What to Look For in Choosing Your Wedding Consultant / Planner?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Wedding consultants / planners are professionals who are good in planning nuptial events from the pre-preparation to the wrapping up of the events. Their expertise in this area could help you relieve the stress of planning for the dream wedding.

Whether this is your first marriage or second one, you might find yourself at a loss of where to start looking.

Depending on you location, you could find that there are thousands of wedding consultants / planners, so which ones are good?

Below are some tips to help you:

Theme of the wedding

First, you must have an idea on what sort of wedding you want and the rough venues for the event. If you are choosing destination weddings, you might want to explore the various locations which you have in mind.

Next, check out if there are any wedding planner associations or government authorized sites to look for the directories of wedding planners / consultants.

You might be able to pick this up from the tourism sites for the more popular wedding destinations. Alternatively, try the yellow pages or phone directory of the area.

Reputation of the wedding consultant / planner

Assess the reputation and expertise of the wedding consultant / planner. Ask for testimonials or samples on their niche areas of expertise.

You could get more neutral ones at forums or blogs. This is a good resource as the testimonials reflected at the wedding sites might just be a handful and it might be hard to come to a decision.

Budget and rapport

Think about the entire wedding budget and how much you can spare for engaging a wedding consultant / planner. Do not over blow your budget. Talk to the wedding consultant / planner on your budget and your idea of a dream wedding and get advice if they can accommodate your requests based on your budget.

Finally, this is your BIG day! Get someone you feel at ease with and could discuss and work. This is important as there are a lot of details which needs to be discussed and worked out between both of you and the wedding planner.

If you cannot stand your wedding planner, then it would make things difficult and unpleasant. So if you don’t have a good feeling after talking to the wedding planner, do consider finding other alternatives. The choice is yours!

Silicone Breast Implants

Silicone Breast Implants

First used in the 1960’s, silicone breast implants provide what
millions of women have desired throughout history; a fuller and
shapelier chest. Prior attempts to change the size of breasts
included fat transplants, paraffin implants and even direct
injection of silicone. All of those attempts had fairly
predictable results, but the new surgical silicone implant
offered both safety (relative) and acceptable results.

Silicone is made by man and has had many uses including
lubricants, adhesive sealants, silly putty and gaskets. When
used in a breast implant silicone resembles the natural look and
feel of real breast tissue. It was an obvious choice when the
first breast implants were created.

However, problems with silicone breast implants began to appear
in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. Thousands of lawsuits left
several chemical companies bankrupt and left millions of women
reeling from debilitating conditions caused by the silicone.
Even though studies failed to show a link between silicone
implants and negative health conditions, the FDA banned the use
of silicone implants.

Today the United States only allows silicone implants as part of
a breast reconstruction or replacement procedure. The FDA is
currently testing a new wave of silicone implants but results of
the test are still years away. Outside of the US 90% of all
breast augmentation surgeries performed still use silicone
implants.

Satellite Radio - How Does It Work?

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

How does satellite radio work? To understand how satellite radio works you must first understand how analog radio works. Analog radio works by broadcasting the radio frequency to local transmitters and then on to the listener. Satellite radio works similarly but instead of using stationary transmitters with limited range to broadcast their media to the people, they use mobile Satellites.

Satellites are equipment that orbit the earth and can pick up and transmit signals globally instead of just in a limited area. In the satellite radio category a satellite bounces the transmitted radio frequency off of the satellite and out to the millions of satellite radio listeners around the world. This has increased the satellite radio industry and has made satellite radio a staple media avenue in our everyday lives. Does this help you to understand the question of how does satellite radio work?

A user such as myself or you, who is interested in satellite radio purchases a satellite radio device whether it be stationary or portable, we purchase the desired satellite radio service from whichever service provider offers us the best variety of programming. Once the subscription to this service is established, the device is programmed into a database of devices that are allowed to receive specific radio transmissions from specific satellites. This entry into the database then sends a signal to the device to decrypt satellite frequencies, providing the user with audible satellite radio reception. This explains the question of how does satellite radio work?

Many service providers may use different marketing gimmicks to gain a customer base, claiming to have better coverage or what not. When it comes down to it, The only difference which could be considered is the limitations put on the satellite radio by the databases and what programs and filters any individual service provider may be using to limit the access their customers have to the satellite radio feed. Service providers may offer special features, or special programming which is solely controlled by their databases and the servers they use to transmit the satellite radio feed. You rarely hear of a service provider explaining to the customer the answer to the question of how does satellite radio work?

If a user fails to pay for their subscription to the satellite radio feed, just as with any utility nowadays, the service provider may then send a signal to the device, removing its rights to decrypt satellite radio transmissions. Many technologies in the past, prior to the radio technology have used satellites to widen the spectrum of their services, such as telecommunications such as cell phones. The principal of each service is relatively the same in the fact that a person uses a device such as a satellite radio, or cell phone, to request a transmission through a service provider’s database. If the subscription is paid for the transmission is allowed from the satellite to the user giving us satellite capable radio devices. I hope I have helped answer the question how does satellite radio work?

Satellite Radio HQ talks about the history of satellite radio, the equipment you’ll need, the satellite radio channels you can receive and much more.

The 9 Step Networking Plan

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

First step – Plan Ahead.

The biggest investment you make into networking is your time. And most people don’t budget it adequately to maximize their results. They show up late and leave early. Reverse this – show up early and leave late – and give yourself enough time to connect with people before and after meetings officially start.

Here is a little secret I’m going to share with you that very few people do. Plan and block time to evaluate your results after the meeting.

Was that group a good match for you?
Look through the business cards you collected - did you have an opportunity to really connect with those people?
How will you follow up?

These are just a few questions you should be asking yourself after each meeting. This is just as important as showing up in the first place. Most people skip this step and end up frustrated and overwhelmed because they don’t take the time to “get organized.”

Step number two. Choose wisely where and who you network with.

Again and again people ask me, “There are so many different groups, what are the basic groups and where can I get the biggest bang for a buck?”

First, you have to know that there are no right and wrong groups in general –they are just right or wrong for you.

There are basically four main categories of groups out there:
Professional associations. Most every larger city will have local chapters of organizations that bring together professionals involved in the same trade. Attorneys, Consultants, Contractors, Manufacturers, and so on – all like to hang out together. With a bit of research you can easily find such groups near you.

Non-profit organizations. Personally, I think everyone should be involved in some organization that allows them to give back to community. And there are a lot of good causes to get involved in. This gives you good visibility, and access to other local leaders you might find hard to meet otherwise. Plus – it’s just a good habit to contribute time and money to help others.

While you shouldn’t count on getting business from these groups right away, when you do – it will be worth your while many times over – trust me.

Professional networking meetings. Like those organized by your local Chamber of Commerce or other, privately owned groups. While probably the most popular, these can often be a “total mixed bag”, and unless you have a solid plan to “penetrate” the group fast and position yourself as a highly visible COI (more on that later) you’ll be terribly disappointed with results you get from such groups.

Lead Exchange Groups. These typically allow only one person in each profession and meet regularly only for the sole purpose of exchanging leads with each other. While groups composed of well established professionals can be really effective in cross promoting each other’s businesses, in most lead-exchange groups there just two or three people that end up giving and getting most referrals – and everyone else just isn’t getting it.

Frankly, I think that unless you find a group with really savvy, well-established professionals in it – these groups are totally ineffective for the amount of time and money that you are asked to invest in them. (OK, I can just see the flood of emails on this one from people determined to prove otherwise!)

Finally, remember that depending on your business and who your clients are, your best place to network could be a golf-club membership and weekly round of golf. Or a monthly first class flight from one major city to another. And don’t overlook people who already have you as a client. Hey, I stumbled upon an entirely new niche, simply because my daughters needed braces!

Step number three is to prepare your ABC - and that stands for Audio Business Card™.

People judge you by their first impressions of you. And if what you say to them in the first few seconds isn’t clear, compelling and memorable – well, you’ll just slip into oblivion like dozens of others we run into every day and then quickly forget them.

I bet you took at least a few hours, if not a few days, to design your printed business card. But did you take at least 15 minutes to develop and practice your ABC?! I bet not!

Teaching you how to develop a good ABC is a subject for whole new lesson, but here is just the gist of what works and what doesn’t.

Don’t say:
Your title, like “I’m the president of Blah, Blah, and Blah, Inc” - boring!
Your label, like “I’m a consultant” – OK, good for you, now tell me “what do you do”?
Where you live and work – I’ve never met anyone who’s hired me because of my street address!
How long you’ve been in business – people really don’t care if I stepped off the boat yesterday, or if I’ve lived here my entire life. All they want to know is – if and how I can help them.

Do say:

Who your ideal clients are.
What are their biggest problems you solve for your clients.
How your clients are better off as a result of working with you.
How to best start benefiting from your services right away (more on that in a moment)

This is really a critical skill. If you don’t know how to create magnetic first impressions and don’t have an effective Audio Business Card – don’t bother leaving your office. Your getting any business from networking will be purely accidental, and your chances for landing a new client or referral are as good as those of being struck by a lightning – if you catch my drift.

Step number four is positioning. Simply put, most people in the networking environment are prospecting – looking for potential clients. Positioning is about reversing this process – allowing potential clients to FIND YOU. It’s a big difference when you have people coming to you versus you chasing them.

There is an entire process I teach my clients around this concept. And it starts long before you even show up for any meeting. It’s not hard to do. With a bit of cleverness, and some advanced planning, anyone can do it.

Step number five is about preparing bait. You must have Attraction Tools™ in place. Finding clients is a bit like going fishing. You may love strawberries, but you would never put a strawberry on a fishing hook and throw it in the water because fish don’t like strawberries. So you have to think about what kind of bait your audience likes and prepare that bait.

When I first got started I quickly build a database of over two thousand subscribers to my newsletter, simply by offering an attractive bait, and promoting it effectively by turning my printed business card into an advertising billboard.

Step number six is about meeting COI and becoming a COI – or a Center of Influence!

Every group has a number of core members – a higher echelon reserved for top movers and shakers. These few savvy entrepreneurs likely exchange more business amongst each other than the rest of the group combined.

Your job is to become part of this group as quickly as possible. Effective networking is not only about who you know, but even more importantly about who knows you. So becoming one of the big fish in a small pond is like hitting a lottery jackpot – new business will just keep coming in!

Step number seven is about delivering immediate value. One of the easiest ways to build relationships and deliver value is by being interested in other people. We all love to talk about ourselves. But when you network, if you are able to temporarily suspend your own need to blabber on about yourself – you’ll instantly be better off than 99% of other people in the room.

Next, keep in mind that people are naturally lazy communicators and lazy thinkers. They tend to say the same thing to everyone they meet. So even a slight variation from their typical pattern makes the moment of meeting you more memorable.

Actually it’s not that hard to say memorable things in an environment where most everyone else is trying to sell something. Dimply DON’T ASK FOR THE BUSINESS! Be curious, ask engaging, challenging questions. Or you can develop a Polish accent (OK, so this one may not work for you as well as it works for me – but it’s worth a try, right?)

Step number eight is about getting maximum visibility. Once you’ve invested your money and time into actually getting together with other people, you might as well get the biggest bang for your buck out of it, right?

Most people are simply invisible! Even if you meet them, they seem to work so hard on making any impression on you, that you likely forget them right as you turn around to “Hi” to the next person.

Getting visibility is easy – if you know how. Here are just a few simple tips:
- Volunteer to run the registration table.
- Appoint yourself an official greeter and meet everyone as they walk into the room.
- Stand up and share a great resource with everyone in the room
- Ask the speaker a question that will allow everyone else to see your expertise in certain subjects.

Step number nine is simple - Follow up. Follow up. Follow up…

In the last five years I can probably think of less than a dozen people who have actually followed up with me as they promised! Even fewer followed up with me more than once or twice. This is terrible. Some of those people I really wanted to do business with – but they frankly let me down by disappearing.

Aren’t you concerned about how much business you lose by “disappearing” on people after you’ve invested so much of your efforts into connecting with them in the first place?

I learned my ultimate lesson about following up when I was courting my wife. I might have thought I was prince charming, but it took me two years, and multiple “irresistible offers” before she thought that too and bought into the deal. I’ve been now married for fourteen years and have two gorgeous daughters. It would’ve never happened if I didn’t follow-up, and follow-up, and follow-up – for two long years!

Bottom line, you must have a system in place that will allow you to effortlessly and automatically keep in touch with potential clients – “till they buy or die!”

Debt Consolidation Tips— Avail the Loan in a Wise Manner

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Fast expanding economy and facilities like credit cards or other means allows the modern day buyers the liberty to purchase almost every thing they set their eyes on. As a net result, the debt mounts on and to pay that more money is borrowed and more debt accumulates. This vicious circle can be broken only when one decides to follow debt consolidation tips well. We offer you some vital suggestions here.

First of all do some calculations regarding your debt. See how much of total debts can you pay right away to lessen the burden.
Debt Consolidation tips are required because you have accumulated many high interest rate debts. So find out your high interest rate debts to separate them from the debts you can eliminate on your own. This approach helps you in arriving at the exact amount you are going to borrow and this saves you from borrowing larger than required money.

Then approach your lenders and tell them that you are in a financial mess and see if they can help. Or, consult some credit counseling agency that will negotiate with your lenders on your behalf. This way your loan payments may be made easier for you.

You will need to put collateral with the lender at the time you ask him for the money. Collateral is vital in deciding in how much an amount you can borrow and at what interest rate. An amount anywhere from £ 3000 to £ 75,000 is what lenders normally offer under secured debt consolidation. Make effort to put a high value collateral. You may not be asking for a big amount but you must aim at having a lower interest rate. High value collateral goes a long way in bargaining for the desired low interest rate. The equity in your home, put as collateral, gives you an interest rate lower than credit cards and such equity loans are tax deductible also.

Take special care of the loan term and avail the loan for shortest possible repayment duration. You will not like to go on paying those repayment installments for say forty years. However, if you want to pay the debt consolidation loan in a shorter duration then you must keep the borrowed amount as low as possible and to the level that pays off the debts.

In case you opt for taking unsecured debt consolidation loan then the amount and interest rate you get will depend on your credit score and financial capacity.

A better credit score always helps in lower interest rate in secured debt consolidation as well. So, an important debt consolidation tip is that you get your credit report done from a reputed agency.

Following these basic debt consolidation tips carefully you can get rid of all that huge burden of high interest rate debts. Concentrate on how you can get a lower interest rate because that is why you opt for the consolidation.

How To Enjoy Family Celebrations

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

My birthday is November 28th. This date has influenced my view of family celebrations. As you may realize, November 28th occurs in close proximity to Thanksgiving, and at the apex of the pre-holiday shopping season of Chanukah and Christmas. My birthday was greatly affected by this temporal location.

First of all, my parents tended to minimize my birthdays. Like most Holocaust refugees, their concern was to rebuild their lives, not engage in superfluous revelry. By today’s standards even important events, such as my Bat Mitzvah, were minimized.

In addition, there was one more complicating factor: My parents owned and operated a retail toy store. Therefore, during the hectic holiday season my parents were not home preparing a party for my birthday. Instead, they were busy selling toys. Indeed, throughout my childhood, my parents worked very hard to make ends meet. They endured long hours and experienced many stressful days in the store. Birthday merriment was a luxury for which they had neither time nor energy.

In place of a birthday party, my parents substituted the festivities of Chanukah. The extent of our celebration, however, depended on the sun and the moon or, more precisely, the solar and lunar months for that calendar year. If Chanukah fell out that year after the shopping season was over then we had a wonderfully relaxing holiday. If, on the other hand, Chanukah came before December 25th, we had a quick candle-lighting ceremony and then rushed back to the store. The store became my nemesis for an annual two-month period. I thus had my own unique reason to experience the “winter blues.”

A child’s birthday is an occasion, like the Hallmark-invented times of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, that can compensate for lack of expressed emotion on other days of the year. Since we did not celebrate a day that was my annual milestone, my family missed an opportunity to express closeness and appreciation. Moreover, because I did not have the yearly celebration that my peers enjoyed, I gained a determination that has stayed with me throughout my life: I would highlight every one of my family’s important days regardless of their significance to the outside world.

Similarly, many people utilize Chanukah or Christmas to strengthen family bonds, and assemble together with extended family for at least one party. The purpose of the gathering is the celebration itself, both for its spiritual meaning and its importance to the family. As the generations sit around the table, enjoying the delicious food, they can revel in their unity as a family regardless of what happens the rest of the year.

On the other hand, when getting together with extended family, it is easy to allow past hurts or feelings of neglect to interfere with one’s present enjoyment. Therefore, I’ve created a list of rules that will help make your holiday celebration a truly joyous one.

Rules of Engagement

Rule #1 for all family meetings is to “leave the past in the past.” As we grow older, and the black and white outlook of childhood becomes blurred to shades of grey, we are potentially more capable of tolerating behaviors that we previously found to be unbearable. Time and distance are invaluable healers. Moreover, we begin to recognize that our mortality looms closer every year. That recognition will often impel us to be happy with whatever time we have left together with our families. Instead of focusing on what the others didn’t or can’t give to us, we can learn to give to ourselves and to share the resultant happiness with them.

Rule #2 follows from #1. Do not carry a “hidden agenda.” Family events are the worst occasions to resolve unfinished business with your relatives. First of all, they are public gatherings. Discussions of an emotional nature should take place only in private. Secondly, before you say anything, examine your own attitude toward your relatives. Are you still holding onto the notion of the ideal or perfect family? It’s time to relinquish that desire and allow yourself to love your relatives, regardless of who they are or how they live their lives.

Rule #3. Try to prevent yourself from slipping into old patterns of behavior. This time, when your brother teases you, laugh along with him. Endeavor to respond in new ways to old triggers. Stay alert for opportunities to express a side of yourself that your relatives haven’t seen. Do not do so, however, in order to seek their approval but rather because you are being completely true to yourself.

Rule #4. Look for the positive and communicate the positive. Although it may be difficult at first, concentrate on whatever’s going right and ignore or play down the problems. For example, make an effort to give compliments to as many people as you can, especially the host and hostess.

Tangentially, if you have young children, strive to keep them busy and well-fed. That accomplishment alone would be immensely helpful to your extended family. Above all, don’t get involved in someone else’s crisis. Remember, your nieces and nephews are not your children and you do not need to discipline them. If the stress becomes overwhelming, take a break from the tumult and find refuge in another room.

Rule #5: Interpret criticism as advice from a person who cares about you. Successful people learn from everyone around them and construe another person’s remark as a helpful observation about their behavior. They try to view negative feedback as an opportunity to learn something about themselves. Furthermore, when they hear comments such as “Your tie (blouse) doesn’t match your shirt (skirt)” or questions like “Have you gained weight since I last saw you?” confident people will respond without acrimony. They will not allow their good day to be ruined by another person’s hurtful remark. Alternatively, they assume that the speaker has good intentions but bad judgment, or that they themselves might have misinterpreted the statement. It is sometimes good to be hard of hearing.

Rule #6: Last but not least, prepare. We all realize the importance of preparing the food, but it is equally important to prepare one’s emotions. Therefore, visualize the scene of your family get-together, examine your feelings and prepare your thoughts and your actions. It would be helpful to discuss your strategy with an objective person who is not a member of your family. Friends, clergymen, coaches and therapists are all potential sources of support. They can bring clarity to a situation that is often clouded by your own history and subjective opinion.

By following the above suggestions you will be able to turn your holiday celebrations into opportunities for growth and renewal of family ties. In doing so, you will reap the benefits of family support in future years and create a wellspring of memories for your children.

Online Slot Machines - Learn How The RNG Works and Avoid Common Playing Errors!

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Many players make playing mistakes based upon a lack of
understanding of how the RNG works.

If you read this article you won’t make these mistakes and
increase your chances of winning the big payouts.

The Random Number Generator

All Slot machines contain a (RNG) which is a microchip that
constantly (even while the machine is not being played)
constantly generates combinations of numbers at a rate of around
a hundred every second.

These random numbers correspond to positions on each of the
reels in the machine. When you play, you aren’t really doing
anything other than spinning the reels for visual effect.

A player is simply seeing reel positions that correspond to the
last set of random numbers in the sequence at the time of the
spin.

So what are the common errors that players make?

Here are the most common ones and the influence the RNG has:

1. Using a Slot Machine System

Many players believe they can predict the next spin by using
mathematical systems to put the odds in their favor.

The RNG however makes slots a game of chance and there is no way
of predicting in advance when the next jackpot is due.

Winning comes down to the precise moment that you play and this
dictates which set of random numbers your play generates.

While the RNG is not purely random it is impossible to tell the
sequence and even if it were at 100 calculations a second the
chances of you being able to hit the pay at the exact time of a
winning spin are remote to say the least.

Never use a slot machine system!

2. Looking at the reels and calculating odds

The number corresponds to the symbols on the Reel. There can be
hundreds of Virtual stops on each reel even though you see far
fewer symbols.

Let’s assume a player sees 15 reels and then calculates the odds
as follows:

15 x 15 x 15 1:3,375. This however is only part of the odds what
the player does not see are the virtual stops, and this could be
a 100 or more per reel!

At 100 per reel, it would be 100 x 100 x 100, or odds of
1:1,000,000. Generally the bigger the payback of a machine the
larger the number of virtual stops.

If the jackpot is big the odds of winning it are small as the
jackpot obviously has to be financed from somewhere!

3. A Machine has not paid for a while and is due a payback

A machine is never due to payout at a certain time as the
payback percentage and payout frequency are calculated longer
term.

The RNG is a longer term calculation and there is no reason why
it cant go a long time without paying out, or do two or three
payouts in quick succession.

4. Playing Fast increase chances of success

There is no advantage to playing the machine faster!

The RNG will generate hundreds of numbers between the spins of
even the fastest player and there are no players who can play a
hundred spins a second, so take your time.

The RNG

The RNG is a marvel of modern technology and makes any slot
machine a game of chance.

The above common playing errors are based around the idea that
slots can be predicted and of course this is not true.

Increasing your chances of winning at slots

While slots are a game of chance, there are some sensible ways
of playing them to increase the odds of success.
