How to Use Online Two Tier Affiliate Programs to Your Advantage

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

To those who are not familiar with affiliate marketing, two-tier
could be a new term to you but to those who are involved in this
kind of money-making experience; it could mean a stream of
income. Two-tier is an enticing feature of a particular
affiliate program wherein, affiliates are allowed to sign-up
additional affiliates below them. So that when the
sub-affiliates otherwise known as second tier affiliates, earns
a commission, the affiliate above receives a commission too.

In two-tier system, the first tier of commission is just like in
the usual affiliate program. The sole difference is that it has
an additional tier/s or sub-affiliates, whereby marketers also
gain a commission once the people that the additional tiers
referred to the program generate sales. Theoretically, affiliate
programs can have multi-tier program with infinite number of
tiers, however, there are practical limitations. As tiers
increase, the affiliate program draws more webmasters who are
mostly interested in gaining profit from other’s work and
effort.

Two-Tier affiliate program is also recognized as Multi-Level
Marketing. When you sign-up for an affiliate program, you are
identified as the first tier and the person that you have
recruited or encouraged to sign up is the second tier. If there
are additional tiers, then the system can now be regarded as
multi-level marketing (MLM). But today, MLM isn’t as effective
and successful as it was several years ago. It is because at
present, affiliates can freely select from thousands of
affiliate programs and they can quickly switch from one program
to another.

You could probably go wrong if you’re thinking that you can
depend on your second tier to do the job for you. So if you want
to use two-tier affiliate program to your advantage and generate
more income by encouraging sub-affiliates to sign-up below you,
make sure that you carefully choose your affiliate merchant.
Pick those merchants who generate stable stream of high quality
products, give high or just commissions, offers real time
tracking, furnishes you with a proven and tested advertising
arsenal and treat their affiliates very well. You can also
sign-up for the merchant who gives high visitors-to-sales
conversion rate.

It is also advisable if you engage yourself with a web merchant
that has a user-friendly website which you can access anytime so
that you can monitor your statistics including visits and sales.
And if possible, choose the one with powerful marketing tools
which you can use in promoting their products.

You’re just wasting much of your time and effort and worse,
damaging your integrity once you promote poor affiliate program
because your visitor will surely presume that the product or
service you are reselling must be dreadful too. That’s the
reason why it is important to pick first-rate affiliate
programs. Through these, you can not only build up a good
relationship with your visitor, but also, you can easily get
more tiers to sign-up under you. You should also be cautious of
some affiliate programs that give more importance on the profits
to be earned in taking on other affiliates than on the income
from sales, because you’ll just eventually find out that someone
has already close those sales without informing you. Usually,
this kind of affiliate program offers a very low first-tier
payment but a sky-scraping second-tier commission.

If you want to start an affiliate program of your own, you
surely have to decide whether it will be a single tier or
two-tier affiliate program. Who am I to say which of these two
programs are better? But let me tell you the benefits you could
get out of two-tier affiliate program.

First, your profit will increase due to increased sales from the
customers that your second tier has referred. Second, you have a
much broader customer base to which you can sell your products
and services. Then, you gain more and stable income because the
customers referred by your affiliate and sub-affiliates could
probably develop a lifetime loyalty on your site and your
products. Plus, you have an army of sub-affiliates who will
promote and resell your products and services to their visitors
and subscribers.

Two-tier program has been a proven winner and should be the
number one choice for the budding affiliates as well as for the
affiliate program managers. When you start gaining profits from
your site as well as your tiers, this is now the right time to
say that you have used two-tier affiliate program to your
advantage.

What to Look for When Purchasing Inflatables

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Used mainly for outdoor birthday parties and other children’s events, inflatable slides and other inflatable options are super for outdoor fun.

As the spring/summer approaches, being prepared with a quality product can extend your rentals for the whole year and also for years ahead. Not only does this product have to last to make a “good” profit this year, but also for years to follow. As an inflatable rental company, there are many options to choose from when purchasing the inflatables from types offered to various supply companies. Below are some factors to think about. When purchasing inflatables for rentals, keep in mind your goals and the consumers wants and you are sure to have a profitable business.

What does your consumer want?

The consumer wants a product that will entertain the children. The main reason for renting inflatables is to give the kids a fun and lasting activity. There are many suppliers of inflatables, but choose inflatables that will keep the party going. You may choose from slides, obstacle courses, moonwalks, games, and the newest inflatable sensation, theatre systems. Having a well-rounded supply gives the consumer options.

In addition to making the children happy, you also want to make the purchaser feel safe and comfortable about the product. There are tons of low cost inflatables out there. But, with the low cost, comes low quality materials and construction. It is important to think of the user and their safety.

What are you looking for/your goals?

Any business owner knows that quality brings back clients. To have a long standing profitable business it is important to start with quality products. Purchasing low cost inflatables may help your bank account in the short run, but in the long run will not work. In addition to continual repair or even new purchase costs, accidents may happen that will not only hurt your bank account, but children as well. That is nobody’s goal.

Choosing a quality supplier with great customer service is extremely important. With good service and products comes trust and comfort. It is important to shop around and see what is out there. Talk to suppliers and read testimonials from others. Purchasing your product is an integral part of your business. It your product doesn’t work, your business won’t either.

In summary, think of the needs of both you and the consumer. A great business has a balance of pleasing both and it all starts with the product.

Hurricane Fact Sheet

Hurricane Fact Sheet

A hurricane is a large whirling storm that usually measures 200 to 500 miles (320 to 800 km) across.

On the average each year, six Atlantic hurricanes occur.

Sustained winds of 100-150 mph (160-240 km/h) occur with a typical hurricane. Some winds may exceed 200 mph (320 km/h).

The eye of the hurricane averages 14-25 miles (22-40 km) across. The eye is quite calm as compared to the winds in the eye wall.

The winds of the hurricane spin in a counterclockwise direction in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere.

In the North Atlantic hurricane season is from June 1 to November 30. Over the Western Pacific, the typical cyclone season is never quite over.

If the heat released by an average hurricane in one day could be converted to electricity, it could supply the United States’ electrical needs for about six months.

The heat energy released in a single day can equal the energy released by the fusion of four hundred 20-megaton hydrogen bombs.

As it travels across the ocean, a hurricane may pick up as much as two billion tons of water each day through evaporation and sea spray.

Some two million metric tons of air are circulated in, up and out of the hurricane each second.

The Sound of Business - Part 4

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

PART IV - THE SOUND OF BUSINESS

STEPS TO CREATING YOUR SONIC PERSONALITY©

1. List all the human attributes inherent in your business
personality. An accounting firm may want to project stability,
reliability, and a conventional outlook - think the avuncular
voice of Walter Cronkite. An advertising agency might want to
deliver a hip, cutting edge, in your face creative personality -
think the edgy delivery of Chris Rock or Dennis Leary. Now
before you get all excited and start shouting, ‘how I am I going
to afford these guys?’ the answer is you don’t. There are great
voice actors available at very reasonable prices that can
project the desired style and delivery.

2. What are the audio qualities of the Signature Voice? Do you
want a man or a woman, or a combination of both? Do you want a
deep base voice full of conviction, a snooty British accent
dripping in condescension, or a comic rapid-fire patter aimed to
amuse and entertain? When we created the
MassiveRecordProductions.com
(http://www.massiverecordproductions.com) project, we required a
smart-alec wise-guy approach, in the vain of Dennis Miller. In
this case, the actual accent of the voice was less important
than the delivery.

3. What kind of language, phrasing, and cadence is required to
give the Signature Voice its personality? When we were looking
for a Signature Voice for a DVD that was to be used at the
Winter Baseball Meetings, we decided on a combination of Dizzy
Dean and Mel Allen. The key was that ‘good ole boy’ southern
charm conveyed through a combination of baseball jargon,
phrasing, and dialect. We weren’t looking for someone to imitate
Dizzy Dean, just someone who could deliver the essence of
Dizzy’s love for the game.

4. Wet or Dry? Have you ever watched one of those ‘The Making of
…’ documentaries on a how a movie was made? Sometimes they
will show you a scene with dialog but no music or sound effects.
It’s really very flat, even with the actors doing their dramatic
best. Voice without music or sound effects is called a ‘Dry’
delivery. When the effects and the music are added in
postproduction, the scene delivers real emotional impact. The
music and f/x provide emotional clues and memory hooks.

5. Write the script. I find having the voice in my head is a
great help in writing the script. Whether you’re shooting for
Sidney Greenstreet or Rod Serling, the cadence, phrasing, and
language are what makes the script come alive, and creates the
Sonic Personality© that will represent your company. Unrelated
to the actual voice but definitely of importance to the script,
is the point of view. The script should not be about you, it
should be about how your audience can benefit from knowing you.
Don’t fall into the trap of focusing on you and listing a bunch
of product or service features. Talk about what you can do for
your audience, and in that way you will make a real connection.

6. Audition the talent. Once you have a script, it’s time to
audition a number of voices to find the one that fits the Sonic
Personality© you are looking for, and of course the price you
are willing to pay. We generally have 50 to 100 people audition
for each script. We then narrow the search down to the two or
three best voices that fit the audio and budget requirements and
present them to our client.

7. Implement on the Web. Once the voice audio is complete, music
and sound effects can be added as needed. The audio tracks are
then cut into digestible clips, compressed, and converted into
appropriate implementible files. The Sonic Personality© program
can be delivered on a website, or a DVD or CD presentation.

The Proof Is In The Toaster

In a world of mental clutter, ‘information anxiety’, and low
attention spans, Sonic Personality© will become the next big
weapon in webmedia presentation and marketing. But let’s say
you’re still not convinced even after reading the four
installments of ‘The Sound of Business.’ Let me show you exactly
how Sonic Personality© can work in a practical example, but you
have to promise to participate.

Take a sticky note or a plain piece of paper and place a big
question mark on it. Under the question mark draw a line. Now
place the piece of paper in your daily agenda two weeks from
today. In two weeks, I want you to write down on that piece of
paper the name of the fictitious product in the example we are
going to create. If you can remember the product’s name, Sonic
Personality© has done its job.

Here’s the setup. There are certain things in life that are very
personal, the way you dress, how you comb your hair, the way you
take your coffee, and how you like your toast. There is nothing
worse (well of course there is) than waking up on a Saturday
morning, taking the last two slices of bread, placing them in
the toaster, and in several minutes find you have what can best
be described as a ‘burnt offering.’ There is definitely a need
here that needs to be filled.

Our made-up client is a small appliance company who has created
a toaster that audibly warns you what setting your toaster is on
as soon as you put your bread in it. This product has appeal for
anyone who has been irritated by ruined toast. The client isn’t
sure what kind of Sonic Personality© they want to present, so we
create a series of Sonic Demo Spots.

Click on the link below to hear the various sonic demo spots,
each with its own Sonic Personality©. Don’t forget to create
your two-week reminder and if you remember the name of the
product, you should start thinking about how to implement your
own Sonic Personality© campaign.

Coach’s Corner - Youth Sports and the Concept of Perfection

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

The Dodgers had a breakfast a couple of weeks ago to tell their story about off-season moves and the team they’ll put on the field for 2005. I was there to listen to the new owner, Frank McCourt, the general manager, Paul DePodesta, Hall of Famer, Tommy Lasorda, and the Dodgers’ manager, Jim Tracy. They told a good story about the Dodgers and what their plans are, but the most interesting aspect to me was something that was said and its application to teaching kids about sports and ultimately, life.

After the presentation was finished, people from the crowd were allowed to ask questions. One guy asked about Milton Bradley and the Dodgers’ thoughts on the negative example that he sets as a role model for high school and younger ballplayers. You may remember, Mr. Bradley has not always been a shining example of good sportsmanship and is currently undergoing anger management counseling as a result. To a person, each of the four Dodgers representatives, while acknowledging that there had been problems, defended Milton Bradley as a great guy who is often misunderstood; as a member of the Dodgers family, he deserves a second chance and that everybody really does like him as a person.

The Concept of Perfection

To me the most interesting comments came from Jim Tracy. Not only did the Dodgers’ manager say that Bradley is somebody he loves working with, he said he is an ever better player to manage because he is a “perfectionist”. I’m paraphrasing, but Tracy basically said that he loves Milton’s attitude because he never thinks he should make an out when he’s at the plate and he doesn’t feel like there is ever a ball he can’t catch in the outfield. He expects and demands that he will be “perfect” every pitch, every out, every inning, of every game. After the meeting, I talked to Jim Tracy about this idea of “perfect” as it applies to kids.

What we talked about was perfection: how is it good for a ballplayer, especially a child, to expect to be perfect? More so in baseball, where failure is the expected norm; failing 7 out of 10 times makes you a star. Everybody swings and misses. The best players in the world regularly walk in runs, and errors are made almost every game. Why is perfect the right goal? Jim Tracy had to leave before we had a chance to finish the conversation, but it did get me thinking about the goals and attitude we should teach our SportsKids.

The Right Attitude – It’s about Control

Why would anybody ever tell there kids to be perfect? Michael Jordan once said: “I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I’ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I’ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed.” Babe Ruth had the record for strike outs in a career until his record was broken by another Hall of Fame member of the 500 HR club, Reggie Jackson. Nobody is perfect!

If you can’t be perfect, what is the right goal? In his fantastic book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Steven Covey talks about being “response-able” for your actions. In sports and in life there are so many things that are completely out of our control, but we individually have the ability to choose our responses to each situation – positive and negative. In essence, you can’t control the actions of anybody else or the results; only yourself. Consequently, the focus has to be on what you can control.

Surprisingly, my 5 and 6 year old basketball team that I coach had the answers. Since I was thinking about Milton Bradley and perfection, I decided to ask some of the kids their thoughts on the subject. First, each of them is afraid of different things playing sports. Some didn’t want to miss a shot, get a rebound off their head, make a bad pass or lose the game. So we talked about Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Kobe Bryant and others and how they made mistakes too. It became very liberating for them to realize that they didn’t need to do everything perfect to be a good basketball player.

The more we talked, the better the kids started to feel about themselves. Realizing that you don’t have to be perfect is a good thing, but does that conflict with what Jim Tracy said was so great about Milton Bradley: expecting to get a hit every time at bat and to catch every fly ball? Not necessarily if the focus shifts from being perfect to doing what you can control. While my older teams that I coach focused on the “results” of actions, it was again the 5 and 6 year old kids who did a great job in helping me understand what elements of a game can be controlled:

1. Fundamentals – there is no reason that every kid can’t learn to do things the right way. If the coach can teach a kid to perform with proper fundamentals the results will follow. The emphasis here has to be on first, the coach learning the right things to teach, and then, insisting that the kids do it correctly. Remember: Practice makes Permanent!

2. Focus – Every kid can think and have their head in the game. Even the kid who can’t make a basket can be in the right place all the time.

3. Hustle – Do your best and put out the most effort that you can on every play. Every coach should be working on kids to hustle, play hard and put out effort – not on results.

4. Teamwork – This plays into focus as well, but working with your teammates is something that every player can do, control, and excel at.

5. Sportsmanship – There is never any reason to not be a good sport. This year, I’ve seen far too many kids saying “bad game” instead of congratulating the other team on their effort. Be a good sport – always!

Measuring Your Results

At the end of each game, ask the kids to evaluate their individual and team performance. You’d be surprised at their own understanding of how they did. Don’t spend time on performance measurement, but on the non scorebook things that the kids can control. We can’t control the results of our actions, but if we work on everything we can control, we won’t be perfect, but we will be the best we can be.

The Macronutrient Balancing Act

Thursday, October 18th, 2007

Finally, dieters and healthy eaters everywhere have reason to rejoice, for there is a clear understanding of which fats, and which carbohydrates should be eaten for optimal health.

For too long, healthy eaters with a range of diet or weight loss goals were provided with confusing, sometimes counterproductive information with respect to carbohydrates and fats. For example, one the one hand, many eaters were told that carbohydrates were unhealthy causes of weight-gain, and should be avoided. Yet on the other hand, these same people were provided with carbohydrate-laden nutritional supplements, or worse, nutritional supplements that were little more than containers for low quality, incomplete protein. And as for fats… fats were seen as the enemy and to be avoided at all costs; this despite the fact that unsaturated fat is required by the body for optimal health.

But now, finally, there is clear and consistent scientific research that concludes carbohydrates and fats are essential parts of a healthy diet. After all, carbohydrates and fats are fully-fledged macronutrients, and along with protein provide the foundation for optimal body system functioning.

With respect to carbohydrates, researchers have discovered that low glycemic carbohydrates are exceptional sources of body fuel. Low glycemic carbohydrates do not cause the blood sugar to rise. Instead, the body gradually releases insulin to absorb these carbohydrates and transform them into useable energy. Dieters who have been convinced to give up carbohydrates entirely have been provided with the wrong information. Low glycemic carbohydrates provide the body with an excellent energy source without causing an insulin spike and the subsequent creation of permanent fat cells.

Speaking of fat cells, eaters around the globe have come to dread the word fat, and have been told to only choose foods that are “low in fat”. Yet while it’s generally wise to eat low-fat foods, there is a massive difference – one might even say a life altering difference — between unsaturated fats and saturated fats. Further, there are some highly nutritious unsaturated fats made up of Medium Chain Triglycerides or “MCTs”, which are shorter fatty acid chains; and as such, absorb and digest much more easily than longer chain saturated and unsaturated fats. This is an important distinction because just as how carbohydrates are essential for a healthy diet, so are fats.

So the verdict is in, after years of scientific research: carbohydrates and fats are good for health, provided that the right types of each are consumed. For carbohydrates, the right kind is the low glycemic kind, which the body absorbs gradually. For fats, the right is Medium Chain Triglycerides or highly nutritious unsaturated oils such as those derived from hemp seed, flax seed or borage.

Yet knowing the truth about carbohydrates and fats is one thing. Eating the right forms of each is quite another. And of course, there is protein as well; which is also another essential and sometimes elusive macronutrient. So where is a consumer supposed to find the right kind of proteins, the right kind of carbohydrates, and the right kind of fats?

Thankfully, there is an ideal solution called Isometric® by Protica Research.

Isometric is a single-serving food source that offers the most nutritionally-correct proteins, carbohydrates, and fats. Just as importantly, based upon the renowned Isometric Diet®, these macronutrients are delivered in the ideal 33%/33%/33% balance. Isometric delivers 25 grams of low-glycemic carbohydrates, 25 grams of complete protein, and 10 grams of highly nutritious unsaturated fats. Therefore, eaters are confidently ingesting a complete meal with every 300-calorie Isometric serving.

Isometric also provides essential vitamins and minerals, which fortify the nutritional value of each serving. Weighing less than three fluid ounces, Isometric is the smallest complete meal on the market.

Indeed, there are healthy carbohydrates and healthy fats, just as there are healthy proteins. And an even greater reason to celebrate is the fact that this awareness is captured by Isometric, a scientifically balanced food that provides a complete meal’s worth of nutrition in less than 3 fluid ounces.
