Cardio Exercises-Low Or High Intensity Exercise Burn Body Fat Faster?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Have you ever wondered which cardio exercises are best for burning off extra body fat? Is walking (low intensity) better or running (high intensity) better for burning body fat?

Well, both low and high intensity exercises will help you burn off body fat. The question is which is more effective and burn more body fat. What is your fat burning zone?

When scientists first reported that during intensive exercises, your body burn glycogen, which is a form of stored carbohydrates stored in your liver and muscles for energy and during low intensive exercises, your body burn body fat, everyone suddenly change their workout routines to perform low intensity exercises to burn body fat.

Does it work? Obviously it does not work because there are still so many fat people around although they are working out with low intensity exericies isn’t it? Why is that so?

Well, the scientists were right when they said that our bodies burn more body fat during low intensity exercises like walking or a leisurely swim. But during a high intensity exercise like running, our bodies burn a lot more calories. Even if some of the calories burnt are from glycogen, we will still burn many fat calories as well.

To add icing to the cake, when your store of glycogen is low, the carbs from your meal you eat later gets converted into glycogen to fill up the store and will not be converted to body fat when left unused for energy.

Furthermore, high intensity cardio exercises crank up your metabolism even after your workout is done. This means that you body will continue to burn body fat hours after you have left the gym. This effect is almost non existent in low intensity cardio or aerobic workout. Accumulatively, your body burns up many many more calories during and after high intensity cardio exercises than lower intensive ones.

You can inject high intensity exercises to your cardio workout by introducing some interval training. You can walk briskly for 5 minutes, then breaking into a jog for another 5 minutes. Then walking briskly again until you caught your breath and then sprint for a minute before walking again for another minute. From this point, alternate between a sprint and a walk, a minute each and do this for the next 15 minutes and you are done.

Do this for 5 days a week and before long, you will be steadily losing unwanted body fat and weight healthily and naturally.

Hosting a Dinner Party? Hire a Personal Chef!

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Think only the rich and famous have the privilege of having a
personal chef wait on their every craving or gourmet pleasure?
Think again.

Personal chefs are now helping couples and families to present
fabulous home cooked dinners to their guests. And it’s not as
expensive as you think!

Why hire a personal chef?

A personal chef will bring the food, create a nutritious and
balanced meal, figure out the servings needed (so you don’t need
to deal with leftovers) and most of all give you the freedom to
focus on other aspects of entertaining while still providing the
best food for your guests.

Are you hosting a business lunch? An intimate wedding reception?
Or even an intimate dinner for two that just HAS to be the best?
A personal chef can handle any order. You can usually choose
from a selection of courses they provide or arrange for a
customized menu.

How much does it cost?

Prices will vary but you can expect a weeks worth of meals
(containers, food and cooking included) to be about $350 for a
family of 4 (20 meals of entrees and side dishes) or $175 for a
couple (10 meals of entrees and side dishes).

Some services will prepare all the meals at once while others
will deliver or prepare the meal in your home throughout the
week.

How do I find a personal chef?

Finding a chef is easy by using the USPCA (United States
Personal Chef Association - www.uspca.com) or the CPCA (Canadian
Personal Chef Alliance - www.cpcalliance.com). Here you will
find information on personal chefs as well as a directory of
members in your area.

Will they do meals just for my family?

Personal chefs are more than just a catering service. For busy
professionals who are looking for quality meals and more time
with their family, a personal chef will prepare several entrees
and side dishes, store them and clean the kitchen. For the rest
of the week all you have to do is take them out of the fridge or
freezer and reheat to enjoy gourmet meals all week. For families
who turn to fast foods and restaurants the cost may actually be
less than what they are currently paying.

Some personal chefs also can be booked for private or group
cooking lessons. Invite a group of your friends to learn the art
of creating delectable pasties or sumptuous seafood from an
expert!

While not everyone needs the daily services of a personal chef
you may wish to treat yourself to the luxury of a fabulous
dinner at home - no cooking, cleaning or experience necessary!

Coffee Tables, End Tables, and Sofa Tables

Friday, October 12th, 2007

No living room or dining room is complete without a nice set of
tables >. The type of tables you choose greatly depends on the theme of
the rooms. There are many wonderful materials to choose from.
There are also options for every price range.

Styles can range from very simple straight lined architecture to
much more ornate and decorative. Simple styles are great for a
contemporary living space that minimizes decorative objects and
focuses on functionality of design. These types of tables can be
stacked and look great that way, or can be stack and spread
around when ready for use. Ornate decorative tables are for a
more traditional type of setting. Rooms that use floral fabrics,
and other decorative furniture, the traditional coffee and
dining tables are more appropriate.

Recycled or pressed wood materials are used to achieve the same
look as real wood. Using these types of materials makes the
tables more light weight and easier to move around. Other
materials used include real hardwood like maple or cherry that
will be much heavier. Using these materials makes the tables
much more durable, but may require additional maintenance to
preserve the beauty of the wood. With recycled non-wood
materials, all you need is a mild cleanser.

If on a budget, it is still possible to get quality tables that
are still pleasing to the eye. Logically, tables made from
non-wood materials are much less expensive than those made of
hardwood material. If money is not really an issue and the buyer
is selective, there is a huge range of options that will enhance
the living space.

Whether you choose to go high end, or choose something more
practical for short term use, the tables > will add dimension and functionality to your living space.
Coffee tables will always come in handy for guests, they can be
decorated with furniture accessories, or they can be practical,
using them for reading material, or when entertaining as a
setting to place food. Gathering around a coffee or sofa table
is an intimate experience that you cannot achieve around an
ottoman.

Correcting Your Debt Problem

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Dealing with ones finances is never easy, especially when you have a debt problem. A debt problem is created when you end up spending more money than you spend on a consistent basis. It is certainly possible that one might be forced to operate on a negative cash flow for a short period of time, but if you are unable to turn it around by increasing your income and/or cutting your expenses then having a debt problem is inevitable. Some simple steps can be followed that will help you get your finances back on track and out of the red.

1. Spend Less Than You Make

Financially savvy individuals do not spend everything they make. At the top of their financial priorities is savings. These people are wealthy for a reason. They didn’t spend every last dime they made. Don’t overlook this principle.

2. Make a Budget

The first step to eliminating your debt problem involves creating a budget. A budget is a lot like a diet – neither does you any good if they are not followed. When creating your budget you should map out your monthly cash flow. The cash flows will include both your expected sources and uses of money, also known as your income and expenses. If you do not have a good understanding of where your money is coming from and where it is going you will never be able get on top of your debt problem. Thus it is also important to implement a budget as a tracking mechanism. You should record and track your expenses each month.

Towards the end of each month you should analyze your financial situation. Did you spend more then you made? Where were your biggest expenses? Can these expenses be curbed? As you are analyzing your budget, you have to look for the fat that can be cut away. For instance, if you find you spent a lot of money eating out then you can easily curtail that habit and eat in more. That will save you money and help your bottom line. Your budget should be repeatedly reviewed and fine tuned in this manner each month. Slowly but surely you will notice your monthly expenses decreasing below your monthly income level, creating some extra income.

3. Form a Debt Repayment Schedule

e you have created extra income, you can begin to address your debt problem. Typically you will want to apply your excess money to the highest cost debt first. Say you have debt on 3 credit cards with rates of 20%, 18%, and 12%. To begin with you will want to pay the minimum monthly amount on each card, and apply all the extra income you have each month to the highest rate card (20%). Once you have paid this card off, you will then take the monthly minimum amount you were paying on the 20% interest rate credit card plus the monthly surplus of money and apply it to the next highest interest rate card (18%). Continue on till this card is paid off, and then do the same with the last card.

Make Saving a Habit

When you have paid of your debt problem the next step is to begin saving your extra income. At this point it would be wise to begin taking the amount of money you were applying to your credit card payment and put it into savings. You can continue to live the lifestyle you have grown accustomed to as you create a nice little nest egg for yourself. The key to saving your extra income is being disciplined, and making saving both a priority and a habit.

As you probably know financial stability is priceless. If you want to avoid a debt problem then you must remain in control of your spending habits, ensure that you are saving money each month, and continue to work hard. Overcoming a debt problem isn’t always easy, but it can be done with hard work and discipline.

Transcendence Release Nothing Is Cohesive

New York, NY–May 2, 2005–The ever-experimental rock stalwarts
Transcendence have turned the tables again and released a
stunning new album entitled Nothing Is Cohesive. Coming off of
last year’s harder-edged modern rock manifesto Sleep With You,
which yielded the hit singles Superhero Girl and Minnie Driver,
Nothing Is Cohesive is the band’s third release and may be their
best to date. Lead singer Ed Hale and company continue to draw
influences from the classic rock and pop sounds of the 60s
through 90s while employing modern day studio techniques and
production to give their music a sparkle and alternative flair
most indie bands strive for, but rarely attain.

Nothing Is Cohesive features the austere and poignant lyrics the
band has built their reputation on…literate, thought provoking
and oozing passion- no matter the subject, they drive the
feeling home on every track. The colorful artwork on the CD
cover pictures swirling red images, giving the introspective
listener something to think about before spinning the CD. Once
you hear tracks like “Somebody Kill the DJ” and “Bored,” you
begin to realize how the title and image on the cover portray
the concept of the album. In a world gone mad there is madness,
but there is hope.

The band is excited about the positive press the CD has received
upon its pre-release, especially coming off the controversially
received Sleep With You CD. Critics have been quick to draw
comparisons to notable acts like U2, Radiohead, or the Beatles,
but the band, currently holed up at Miami’s Hit Factory Studio,
seems intent on focusing its collective energies on recording
their follow up due out later this year. Recorded in a garage
studio this time out, but sounding very little like a garage
band, the music on Nothing Is Cohesive sounds surprisingly
clean, smooth, and analogue, the general feel and sound seems to
celebrate the band’s love of and joy for making music more than
anything else.

In unpredictable surroundings, we can find relief and truth in
the music of bands like Transcendence. Sometimes the truth
hurts-but when you hear it come from Hale’s passionate vocals,
backed by the infinitely creative guitar work of Fernando
Perdomo, the thematic piano and keyboard textures by impresario
Jon Rose, and the inventive rhythm section made up of Bill
Sommer and Roger Houdaille-it feels so good. Transcendence is a
band of unsung heroes in a world of fabrication and pop culture
that you need to hear today.

“The mind boggling mix summed up by the title cut of their new
opus, Nothing is cohesive, is a stunning collision of anthems
that cull from Pink Floyd and Supertramp to U2, Coldplay, and
Radiohead.” –Lee Zimmerman, New Times Magazine

Indeed, Nothing Is Cohesive, but that is what makes it special.
It’s like an episode of Lost, where you think you finally know
something, and then they find another way to turn your
expectations inside out. It’s musical anarchy, beautiful chaos.
It’s art. It’s Transcendence. Do not miss it. RATING: A –Jason

Men and Grief

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Men grieve differently from women. Our cultural roles make it difficult for men to look for support, and harder again to accept it. Men are so often silent, solitary mourners who immerse themselves in activity and private, symbolic rituals. They feel profoundly, but often can’t express the depth of their loss.

A man is supposed to be “strong,” to support, to cope, and to plan in the aftermath of loss. His own pain must be put away.

Grief doesn’t discriminate between gender or culture. Our society has placed clear expectations and requirements upon our roles as men and women. Boys learn quickly what behaviour is considered inappropriate through such statements as, “Stand up and take it like a man.” “You’re the man of the house,” and the insidiously cruel “Big boys don’t cry.”

Male grief tends to have four main characteristics.

1. Moderated feelings
Men have deep feelings but don’t express openly, a more readily available feeling is anger. Men deal with their real feelings by redirecting their energies.

2. Cognitive Experience
Men work more with cognitions explaining their grief or with problem-focussed strategies that help them adapt and protect.

3. Problem-Focussed Activity
Men may adapt to loss by practical hands-on finding solutions to problems associated with the loss.

4. Desire for Solitude
Men don’t seek support groups. They want to master their own feelings and also reflect the more practical behaviour involved in adapting to a loss.

Societal Demands on Men
Men are expected to be “in control” of life’s demands and have to submit to the following demands society has placed on them. They’re expected to :-

· remain emotionally and physically strong
· always be rational
· don’t cry or publicly mourn
· don’t ask for support or affection —– be self-sufficient
· remain as non-expressive as possible
· provide, not nurture
· shake hands, don’t hug.

These generalisations continue to hold their power over men in pain. Let’s take the old myth about crying. The truth is it takes a truly strong man to be able to cry. Acknowledging that each of us grieve in very different ways can allow men to cope with loss and pain using their own various coping methods. We all grieve despite our gender, race or culture. We grieve because we have loved and, through our journey, we can be healed.

Tears are a gift
Grieving men need to hear that their tears are a gift to help their healing. Men have historically been fobbed off and denied this important gift. We need to open up to how men grieve and start sharing thoughts and feelings in a more meaningful, supportive way.

The realisation that grief can be a constructive, healing process, which can be shared with others, can inspire us all to be intentional in our grief process.

Grooming Public Hair - An Alternative To Removing Pubic Hair

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Women have been changing the appearance of their pubic hair for generations. Today, many use shaving or waxing to improve its appearance but others find these methods aren’t for them. They may have very sensitive skin, which is irritated by pubic shaving, or they are particularly sensitive to the pain of waxing. They find that grooming pubic hair is a better way for them to keep it looking neat without the risks of rashes, bloodspots, pimples and ingrown hairs, which are associated with removing pubic hair.

If you do decide waxing or shaving pubic hair isn’t for you, grooming pubic hair is very straightforward. Here’s how to get started.

Grooming pubic hair starts with daily exfoliating and moisturising of the pubic area. This keeps the hair and skin in good condition. If you wish to trim your pubic hair, first, wash and shampoo it. You can use a little conditioner too, so that the hair is tangle free. You’ll need a pair of small sharp scissors and a large-toothed comb to get started. A beard trimmer is even better. Set it to long length and then start trimming. Use scissors and a comb in the same way as a hair stylist does. Run the comb thru the hair and then cut against the comb.

Only take a little off at a time and remember to keep checking the mirror to see how you’re getting on. Curly hair will spring back when you’ve cut it so make sure you don’t cut it too short. Be careful you don’t cut yourself. Using a beard trimmer or pubic hair shaver is easier as you don’t’ have to worry about injuring yourself or trimming hair too short.

When you’ve finished trimming, take a shower to wash away all the hairs. As with shaving pubic hair, maintenance is important. Regular trimming will keep hair neat. How often will depend on how quickly your hair grows but every four days is about average.

Our mission is to gather all pubic hair removal info on one place. Find it only on the Grooming Pubic Hair source. All about pubic hair styles and pubic hair design on LeanderNet - www.leandernet.com

Starting A Home Based Internet Business – All You Should Know About Domain

Friday, October 12th, 2007

When you first think of starting a home based internet business, the first you might think off is internet and then immediately after would be the name of the new business you are about to launch. The name of the business, and actually the first thing about starting a home based internet business is the name, or as it is appropriately known, “domain”.

What is a domain? Domain is the name of your online business, and the very first thing you need to have when starting a home based internet business (and any other internet based business as a matter of fact). The domain will contain of three distinct parts, i.e. the first part which is www (or World Wide Web), followed by a dot. Then you will have your business name – let us say it is ‘xyz’ followed by another dot (or full stop) and lastly you will have com or org, au, ro, uk, etc. The last part will indicate what type or registration you have. If it is education, it will most likely be .edu, if it is Australia is can .au, .uk for UK, .ro for Romania and so on.

Your registration will determine in the end your full domain name. The registration can be directly by you over the net, or done through the web host. Both are genuine and trouble free, the charges for yearly registration seldom exceeding $100/-. Be careful however, when you do so, that you are named as the owner (registree) and not the web host.

When starting a home based internet business you will find it very useful to have sub-domains. In this way you can keep yourself organized your website free of clutter and have a separate address for each such sub-domain. The separate address would make it very easy to post links and link pages to search engines for best SEO results.

In similar lines you could use multiple domains. The difference between multiple domains and sub-domains is that the former is used a direction provider (re-direct) and the other is a separate folder. Both services are free and both are invaluable when starting a home based internet business since one organizes and de-clutters and the other boosts search engines capacity to identify your website.

There are a number of web hosts who promote free web hosting. Never go for free web hosting when starting a home based internet business. You can have that for a hobby or personal website, but for business is a definite NO-NO. The main reason for avoiding free web hosting, besides the fact that it gives very limited services, is because if tomorrow they go bust, you will disappear with their addresses. I advise you to use good professional services both for designing your website, as well as for hosting it. You cannot afford cheapness creep in when starting a home based internet business – value for money – YES, but not cheapness.

The domain is the first and last thing that a surfer will remember about your website. Make sure you choose a easy and remember-able domain name – or you will risk oblivion. Also always have on your page a link prompting for book-marking. This can be priceless when starting a home based internet business and you want to build up traffic.

How to Unlock Your Creativity?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Paul Kaufman, Senior Producer and Writer, The Creative Spirit Television Series writes in the preface of his beautiful book, ‘The Creative Spirit’ as follows: “Huck Jones, the animator who fathered Wile E.Coyote (one of the stars of the television series on which this book is based), says that in order to draw a coyote “you have to have a coyote inside of you. And you have to get it out .Animation means to invoke life and how do you invoke life? You have to find it within yourself!”

Each and every one of us in the world is creative. We have to unlock the creativity hidden within ourselves.

Paul Kaufman also quotes that when they were producing The Creative Spirit television series on location in Kyoto, Japan, a carver of Buddhist figures came to them and told them: “When I carve, I look for the Buddha in the wood. And, when I am carving, I need to bring the Buddha out of the wood. I have to be very careful not to cut the Buddha”.
So something inside you must be brought out.

Ned Hermann, President of Applied Creative Services Ltd., has developed, in 1977, the Herrmann Brain Dominance Instrument after carrying out a series of experiments using biofeed back to measure the electromagnetic wave output in the two cerebral hemispheres.
He developed a 120 question survey and contacted 5, 00,000 people including leading chief executive officers. He concluded that the brain profile is divided into four quadrants:

Upper Left: Logical, analyzer, mathematical, technical, problem solver

Lower Left: Controlled, conservative, planner, organizational, administrative

Lower Right: Interpersonal, emotional, musical, spiritual, talker

Upper Right: Imaginative, synthesizer, artistic, holistic, conceptualizer

On knowing these details one could understand himself/herself and enhance his/her creativity by acquiring the necessary skills.
What makes a person creative? Basically nine similarities are found in creative people. At the same time, the creative people have their own way also, since they are unique.

The nine common qualities are:

1) Inherited Sensitivity: A propensity for a greater sensitivity to certain types of experience- mathematical, artistic, musical, mechanical and literary. This appears to be well established by studies of families which exhibit high creativity in certain field over generations.

2) Early Training: The creative person more likely than not, had his childhood in a home atmosphere that encouraged, rather than discouraged, inquisitiveness.

3)Liberal Education: The creative person is more likely to express his creativity if he is exposed to teachers and curricula that place a premium upon questions rather than answers, and which reward curiosity rather than learning by rote and conformity.

4) Asymmetrical ways of thought: The creative person finds an original kind of order in disorder; it is as if he is stared at the reflection of nature in a distorted mirror, where ‘ordinary’ people are able only to see the image in a plain paper.

5) Personal Courage: The creative person is not afraid of failure or of being laughed at.

6) Sustained Curiosity: The creative person never stops asking questions.

7) Not Time bound: Morning, noon, night are all the same to the creative person. He does not work by clock.

8) Dedication: The creative person has an unswerving desire to do something, whatever it may be and whatever the obstacles to doing it.

9) Willingness to work: The creative person is constantly working for a solution.

Except the first two qualities, all the other seven can be acquired by practice by sheer willingness.
By developing them, you can unlock your potential. You can bring out all the treasure hidden inside you and you can enhance your creative power also.

Mentor? Who Needs A Mentor?

Friday, October 12th, 2007

Who needs a mentor. . .everyone who is truly serious about achieving more of their true potential, personally and financially. In fact, Richard Brooke says:

“If you’re someone who wants to break out and do something extraordinary that you would not do on your own initiative, you better have a coach-and you better have a great one.”

If you doubt Mr. Brooke’s quote may I suggest you investigate all top success icons in any field and you will find they all have Mentors and Coaches. It is reported that Michael Jordon at the peak of his career had 11 coaches.

You may be asking: what’s the difference between a Mentor and a Coach? Webster’s dictionary defines a . . .

Mentor as: “An experienced and trusted friend and prudent advisor.”

Coach as: “a private tutor; one who instructs or trains a performer or a team of performers.”

We have defined two types of Mentors - Life and Area Specific Mentors. A Life Mentor is one whose success system or methodology is universal and the foundation for success in every area of a person’s life.

Finding a Life Mentor whose success system is universal to everyone, no matter his or her education, talents or social status, is extremely difficult. This is why Napoleon Hill, author of Think & Grow Rich, is so unique and the ideal Life Mentor because his success system is the foundation for every outstanding achievement and fortune ever made.

An Area Specific Mentor is a mentor, often referred to as a “coach,” whose knowledge and expertise is in one or a few areas of life. For example, a head coach of a National Football League (NFL) team possesses knowledge, skills and a system encompassing all aspects of the game. However, he utilizes coaches skilled in the different areas of the game such as offense, defense and special teams.

Below are six areas in life where we can use Area Specific Mentors/Coaches:

  1. Physical/Health

  2. Family

  3. Mental/Educational

  4. Career/Financial

  5. Social/Civic

  6. Spiritual/Ethical

Seriously you say, do we and specifically myself really need a mentor? Let’s look at the facts:

No one person will live long enough to make all of the mistakes

In simple terms, mentors speed the learning process and are the reason for advancements in technology and the standards of living we enjoy today.

The last half-century has seen very little change statistically.

Using the oft-quoted post-war study published by the Social Security Administration and Denvey’s Economic Tables, less than 5% of the population at that time retired wealthy or financially independent. Sadly, a study done in March 2000 by the American Economic Review reported that the gap between “the haves” and “have nots” is widening.

Grade-Point-Score averages, according to studies, have barely been maintained over the last 50 years. Moreover, in professional sports, with all the advancements in mind and physical development, one would think that the number of super stars being produced would have increased dramatically; however, as a percentage, it remains virtually unchanged.

With the explosion of entrepreneurial opportunities in franchising and network marketing beginning in the 1980s, plus the same explosion from the mid-1990s on in Internet businesses, why doless than 5% of the participants in these ventures enjoy success and make any money! WHY?

Research and my own experience, which includes teaching an entrepreneurial course at a major community college for several years and working with several thousand participants in my Success and Wealth System course, leads me to one indisputable conclusion - Most people are without mentors, especially “Life Mentors.”

You may say: It only happens in movies or for those talented few you say! How about the heroics and courage against unbelievable odds in athletics, the military and in everyday life. These qualities of character and achievement were learned from a true Life Mentor such as parents, teachers and those who have paid the price to be called a Mentor.

Yes, we all need good Life Mentors and Coaches at every stage of our lives. But be careful to choose those who walk the talk and demonstrate and exemplify the life qualities and achievements in their own life.
