Facts About Satellite TV from Direct TV and Dish Network

Filed under: Product Tips + More — admin @ 2:59 pm

What Is Satellite TV?

Satellite TV is a wireless system for delivering television programming directly to a viewer’s house or business. A small dish, about 18 to 24 inches in diameter, is installed outside your house or business. Television and satellite stations transmit programming via a radio signal. Two providers of satellite tv are Direct TV and Dish Network.

How Does Satellite TV Work?

Broadcast stations use a powerful antenna to transmit radio waves to the surrounding area. Viewers can receive the signal with a smaller antenna. The radio signals used to broadcast television emit signals from the broadcast antenna in a straight line. To receive these signals, the satellite dish has to be in the direct line of sight of the antenna. Obstacles like trees or buildings are not a problem, but a big obstacle, such as the Earth, will reflect radio waves.

What Are The Types of Satellite TV Distribution?

There are two primary types of satellite television distribution: Direct Broadcast Satellite (DBS) and Television Receive-Only (TVRO)

Direct broadcast satellite (DBS) also known as “direct to home,” is a relatively recent development in the world of television distribution. Direct broadcast satellite can either refer to the communications satellites themselves that deliver DBS service or the actual television service. DBS systems are commonly referred to as “minidish” systems. DBS uses the upper portion of the KU-band.

DBS systems rely upon proprietary reception equipment, most often in the form of a television set-top signal descrambling box. This measure assures satellite television providers that only authorized, paying subscribers have access to the content.

The first commercial DBS service, Sky Television, was launched in 1989 and served customers in the United Kingdom. Hughes’ Direct TV, the first high-powered DBS system, went online in 1994 and was the first North American DBS service. In 1996, Echostar’s Dish Network went online in the United States and has gone on to similar success as Direct TV’s primary competitor. Commercial DBS services are the primary competition to cable television service.

Television receive-only, or TVRO, refers to satellite television reception equipment that is based primarily on open standards equipment. This contrasts sharply with direct broadcast satellite, which is a completely closed system that uses proprietary reception equipment. TVRO is often referred to as “big dish” satellite television.

TVRO systems are designed to receive analog satellite signals from both C-band and KU-band satellite television or audio signals. TVRO systems tend to use larger rather than smaller satellite dish antennas, since it is more likely that the owner of a TVRO system would have a C-band-only setup rather than a KU-band-only setup. Additional receiver boxes allow for different types of digital satellite signal reception, such as DVB/MPEG-2 and 4DTV.

What Is The Advantage of Satellite TV?

The advantage of satellite TV over cable TV is that it offers you even more choices…up to 300 channels! With satellite TV, you can pick which company you want to subscribe with and what package of channels to buy. This is different from cable television, where you are forced to purchase whatever system your region offers and pay whatever price it offers. Handbags Get a Bling Makeover From Ms. BB

Filed under: Fashion — admin @ 2:38 pm

Daahling, your handbag is like your best friend ~ it will never tell where the two of you have been! Bling, much like your best friend, will make all of your handbags special and brighten up your life at the same time.

Daytime handbags might be the ones you are most reluctant to display with bling, depending on where you work. Remember that times are changing and many business workplaces allow you to freely express your individual fashion taste. Even if you work in a suited environment, you can subtly add a bling garnish to the most sophisticated bag or briefcase. A vintage cameo broach applied somewhere on the strap or bottom corner adds an air of elegance and class. A small earring gem dangling from the zipper is always acceptable and nice eye candy to cheer you up while you work. Additionally, you can creatively sparkle with bling on the inside of your bag while keeping the outside appropriate for your business day. A jeweled wallet, make-up case, or pill box will dazzle your spirits each time you open your bag, and remind you that evening fun will soon begin.

Handbag totes are a stylish way to carry essential extras that tend to bulge your standard bag. They can be casual, business, or fun, and you can find them in a wide variety of patterns and materials from straw to leather. Totes with a smooth surface can be decorated with adhesive backed crystals and hearts by simply peeling off the back and sticking them on the bag. Try cutting a sheet of rhinestones into your initial, or if you are the artistic type, you will have lots of fun designing an original work of bling art! For surfaces that are not smooth, jeweled clip-on earrings can be simply clipped onto the straps, and brightly colored pierced earrings can be attached to the zipper pull and left dangling.

Evening Bags are great fun to shop for and will accentuate your outfit with a wide variety of styles. A small clutch is always chic if you do not need to carry much. These can be found in smooth leather, reptile skin, canvas, or even transparent plastic. A light weight chain handle that tucks inside makes it easy to convert to a shoulder bag, leaving both hands free to handle all important things that comes your way ~ like wine or hugs! If you need to carry a bit more than lipstick, look for a bag with several compartments that will allow you to tuck in your cell phone and other essentials you simply cannot leave home without.

Evening bags can be found with just a touch of bling or totally covered in glitter, beads, jewels, or embroidered flowers and initials ~ or with all of the above! If the bag you love does not already come adorned for evening, simply add your own bling! Jeweled pins and earrings make it simple and quick to dress any bag for evening to coordinate with your latest outfit. Take good care of your handbags and they will last a lifetime, Daahling ~ just like your best friend!

Mobile phones with Ultra high speed Internet connection promises a lot, are we there yet?

Imagine flipping open your mobile phone and being able to check the balance on your bank account, finding the latest scores of your favorite sports team, if you’re on a diet find out what your daily calorie intake is, find out that your tofu lasagna is only a 600 calorie lunch, download the hippest ringtone, find out which space station is about to fly over your home city, and finally find a great restaurant that you and a friend can dine at.

The chief executive of eBay, Meg Whitman says, “Window into the possibilities of what might happen when high-speed broadband services are widely adopted in other places too”. More and more cellular customers will want to be listening to streaming music on their cellular phone. An innovative company called Amp’D mobile wireless has leased bundles of services from Verizon wireless. In no time soon, the 18-year-old to 35 year old market will be able to bundle what media they would want on their cellular phones before it’s shipped to their home. They will be able to select version of their favorite sitcom, a new ring tone, games they would like play on their Amp’d mobile phone.

A country where three quarters of the population owns cellular phones is Korea. Back in the 60s, there was one television for every 300 people in that country. Look how far technology has influenced Koreans. In fact, if you are a Korean couple looking for an apartment, a sign will display on the bottom of the for rent sign showing the Internet connection speed for that particular apartment block. This is very important for many young Korean couples and can be a deciding factor whether or not they rent that particular apartment.

New cellular technology is so close, but when you get there expect to pay

The Ministry of information and communication or MIC in Korea says that people will be able a surf the Internet while they’re traveling in their vehicle at 60 kph. This service is called WiBro. MIC has leased the following three Korean telecom companies: SK telecom,KT and Hanaro to be able to offer high-speed wireless Internet access. You’re probably asking what does this have to do with North Americans? There will come a time where your cellular phone will be able to read the radiofrequency identification tags, the bar code that you see on every single item in a grocery store. Imagine having a MIC cellular phone that will be able to read the expiry date of: milk, cheese, yogurt, fresh meats, baked goods, and seafood at your local grocery store. Imagine your MIC cellular phone being able to pick up a signal from an advertisement which would ask you to download a preview of a brand new movie. You never thought that your cellular phone could do so many things did you? The predicted success of this wireless Internet service is overwhelming. WiBro is estimating that there will be over 9 million new subscribers between now and 2011.

The promise of watching DVD videos on your Windows Smart phone

Already many Japanese commuters are watching video on their mobiles while commuting long distances from their homes to their work on the subway. Well if you own a Windows Smart phone, you can convert a new DVD movie on your computer to watch it on your Windows mobile device. No matter how old you are, folks of every generation enjoy movies of all kinds. I don’t know about you, but I am a Film Festival junkie. When the Vancouver film festival come in to town, I purchase the Visa Gold Express ticket allowing me to sneak into a movie 5 minutes before the curtains roll. There are 5-10 seats reserved in every theater for Visa Gold express pass holders. The most popular and well received film Festival movies are later turned to DVDs and that is what I look forward to watching. A very popular software called Pocket DVD studio 3.5 allows you to convert any DVD movie you watch at home to the following formats:wmv,avi,mpg,mpeg,pm,rmvb,tivo2go. What’s nice is that you won’t have to spend an entire afternoon converting only one movie. Diane Dumas, an editor at Pocket PC took five hours to convert a DVD movie to Windows media video format. However, using the pocket DVD studio 3.5, she was able to convert her DVD movie in less than one hour.

What happens after you convert it ?

1. Save the DVD you converted either on a storage card or your desktop hard drive

2. Synchronize the converted DVD to your Windows mobile device using ActiveSync

3. Now sit back at your favorite WiFi hotspot, lazyboy chair or park and watch your DVD movie on your smart phone

Another exciting development that’s happening in Spain right now is a service called Sim pay. What is Sim pay?

This service already exist in Spain and has the ability to use your cellular phone to make mobile payments easier. The goal of Sim pay which is also a nonprofit organization is to have the entire network of European cellular users, all 70 million of them be able to select on their cellular phone, “buying with Sim pay”. An equivalent Sim Pay service can be adapted to United States. Pay pal now has more than 60 million account holders in the world. Perhaps pay pal will look at this model and take note.

What is the real-life application of Sim pay?
If you travel frequently to Seoul, the capital of Korea, you may stumble upon a experimental café where you can order an Asian version of cappuccino and be able to pay for it with your cell phone. In fact you may not even have to interact with a human being, you simply order your to cappuccinos on your cellular phone screen and t hen pay electronically and receive your receipt of electronically as well. But how does the cappuccino taste prepared by a Korean robot?

Are You Holding Your Mouth Right To Catch More Fish?

Filed under: Angling — admin @ 1:52 pm

My young stepson and I was fishing at Rush Creek in Ohio and using the same rod and reel, line and lure. Everything was exactly the same, the problem was I had caught about a dozen bass and he hadn’t caught any and we were only standing about 10 feet apart.

He finally asked me why I was catching all the fish and he wasn’t. I said “Well John, you’re not holding your mouth right”. He said “How A I suppose to Hold it?”. I said “like this”. I made some strange face and had my lip stuck out and my face all messed up. So, I looked over and seen him trying to mimic the face I made and just fishing away. I never thought any more about it.

About 2 months later, he went up to the mountains of California and was fishing for trout at his grandparent’s cabin. He was standing by the stream and his grandfather came along to check on him. His grandfather kept watching and talking to him and finally said “John is there something wrong with your face? Are you sick?”. So John explained I had told him to make his face like that to catch more fish. His grandfather tried not to laugh and went on his way to tell John’s grandmother who told my wife and it got back to me.

Charles E. White has fished for almost 50 years for bass from California to Florida. In his lifetime, it is estimated that he has caught over 6,000 bass. His biggest bass is a 12 pound 14 ounce that hangs on his wall in his office.

Charles has fished with people who have never fished for bass before and taught them how to become successful anglers and also has fished with the Pros in Florida. His new website about fishing for bass is at:

Object Of Baccarat: Game Rules And Strategies

Filed under: Online Gambling — admin @ 1:41 pm

The object of baccarat is to hold a hand with a point value closest to 9. Aces count as one; 2 through 9 as their face value; tens and face cards count as zero. If the value of the hand is ten points or more, subtract ten, and the remainder is the baccarat point value of the hand. For example: 7+4=14, subtract 10 for a point value of 4 for that hand. The game pits two hands against each other; the ‘player’ and the ‘banker’. Don’t be fooled; betting on the ‘player’ doesn’t mean you actually are the player. The ‘player’ is just the opposing hand to the ‘banker’.

You place your wager on the banker’s hand and/or on the player’s hand and/or on a tie. The player and the banker are then each dealt a two-card hand. Then, depending on those two cards, the player and/or banker may draw a third card. If either the player and/or the banker has a total of 8 or 9, they both stand and the game is over. If not, the rules on what hands get an additional card are already pre-determined, so all you have to do is sit back and watch (or pray, depending on how big your bet is).

The ‘player’s’ hand is the first to act. Here are the rules for the ‘player’.

• If dealt a hand with a point value of 6 or higher, the player stands (for instance a deuce and a four, or a three and a six, a queen and a seven, etc)

• If dealt a hand with a point value of 5 or lower the player takes one additional card.

The rules for the banker are a little more complicated. If you never really commit them to memory don’t worry- 90% of your fellow baccarat player’s are in the same boat. Here are the rules for the ‘banker’.

• If the player stands, the banker hits on a total of five or less.

• If the banker has a total of eight or nine he stands no matter what.

The player closest to 9 at the end, wins.
If you bet on the player and the player wins, you are paid 2 to 1 winnings on your bet.
If you bet on the banker and the banker wins, you are paid 2 to 1 minus 5% bank commission.
If both the player’s hand and the banker’s hand have equal totals, the game result is a ‘tie’. If you have placed a bet on the ‘tie’ field, your payoff is 9 to 1.

Topic Selection a Key to Profitable Blogging

Filed under: Blogging Stuff — admin @ 1:30 pm

Blogs may have originated as a means of online journal writing and community building, but the use of this model won’t accomplish much for the online entrepreneur. Unless your cats are far cuter than every other bloggers’ or unless you are an amazingly interesting person with some tremendous writing talents, your personal blog will get lost in the chorus of voices that crowd the world of blogs. In order to making blogging profitable, one must select a good topic upon which to focus.

Topic selection is at the very root of blogging success. The idea is to choose a topic area in which you can be competitive. Optimally, you can find a blogging niche that is underserved yet has a high level of interest. This will allow you to attract a great deal of visitors more easily which, of course, translates into higher profit levels.

There are a few factors to consider when choosing the subject area for a “money blog.” First, one may want to attempt to find a subject area in which they have a personal interest, especially if they plan on writing their own content. This is because successful blogs require regular updates and it can become difficult to regularly produce quality information if one has no real interest in a topic. If someone opts to hire a writer to produce their blog posts, however, this is a far less important factor.

Second, one should strive to find a topic area in which interest is at least relatively high. You may be able to rule the search engines on the topic of “17th century wooden paperweights,” but there are so few, if any, people with an interest in the subject. Thus, that number one ranking in Google will not produce the kind of traffic stream you will need to turn a healthy profit. It may be more difficult to enter a more competitive marketplace, but the potential rewards are far greater, too. The key to this element of topic selection, however, is not just writing a blog on a hot topic. It is finding a field from which a healthy number of visitors can be culled.

Third, one will want to find a market that is underserved. Basically, you are looking for a strong disparity in the number of interested parties and the amount of readily available information. If you can find a topic in which many people are interested but that is not well-covered online, you will be sitting upon a potential blogging gold mine. It is perfectly acceptable to build a wonderful blog and to expend the effort to compete in a more crowded area, but this does require much more work. Finding an underserved niche and filling a hole in the marketplace is a much easier way to produce blogging revenue.

Choosing a topic for your moneymaking blog can be a challenging process. This first step, however, is probably one of the most important. The choice of a topic not only establishes the nature of the blog, it also (in large measure) determines its potential for success.

Four Important Nutrients - Vitamin E, Selenium, Sodium and Potassium - For Good Health

Filed under: Online Nutrition Resources — admin @ 1:25 pm

Vitamin E

There has been a lot of controversy about vitamin E lately. In the news last month, the news media was pushing a story that “Vitamin E can cause you to die.” This story came about from a study that was made by certain researchers. In the alternative medicine group, they determined that this study was flawed. Most of the people in the study were already sick with serious illnesses.

Taking a dose of Vitamin E of 400 to 800 IU is appropriate. Higher doses can be taken for particular diseases - intestine disease, liver disease, pancreas disease, and surgical removal of stomach, but - for the average person this dose is enough.

The type of Vitamin E you should take is:
d-alpha tocopherol - this is the nature Vitamin E.

When buying Vitamin E get the Vitamin that contains the family of Natural Vitamin E for better health such as,
d-alpha tocopherol succinate, gamma, delta and beta.

Avoid using the synthetic Vitamin E. The synthetic is called,
dl-alpha tocopherol.

The synthetic type is not good for you and can possible cause some harm.

Vitamin E is found in various foods including vegetable oils (corn, cottonseed, soybean, safflower - it isn’t recommended that you use these oils.) Wheat germ, whole-grain cereals, and green leafy vegetables are good sources of Vitamin E. Cooking and storage may destroy some of the vitamin E in foods.

Selenium

Here’s another important nutrient - Selenium. Researchers at the University of Arizona have done clinical trials that show those who had more selenium in their blood had lower incidence of colorectal tumors. Selenium has also been found to be effective in keeping the prostrate health.

Selenium is one of the best antioxidants and should be included in your daily supplements.
The recommended daily dose for,
Women is 50-55 mcg
Men is 65-70 mcg.

Sodium and Potassium

I have mentioned in the past, that if you want to avoid being sick now or in the future, you need to work towards an Alkaline Body. This is such important concept that I want to tell you again. Eating fruits and vegetables is critical in keeping your body alkaline.

And, if you drink water it does not make sense to drink plain water. If you’re going to drink water why not drink alkaline water, and give yourself two important minerals that make your body alkaline - ionic sodium and ionic potassium. If you use a product call ALKALIFE, you can add these minerals into your water.

These minerals help to neutralize acid in your body. In doing so, it moves your body towards alkalinity. An acid body is destructive to body tissue, and to organ function. It attracts parasites, bacteria, fungus, and all sorts of pathogen to live and multiply inside you.

By adding 2 drops of Alkalife into water, you change the water from a neutral pH of 7.0 to an alkaline drink of 8.0. This is the best gift you can give yourself
