very own home.

First of all every one have to understand about the

Then he has to understand the Google Adwords. Let

traffic to website at minimum costs by advertisers to the
website operators to make money for having the ads displayed on
their websites.

Website Promotion - The Power of Writing Articles

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

I’ve been operating two small retail Websites for several years with modest success. Recently, I decided to branch out into a different area of e-commerce. I set up five different Websites at once and I wanted to find a way to obtain a lot of links to my Websites in a hurry. I wasn’t interested in paying for promotion, and I don’t care for the tedious process of exchanging links. On a lark, I typed the phrase “unusual Website promotion techniques” into Google, just to see what sort of search results came up.

That search yielded mostly Websites for companies that were offering to promote Websites for a fee, but one link did catch my eye – a site that mentioned writing articles to provide free content for Websites. I read the article on the Website and realized that I had found what I was looking for. This seemed to promise inexpensive, useful, fast results. I would write articles about topics that were relevant to my Websites and submit them to sites that would provide them to other sites that needed content. In exchange for this, I would receive a link back to my site. I decided to give it a try.

I did a search for “free content” on the Web, and made a list of sites that accepted articles and offered “live” links to the author’s Websites. I wrote an article of 400 words or so, submitted it to several different free content sites and waited. In order to accurately judge the effectiveness of this technique, I used a version of my name that I generally do not use as my author name. That way, I could do searches for my name in search engines and be certain that all results related to articles I had written. I submitted my first article in the afternoon and I I did a search for my author name in Google the next morning. I was astonished to see that not only had my article been published by several sites, but my author name turned up in search results just fourteen hours after I had submitted the article!

Clearly, I was on to something. I began writing articles in earnest. It wasn’t hard; as I am promoting seven different Websties, I had seven different topics to choose from. In the six weeks or so since I published my first article, I have written 60 more on topics relating to seven of my Websites. In that six weeks’ time, the total number of links from external sites to my own sites has increased from 765 to 11302. The growth in the number of external links to my sites has been explosive, and I’m now getting daily traffic to each of my sites. In just six weeks, I have managed to obtain a level of traffic that previously took me more than a year to obtain through traditional Website promotion methods. If you have a knack for writing, submitting free content articles is a great, fast, effective Website promotion tool. I highly recommend it.

Wine Accessories - The things you need.

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

What is soup without a spoon? What is pen without paper? What is
wine without accessories? If you said “incomplete” then you are
correct. Let’s start with the basics. In order to enjoy wine
properly you need a wine glass (also known as stemware). And not
just any wine glass, the shape of the wine glass and the
material it is made of makes a big difference. According to the
IneTours website, wine glasses with large, broad bowls are used
for bold red wines with bigger bouquets and and narrower wine
glasses are used for lighter white wines. If champagne is your
beverage of choice then stick to a tall, slender glass. Why does
all this matter? Well, the shape of the glass helps concentrate
the aroma of the wine and the material of the wine glass helps
aerate the wine. Whatever glass you choose make sure it has a
stem so that you don’t get fingerprints on the bowl of the
glass. Once you choose your wine glass make sure you don’t fill
it up to the top! Halfway full will be just fine. After you are
done with your serving, wash your glass. Some experts say using
hot water is enough, and some recommend using detergent.
Whatever you choose to do, make sure you hold the glass up to
the light to ensure that it is truly clean. That seems basic but
wine often leaves a fine coat of scum in glasses. The next thing
is pretty basic. You want to enjoy your wine right? Well you
have to be able to open it. Invest in a good wine opener. There
are several styles to choose from. There is the lever-style,
twist-style, waiter-style, pump-style, rogar uncorking machines
and wing corkscrews. Each style of wine opener has its benefits.
You can expect to spend from $18 for a basic style to $200 for a
more advanced machine.

Next you might want to consider a wine decanter. Decanting wine
is an excellent way to improve the taste. What’s decanting?
Well, when wine ages it accumulates sediment. The sediment is
not only ugly, but it tastes bad too. This occurs most often
with red wine. When you decant, you aerate the wine thus
improving the taste. Also, decanters make great centerpieces for
tables. Depending on your budget, a decanter will run you
anywhere from $20 to in excess of $500. If you are a heavy wine
drinker you may want a wine cooler. No, I am not talking about
the $5 flavored wine you buy at the gas station. Wine coolers
are best for white or sparkling wines. Whether you are looking
for a small wine cooler for the kitchen or a full sized wine
cellar there is a cooler for you. You can expect to spend $200
for a table top wine cooler to $900 for a 100 bottle cooler. Now
you have your checklist. Choose a wine glass based on the type
of drink you are having and make sure you thoroughly clean it.
Next make sure you have the proper tool to open your wine
bottle. If you are drinking older wine, consider investing in a
decanter. And if wine is your regular drink of choice, think
about a wine cooler. Once you get everything situated, enjoy!

Forums Or Safelists: Which One Is The Better Investment?

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Generating traffic to your website is the eternal quest of the on-line marketer. And there are as many theories as there are marketers. Some people push new content, some advocate high search engine rankings, many use pay-per-click, and some even recommend writing articles! But these methods are seeking traffic from the mass audience, like broadcasting your advertising on a TV channel. But there are two methods that send your advertising to self-selected audiences: forums and safelists.

Forums are groups of people who are gathered around a specific topic. There are forums for non-custodial fathers, marital arts like karate or MMA, religious sects, and hobbies. The overwhelming majority of people who join these forums do so to be able to discuss the topics and get new ideas and maybe meet people. Some forums are monitored by leaders who have the authority to delete non-conforming messages, or even kick people out. Some forums are not monitored at all, and generally degrade into either a free-for-all or drift slowly into an apathetic death. So an active, focused forum is where you want to advertise. However, your product or service MUST be related to the topic (or the members will tag you a “spammer” and ignore you or kick you out).

Also, you cannot simply post ads. The most effective method is to participate in the forum, and place a one-line advertisement with a link in your signature. The key is to make relative, informative, and cogent postings to the forum, so that other members recognize that you have some expertise in the area, which may inspire them to click on your link. Thus traffic is born.

Safelists, on the other hand, are lists of members who agree to accept email advertising from the other members of the list. In this way, the members avoid getting spam (unsolicited email containing advertising), while at the same time, getting email containing advertising. These lists generally are not focused on any topic, but have members who want to read your advertising, especially if it is related to on-line marketing or business. The key here is to have a headline or subject line on the email that you send to the list, to inspire the members to open your email. A sales letter that hits the emotional hot-buttons is vital to getting the safelist member to click to your website. Also, giving something away for free gets visitors to your website.

So which one is better? Forums generally will drive fewer visitors (because you will only get a percentage of the people who read and are interested in your signature, not your entire posting), and it takes time to develop that “expert” reputation. Safelists may get you more traffic, but it usually is in the form of “window shoppers” rather than serious buyers, because the email is designed to pique their curiosity, not necessarily their interest.

My experience is that if you have a highly focused product, like a resource for non-custodial fathers, your website will get visitors who are more motivated to purchase from forums. On the other hand, if your product is of general application, or related to internet marketing, safelists will produce more traffic, which you can capture (to build a list), but not necessarily more sales.

The solution, obviously, is to use both. But make sure you spend your time in the arena that’s going to return the traffic you want. You can have 500 visitors and 50 sales or 10,000 visitors and 5 sales. I’ve had both. I’ll take the sales. So will you.

10 Adrenaline Shots For Writers…

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Okay, I wrote these motivators for my screenwriting crew. But
they apply to ALL creative writers who need some serious
kick-in-the-pants motivation.

Here goes:

1. BEEF UP YOUR CHARACTERS

Take a look at your main characters, and make sure that your
readers will appreciate them as much as you do.

Is your hero being heroic enough?

Is the villain suitably villainous?

Give them plenty to do, and make sure you emphasize their unique
qualities.

2. GET ON THE PHONE

Market yourself and your work by calling the local press and
some carefully targeted production companies. Let them know
you’re out there, and what you’re capable of.

Be ready to back up your calls with written material, and choose
who you call by looking at their own track records - don’t call
a documentary film company to tell them about your Western drama.

3. LOSE THE FAT.

While some people obsess over counting their calories,
screenwriters should be trimming another kind of fat - the
padding that curses many a fine screenplay (including the
monstrous King Kong).

4. GET A LIFE

(if you haven’t already). You’re not going to write about a
variety of human experience sitting at your computer all day.

Don’t feel guilty about leaving your desk, spending time with
friends or getting out for some (gulp) fresh air.

Observe, converse, let the wind blow the cobwebs from your
brain. Old ideas will have time to percolate and new ones will
spring from discussions with your pals.

5. TALK THE TALK

Read your dialogue out loud to make sure it sounds “spoken”
rather than “written.”

If you find it hard to spit a line out, actors are likely to
have the same problem. Change the line!

6. CUT AND PASTE

Make sure your scenes are where they should be. Most writers
have trouble changing something once they’ve written it down;
they’re afraid the words will lose their immediate impact.

Don’t be afraid to swap scenes around to change the sense of a
sequence. Remember, you’re not a caveman! NOTHING IS WRITTEN IN
STONE.

7. BE HONEST

Take elements from your life that you thought you’d never share.
Get your passions on the page. The results will be more human,
honest and relevant than a screenplay that relies on cold
technique.

8. DON’T BE SELFISH

Don’t just write for yourself - think about the audience. Will
your screenplay entertain them? Make them laugh or cry? Give
them their money’s worth?

Isn’t that one of the reasons why you got interested in the
movies in the first place - because some screenwriter cared how
the audience felt?

9. WATCH LOTS OF MOVIES

A tough resolution to keep, sure, but an important one.

Good movies will improve your film grammar in an almost
subliminal fashion, and you can learn how NOT to write a
screenplay by watching the bad ones.

10. START AT THE END

Can you see a sense of progression? Imagine that your hero’s
reached the end of his journey. Looking back, is there a pattern
to his actions? Did he make any choices that affected him or his
world?

Try looking at the end of your screenplay - it will give you a
fresh perspective to work towards.
