Acid Vs Alkaline Diet

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Our body’s internal system needs a PH of just above 7.0; our immunologic, enzymatic and repair mechanisms all function at their best in this alkaline range.
If our body becomes over acidic, i.e. under a PH of 7, you may start to experience a combination of these symptoms;
Low energy, fatigue
Nasal congestion
Hives
Muscle Pain
Weak nails, dry skin, dry hair
Frequent colds, flu and infection
Headaches

If you have these symptoms and eat foods which create acid in the body, you may need to balance it with an alkaline diet.
What foods cause acid in the body?
There is a whole list of foods that cause the body to be over-acidic: dairy and dairy substitutes, animal meat, most grains, chickpeas, condiments, aspartame, prunes, chocolate, peanuts, alcohol and quite a few other types of foods.

To balance your PH, the remedy is simple and logical; eat more alkaline causing foods.
To name but a few of these foods, there is; watermelon, lime, mango, most vegetables, vegetable juices, almonds, sprouts, avocados and green tea.

When you’re body becomes more alkaline, the changes that will take place are truly amazing! It will seem magical, but it’s all perfectly normal. You will feel how we all have the right to feel, we just don’t know it.

Benefits include:
Rapid weight loss
Increased energy
The need for less sleep
Improved skin and hair condition
Better mental attitude

Are these benefits worth pursuing? I think so, and you are crazy if you don’t agree with me! Fortunately, it is not hard to slowly alkalise your body. Take it one day at a time, add more and more green food to your diet, reduce the number of cups of coffee you have every day and you’ll soon reap the benefits.

Why a Self Help Book May Not Help You

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

For a self help book to work, we have to read right it through to the end. While this may seem like a no-brainer, many people never finish reading books that they buy. In fact many people never read a book after they finish high school.

The next step after reading, is to re-read the important parts and then start doing the exercises - probably every day!

Self help books can give us great information but we actually have to put that information to good use… (sigh)

Ah well! If we don’t have time for a book, how about a tape or CD while we’re driving in the car?

Now that sounds like a good idea It’s called *time management*. We can do two things at once! We can listen between the news bulletins, while watching out for the speed cameras or when driving the kids to school (Mum do we have to listen to that again?)

Or we can prance round all day chanting affirmations, telling ourselves we are prosperous and abundant and how our business is improving . Trouble is we don’t really believe it do we?

Or how about sticking little notes on all the mirrors in our house proclaiming how we are losing weight and getting better and better every day, the kind we have to rush around removing when visitors call….

I’m not saying these things don’t work, they can and sometimes they do. There’s some great motivational books, tapes and CDs out there and they’re helping people all the time. The problem is the majority of us are simply not getting the required results.

So we still haven’t dropped a dress size or made our first million. Our businesses are still stumbling along and the only thing that’s growing is our overdraft (not to mention our waistline)

So what’s the answer? Are we condemned to a life of mediocrity? Do we have to give up on our dreams?

The answer is accountability. We have to be accountable. (No I’m not talking about the tax office) To ourselves! To our futures!

It’s easy to go out and buy a book, a little harder to actually read it. Phew! We then sit back hoping that this time we’ve found the answer, this time we’ll see it through. This time we’re actually going to make it work!

The only way to make your life work is to take action. Start that business, buy that investment property, stick to that healthy eating plan!

Of course do your homework first, make sure your decisions are viable. You don’t have to take uncalculated risks. But don’t get stuck in “analysis paralysis”! Procrastination can sometimes be our worst enemy.

After all if you don’t try you will never succeed and that may be the greatest risk of all.

Wedding Websites Are Not An Option Anymore

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

In today’s fast paced planet, the internet is quickly becoming a necessity when planning any event. Getting married can prove to be an organizational nightmare. Trying to get your friends and family to the same place at the same time alone can prove to be no small task. The answer… a Wedding Website…

Wedding websites and online wedding organization tools are a fast and efficient method of helping organize your guests, provide them with the information they need to share your special day and share with your guests far and away the pictures, video and other mementos after the wedding itself.

Keeping track of who is having chicken and who’s having fish isn’t always as easy as it sounds. That first list you made up has so many changes to it you can’t remember if Aunt Peggy is still single or not. The tools available through wedding websites can help you keep track of who has rsvp’d and who is sitting where.

“Will you Marry Me?” If only it were that simple. Plan on spending the next many months answering the phone every few minutes to tell uncle morty … AGAIN … how to get to the church. By including the URL to your wedding website on your invitations you can prevent last minute confusion and save yourself the headaches.

Sharing all the photos and video clips from your wedding has become a much easier task as well. Wedding websites allow the married couple to easily share photos and video of the events with family and friends around the world right away. Uploading the photos to the wedding website has become very easy to do and makes sharing the moments easy.

Having a wedding website is no longer an option. By alleviating much of the stress involved with getting married, wedding websites have become as much a wedding staple as the cake.

Ten Things To Know About Contact Lenses

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

1. How hard is it to get used to wearing contact lenses?

Everybody adjusts to wearing contact lenses differently. How
long it takes for a person’s eyes adjust to wearing contact
lenses varies and depends on the sensitivity of the eyes and
also on the type of contact lenses being worn. Typically it will
take from one day up to about two weeks.

2. How do you take care of contact lenses?

Proper care of contact lenses varies depending on the type
prescribed. Disposable and extended wear brands are simply
thrown away after they are used. Soft contact lenses and gas
permeable lenses require more care to ensure longevity and to
protect against infecting the eyes.

3. Do you have to be a certain age to wear contact lenses?

Age does not matter as long as the person wearing contact lenses
can responsibly care for them. If not cared for properly,
contact lenses can become damaged or lost, and they can become
infected and cause serious injury to the eyes. Parents should be
part of the decision making process.

4. Is it possible for contact lenses to become lost inside the
eye?

This is highly unlikely. A contact lens can get stuck under the
eyelid, making it difficult to find. If you have trouble
locating your contact lenses, your eye doctor can help.

5. What is the difference between daily wear and extended wear
contact lenses?

Daily wear lenses are inserted into the eye and removed each
day. Extended wear contact lenses are made from different
materials and allow more oxygen to reach the eye. Because of
this, extended wear contact lens can safely be worn between
seven to thirty days before removing, depending on the brand.

6. How do you purchase contact lenses?

Before you can purchase prescription contact lenses, you must
get an eye exam and then have the eye doctor write out a
prescription. You can get the prescription filled at many
places, including retail outlets, doctors’ offices and the
Internet.

7. Besides daily and extended wear lenses, are other types of
contact lenses available?

There are other types of contact lenses available including
different colored contact lenses, bifocal contact lenses and
lenses for astigmatism, contact lenses that block UV rays,
special effect lenses, and more.

8. How will I know which type of contact lenses are best for my
needs?

Your eye doctor can assist you in determining the contact lenses
that are right for your eyes and for your lifestyle.

9. Are disposable contact lenses as good as daily wear contact
lenses?

Yes, disposable contact lenses are just as good as daily wear.
In fact, because of their shorter life cycles, they can be safer
for the eyes because there is less opportunity for bacteria to
develop and grow on the contact lenses. This decreases the
chances for developing an eye infection.

10. After I get contact lenses, are follow-u p visits to the eye
doctor required?

If you’re new to wearing contact lenses, the eye doctor likely
will recommend that you return after the first week of wearing
the contact lenses. The doctor will make sure that the contact
lenses are fitting properly and that they are being properly
cared for. You should get reexamined for contact lenses every
one to two years as well.

Male Breast Enlargement Men Who Wish For Larger Breasts

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Do you feel that you will learn enough from this article to help you out with the subject matter at hand?

Some men just naturally have larger breasts and nipples than others. Certainly, being overweight will increase the size of a man’s breasts. Age also may cause breasts to hang, creating breasts where before there were only firm pectoral muscles and small nipples. Most men who have noticeable breasts work hard to hide them, and wish they didn’t have them.

A marginal of men, however, require large male breasts. They often wish to increase the size of their own breasts. The require is usually, but not exclusively, a sexual one. Both heterosexual and homosexual men may long for larger, rounder, more feminine breasts. It is not at all bizarre for a heterosexual, married man to take herbal pills to increase the size of his breasts, which both he and his consort will then enjoy during foreplay and intercourse.

Men who require larger, rounder breasts should look for breast enhancers on the Internet. The Internet is a great place to discreetly and privately find information and harvest for male breast enlargement. If privacy is important to you, make sure that it is also important to the band selling you enhancers. Look for a privacy guarantee, or you may find yourself on a lot of embarrassing and trying mailing lists.

If you liked the first section of this article, stay tuned because we have more to follow in the next section!

Once breast enlargement has begun, the man may wish to start wearing a bra. Enlargement may increase sensitivity to the nipple area, which a bra can counter. The bra will protect receptive nipple skin from rubbing shirts. wearisome a bra is also very pleasurable for many men who wish for feminine, curved breasts.

No matter which way you look at it, having a firm understanding of this topic will benefit you, even if it is just slightly.

Six Quick Tricks for Learning a Language

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Do you think that you can’t learn a new language? Think again. Our brains maintain the capacity to soak up new knowledge of all types far into our advanced years. No matter what your background or past learning experience, you CAN learn to speak another language using these six quick techniques.

There are a multitude of reasons for wanting to speak the lingua franca of another people; travel, business, education, personal pleasure, even family or friends. Indeed it’s no small feat to habla español, parlez francaise, or sprechenze Deutcsh, but the prestige, financial gains, personal satisfaction and envy that can accompany this easily nurtured skill can be most rewarding.

But, “Can I really develop good communicative skills in a new tongue?” you may well ask. Yes, you can if you’ll use these 10 quick tricks for heightening your language – learning experience and incorporating your new language into your everyday life.

1. Take a short course: A number of language courses are immediately available in most areas at a local community college or university. Courses in the continuing education department tend to be more consumer-oriented, less academic and more focused on the prospective needs of students like you. The internet likewise abounds with foreign language course offerings. You can learn Swedish, Norwegian, Danish or Finnish via multimedia at http://www.caselearning.com. The Definitive Worldwide Guide to Learning the Thai Language and Studying Thai Culture is online at: http://study-thai.com if you’re up for the exotic.

2. Mimicking: “Mom, he’s mocking me!” Have you ever heard this complaint when one sibling repeated everything the other said? One imitating word – for – word the speech, sounds even actions of the other? It’s called mimicking and it’s so effective you’ll be using this technique to get talking in record time yourself. The procedure is simple, you repeat exactly, word-for-word, everything your model says. That model can be a newscaster, character on a soap opera, documentary narrator or the voice coming from your tape player or radio. Don’t worry if it isn’t perfect. Just start by trying to get your tongue around the words. You’ll acquire speed and ease with practice. You may feel silly at first, but persevere. You’ll get there sooner than you think.

3. Reading Aloud: One of the most effective language-learning tricks is to use the counsel found in The Bible itself at Joshua 1: 8, “…and you must in an undertone read in it day and night, …” and again at Psalms 1:2 stating, “… And in his law he reads in an undertone day and night.” Read passages in the target language aloud to yourself. This powerful technique not only develops speaking and pronunciation skills, but contributes to listening comprehension, vocabulary and grammar too.
Almost any reading material in your target language will do as long as it’s interesting and fairly short. You wouldn’t start an English language learner off by reading “War and Peace” now would you?

4. Watch TV: If you have cable, is there a station broadcast in the language you’re interested in? Many metro areas carry programming in Spanish, French, German, Italian, and Portuguese. Even Chinese and Hindi are available in some regions. Check with your cable supplier or programming guides to see what’s listed. Programs to watch are the news, soap operas and documentaries. Have a VCR? Tape a couple of programs and play them over and over to accustom yourself to the flow of the language. Many VCR models have slow-motion and stop-action features allowing you to slow down the program to aid your understanding.

5. Listen to Music: In Japan, English students karaoke the Beatles. In Latin America, students mimic Bruce Springsteen. In Africa, the Backstreet Boys rule the airwaves. Lip-syncing popular songs is all the rage for English language learners, so why don’t you turn the tables and use it to your advantage. Check at music shops and bookstores for song CDs and tapes. Ask around for recommendations on where recordings in your target language might be available. Ethnic restaurants and shops are another good source for music or referrals. Lyrics to literally thousands of songs are available online. Songs are frequently available online in many major languages. Check the local library. The internet will yield hordes of song titles and stations worldwide in dozens of languages. A good online source for starters is www.live365.com which has live global feeds 24 hours a day in multiple languages.

6. Read: Stop at the library for a grammar book and some reading material. The grammar book will be an infrequent guide through those rough spots when the target language grammar differs substantially from English. But don’t overburden yourself with grammar and rules. A copious variety of entertaining magazines exists in most major languages and unless you’re learning Cochimi or Kukapa, you should be able to find something. A newspaper, general interest magazine, the bible, brochures, even comics can help you along. Short articles are best at first. Although you can wade through one or more of those in a matter of minutes, your personal satisfaction at doing so will be boundless. Try www.amazon.com for hard-to-find titles.

You can’t pick your family; but you can pick your friends and you can pick conversations with native speakers of your target language. In the supermarket, in the mall, in the park, a restaurant or a convenience store – almost anywhere you happen to meet or run into a native speaker of your new lingua franca, don’t just stay there mum – say something. People are generally flattered that you’re trying to meet them on their own terms or in their own language and are usually more than happy to chat. Surely, you can say “Buenos Tardes” to someone passing down the aisle in the supermarket. It’s also great practice for breaking the ice when you finally light out for foreign soil.

These quick tricks in conjunction with a short language course will make your language-learning efforts less painless, more interesting, more pleasurable and much easier. Try to do something each and every day. Just think how green with envy your friends are all going to be - and start packing your bags.

The Correct Approach To Online Marketing

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

At the risk of sounding sensational, if you understand the concepts introduced in this article it could literally mean the difference between miserable failure and insane online profits for your business. I’m not talking about a magical formula that will guarantee success, but it’s something that all online marketers need to understand…

If you spend $50 on advertising and it generates more than $50 in net profits, that’s a good investment.

Simple right? Well, through the use of proper testing and a “scientific” approach to advertising, there’s no reason you can’t turn your original $50 ad into millions of dollars in profits. It’s just a matter of developing a system that creates a profit, and then reinvesting your initial profits back into your business in order to further expand your advertising.

Assume that through proper tracking of your website traffic you’re able to determine that 1 out of every 100 visitors to your site buys “Product X”. Let’s also assume that on the sale of every Product X you make a $50 profit. Do you see that any ad you buy which delivers more than 100 visitors to your site per $50 spent is a profitable investment? Promoting a site should be approached with this type of a scientific or mathematical attitude. Any advertising you do is either profitable or not, and you need to know which it is so you don’t waste time and money.

Here’s a somewhat simplistic strategy that you could use to get started:

1. Use a combination of free or low-cost strategies to promote your web site, generating initial traffic which will serve as a starting point.

2. Through proper tracking of your site, determine the exact “value” of a visitor in terms of dollars and sense. This is absolutely critical.

3. Utilize paid advertising that proves to be profitable according to step 2, based on the value of a visitor and the number of visitors generated.

4. Through ongoing testing, tracking, and tweaking, try to increase the value of a web site visitor as well as response to your advertising.

5. Repeat steps 2-4 as necessary - or forever.
The power of this scientific or mathematical approach to web site promotion is that once you have completed the steps you will have an almost automated advertising campaign that can literally send you all the traffic you need. Rather than spending hours and hours each day promoting your site, you simply buy more advertising.

The bottom line is that there are only 24 hours in a day and there’s only so much you can do during that time. Free advertising strategies can be effective, but normally, anything that’s “free” is going to “cost” you time.

On the other hand, if you could spend $1,000 a day on advertising to make $1,000 a day in profits, without spending hours doing it, why wouldn’t you just do that? It’s not hard at all. Consider Overture.com for example, where you can buy clickthroughs for as little as 1-25 cents.

That fits the formula quite nicely. Overture alone won’t send you enough traffic to make you rich, but it’s a good example of effectively promoting your site without spending much time doing it. And that’s just one example of many! Give this 5-step scientific approach a try. If you find you just can’t seem to make the formula work, there can only be a few reasons for it; either you’re not advertising in the right places, your web site isn’t doing its job, your profit margins are too low, or your product or service itself is the problem. Figure out which it is and you can’t fail.

I hope this helps in your future marketing decisions.

Author Tells of Mary Magdalene’s Return to Earth in Visionary Novel

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Lona Lyons does an excellent job in writing her version of Mary Magdalene’s story. She begins by taking you back in time to the days when Mary was with Jesus and his disciples. She explains how Peter was responsible for perpetuating the lies about her being a prostitute. Peter had to overcome his jealousy of her relationship with Jesus. Lyons brings you into the present with a story about how Mary manages to connect with Martha, Ruth and Sarah in their present day incarnations.

Lyons also does an excellent job in presenting her story. She writes in a way that draws the reader into reflecting on the divinity that we carry within ourselves and our connection to humanity. She writes about how we fall short of our expectations within ourselves. We carry within ourselves the feelings of unworthiness and the fear of being unlovable. Lyons reminds us that we usually don’t wake up to this falsehood until our deaths when we encounter the Divine Spirit that resides within us. She writes, “The work of heroes demands that we no longer put off our awakening until death. We do not have to die to get it.” This passage really resonated with me. I do not want to wait until I die to wake up now. Lyons is able to convey this message to the reader in an easily understandable way by engaging them in this fictional story.

I highly recommend “Magdalene Dispensation” to people who enjoy reading fictional stories that take them on a journey into a deeper level of exploration within themselves. This book would be excellent for spiritual women’s readers groups, especially because of the feeling of empowerment that is gained by the reader when she understands the importance that women’s roles played in the life of Christ.

Warning Signs of When You Are In Too Much Debt

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Many people these days have more debt than they can handle. Some even have more than they make in a single year before taxes. But how do you know when you have too much debt? And how did you get into this situation? It may not seem possible that you could have gotten so far in debt you feel as if you are drowning in it.

Getting into a lot of debt can come from the obvious things such as buying too many luxuries like new cars, a big house, the best appliances, etc. Big purchases add up the fastest because they are more expensive. Getting too many at once without paying off previous ones can put you in financial straights to pay off the loans. This of course can lead to repossession of these items if you are not careful. Small purchases over time on a credit card, without paying the balance in full each month, will get you in high debt. And you won’t even know how you got so deep because you have nothing big to show for it. Unpaid hospital bills will add up if they are ignored. They also affect your credit rating. Even with insurance, they can get steep depending on what the bill is for in the first place. Paying only the monthly minimum on any card while continuing to use it will cause your debt to mount. It’s like making many small purchases because it sneaks up on you and suddenly you can’t make all the minimum payments without having anything left over afterward.

Student loans are a culprit of high debt that many people don’t think about. It is getting even more serious with tuition costs rising yearly as well. It may seem hard to believe but people also get in over their heads trying to keep up with their neighbors. These days’ people will act like they have more money than they really do just to not be left behind in fixing up their house, owning a Siamese cat, or other such things. Some good, some bad. Having children can even be a culprit in your high debt. They need so much all the time, that you could suddenly have spent $500 and see nothing in return. And getting stuck in a job where there is no advancement or wage increases even yearly can get you farther into debt. Of course, any combination of these problems can plague you with high debt.

In this day of high debt, many people are using debt consolidation to help lower their bills. A debt consolidation lowers your payoff by negotiating with your creditors for a smaller payment. You have to save for it before you can pay it off, which can take a long time. Especially if you are so stretched you can’t save any money for retirement. But the payoff can be 40-60% off what your total amount owed.

Boost Your Anabolic Hormone Levels - Naturally!

Wednesday, October 17th, 2007

Anabolic steroid use appears to be on the rise. With the great increase in modern recombinant DNA technology, steroids such as growth hormone, growth factors and testosterone-based analogs have become increasingly more available and affordable. Despite their renewed popularity however, anabolic steroids are illegal and have negative effects on health, reproductive status and even personality. In response, this article aims to provide some basic information on anabolic steroids and how to boost the body’s own production levels naturally, using exercise.

What is an anabolic hormone?

The definition of anabolic is “to build up”- therefore anabolic steroids are hormones that cause increases body and muscle size. Actually, not all “anabolic steroids” are steroids but they are all hormones. An example of an anabolic steroid hormone is testosterone and its analogs. An example of an anabolic polypeptide/non-steroid hormone is growth hormone. Basically, hormones are chemical messengers released from certain tissues into the blood in response to a stimulus. Their role is essentially to help the human body adapt and remain in a state of balance or “homeostasis”. While the body is quite efficient at regulating its anabolic state on its own – the temptation exists to use large quantities of anabolic hormones to magnify the results. As recently as 15-20 years ago, growth hormone had to be extracted form the pituitary glands of cadavers. Now however, modern science is able to manipulate the DNA of bacteria to produce large quantities of the hormone. Steroid use has always been rife in bodybuilding arena, but with peer pressure and ever-increasing expectations of sport performance, anabolic steroid use has become commonplace in sports too - even among high school age athletes.

How do I boost my levels of testosterone and growth hormone?

It is possible to increase anabolic hormone production naturally however - the simplest method of doing this is by regulating the intensity of the weightlifting session. This is achieved by manipulating volume (sets and reps), load (%1RM*) and rest periods. Evidence indicates that exercises that recruit large muscle groups (legs and back) in exercises such as squats and deadlifts and that are performed with high intensity and moderate volume boost serum testosterone concentrations. Therefore the exerciser should use heavy loads (85-95% 1 RM) and multiple sets/exercises separated by short rest periods (30 –60s). Testosterone, the male sex hormone is responsible for the increased muscle mass and strength observed in men. This steroid hormone operates both on a gene level to increase muscle protein production (increased gene transcription). It is also suspected to work on the central nervous system, allowing greater muscle activation by motor neurons, resulting in greater force production. (It is unlikely that herbal testosterone “precursors” such as tribulus terestris have a large impact on production - the exerciser should save his time and money and devote more effort into sensible eating and exercising according to these guidelines.)

Human growth hormone (HGH) is a polypeptide (non steroid) hormone released form the pituitary gland at the base of the brain, and its release similar to testosterone, is dependent on the level of “stress” experienced by the body. Its main functions are to increase the transport of amino acids over cell membranes and to increase the synthesis of muscle protein, connective tissue (e.g. collagen) bone and cartilage thus directly causing “growth”. It also is responsible for increasing the level of glucose and fatty acids in the blood, and therefore has a direct body-fat reducing quality. Studies involving the release of growth hormone during exercise indicate that a typical bodybuilding program of multiple sets (higher volumes) of moderate intensity (e.g. 10RM) separated by short (1 min.) rest periods produce the largest increases. Many of the actions of growth hormone are actually mediated by another hormone called IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1) released by the liver and other organs in response to HGH. The release of this powerful stimulator of muscle growth has been shown to increase in response to the consumption of a carbohydrate and protein supplement before and immediately after a weightlifting workout.

In conclusion, it is hoped that this article has demonstrated that there are alternatives to using illegal and health threatening anabolic steroids. The human body is a marvel at adapting to stresses such as exercise and weightlifting without the need for external hormone administration. This article has highlighted that is in fact possible to manipulate the body’s own natural production of the same substances simply by regulating the intensity of the weightlifting session.

*1RM = the maximum amount of weight that can be lifted with good form for a single repetition.
