Craps Rules and Strategy

Craps

Craps seems like a complicated game, and it can be, but you don’t have to know all of the intricacies to play it well and receive a fair return. If you stick with the common bets with a low house advantage and don’t wage when you aren’t certain what it is you are betting on and its odds.

By betting on the pass line and buying odds you can wager with virtually no house advantage. This almost makes the term ‘gamble’ invalid if you think about it.

Pass Line
The game begins by placing a bet on either Pass or Don’t Pass before the Come Our roll. If a 7 or 11 is rolled first you win and 2, 3, or 12 mean you loss if you bet on pass. The opposite is true if you bet on Don’t Pass. Except 12 is a push if you bet Don’t Pass. Most everyone bets on Pass, so if you choose Don’t Pass, do not draw attention to yourself, especially if you win. If you win that means everyone else just loss, and aren’t going to take kindly to boasting. Should any number besides 2, 3, 7, 11 or 12 be rolled first, that number becomes the point. Do not bet on the Pass line after the Come Out roll, it is legal, but the odds are against you.

Buying the Odds
In order to take advantage of the wager with virtually no house advantage, you must initially bet on the Pass Line. Next you can wager a multiple (depending on the casino) of your Pass bet that the point will be rolled before a 7. Depending on the number of the point, you can win up to 2:1.

Betting along these basic lines will provide you with honest chance of coming out a winner. Add the excitement that the craps always seems to generate and the only way to lose is not to play.

Choose The Type Of Outdoor Wedding You Want Carefully

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Now that the event is in the planning stages are you going to have it inside a lavishing church? How about on the beach, as the sunsets over the lapping waves of the ocean?

Lapping waves sound so romantic don’t they? Sunsets, what could be better?

Here are some simple things to think about when choosing your wedding location and whether or not those lapping waves could be a blissful romantic soul soother or a nightmare in the making.

First think about choosing the site of your ceremony. The beauty of the ocean or a river path needs little embellishment. When planning an outdoor wedding, let the location speak for it’s self. And remember that Mother Nature speaks loudly so make sure an outdoor wedding is exactly what you want by using these questions in your decision-making lists.

THE PLACE:

Is the place you are looking at free of other events on the date you want?

Are all permits and papers easy to access, do you need special permissions for large parties?

Will the space where the chairs be placed in loose sinking sand or is the beach full of storm debris?

Do you have a long flowing gown in mind? Would a church floor be better then a lawn, for the dry-cleaning bill afterward?

Does my area have storms in the month I want my wedding? If so, should I have the ceremony inside or rent a tent?

Does both families agree on style like casual, religious or traditional wedding?

If you have a particularly long ceremony think about if you want guests to be prepared to wait to use the restroom (if on a beach) or be prepared to rent extra

Once you have an idea of the area you want your wedding to be preformed you can add the type of build you want it to be in, by using this list of things to think about.

TYPE OF TENT OR BUILDING:

Will it be a frame tent or a tent with center poles and ropes on the outside to secure it? Will the area hold tent stakes?

Should you rent a church or community center because a large portion of your family are elderly and cannot walk well on sand or winding paths?

Does your local park have the perfect place like a gazebo or arbor free of charge to local residents?

Open air means wind, bugs, and birds

You now have some basic ideas about the place of your special ceremony and type of building, tent or open area you may enjoy. You might want to think about how large a wedding party that space can hold.

HOW MUCH SPACE YOU NEED:

The number of people attending the wedding determines size of your area.

Style of wedding. Will it be a formal or casual style?

Size of the band or do you have a recording for processional music?

Size and shape of chairs or bench for setting guests and number of aisles required

You might have a difficult time hauling a tent or canopy with aisle runner, kneeling benches, candelabras, a wedding arch and other accessories to a small-secluded beach or riverside. If this were a concern for you it would be better to hire a professional rental company that can help you coordinate all the extra details that must be imported for an outdoor event.

An outdoor wedding can be the most wondrous of occasions and hold a place in your heart and memory forever. With a little forethought and planning your day can go off without any hitches and I hope these hints about what to think about when planning your event helps you on the way.
My last suggestion would be to purchase a guide to outdoor weddings and talk to your local wedding specialists before jumping in feet first.
Good Luck and congratulations on your up coming wedding and God Bless.

Super Foods: The 10 Healthiest Foods to Eat

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

A list of the top 10 healthiest foods may seem like a come-on.
Magic food? We all know there are no real magic foods. The road
to optimum health is not in a pill or one magic food. But there
are foods that pack such a nutritional wallop and possess such
powerful health benefits, that they are referred to as “super
foods”.

This healthy food list consists of foods that are nutrient
dense. That is, they have more nutrients per calorie than most
other foods. They have also been proven to contain vitamins,
minerals and other nutrients that prevent disease: from cancer
to heart disease to arthritis, and many more.

These super foods are perfect for heart healthy, low fat cooking
and most fit perfectly into a low carb lifestyle as well.

The 10 healthiest foods are foods that are so exceptionally good
for us that we should include them in our healthy diet on a
regular basis. Our list of super foods is arranged
alphabetically, not in order of importance. Each is an amazing
food, jam packed with health giving benefits.

The 10 Healthiest Foods to Eat

1. Berries Berries are extremely rich in antioxidants which help
protect the cells in our bodies from damage and therefore from
diseases like cancer. Among other things they are also an
excellent source of Vitamin C and soluble fiber. Blueberries
might help reverse the short term memory loss that often comes
with aging.

2. Broccoli Broccoli (and other cruciferous vegetables like
cauliflower and cabbage) helps fight cancer, especially breast,
colon and lung. It boosts the immune system. Broccoli also
contains antioxidants and a substance called sulforaphane, which
research is showing to be a powerful cancer fighter and
preventer.

3. Citrus Fruits The citrus bioflavanoids in oranges, lemons,
limes and grapefruit have anti-cancer and antioxidant
properties. Many of these citrus bioflavanoids have also been
shown to have anti-inflammatory and blood clot inhibiting
abilities.

4. Garlic Numerous studies have shown that regular consumption
of garlic can lower our blood pressure. It also prevents the
blood from being overly sticky and decreases LDL cholesterol
(the “bad” one) while increasing the good HDL cholesterol.

5. Nuts Walnuts are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids,
a special type of fat that is essential for our bodies, but that
the body cannot produce. Omega-3 essential fatty acids protect
us against heart disease.

Almonds are also known for their ability to help lower LDL
cholesterol levels.

6. Oats Oats also help reduce cholesterol. Research shows that
one bowl of oatmeal per day can reduce cholesterol by up to 23%.
Oats are also considered an excellent grain for diabetics as
they have less impact on blood sugar levels than some other
grains.

7. Salmon The Omega-3 fatty acids in salmon and other fatty
fish may help prevent heart disease and stroke by lowering the
body’s rate of blood clotting.

8. Spinach Spinach’s secret weapon, lutein, makes it one of the
best foods in the world to prevent cataracts, as well as age
related macular degeneration, the leading cause of preventable
blindness in the elderly.

9. Tomatoes Tomatoes contain high levels of lycopene. Lycopene
is a powerful antioxidant and as such helps to protect the cells
in our bodies from damage.

10. Turkey Turkey is one of the leanest protein foods and is
low in calories, making it an excellent healthy food choice.
Turkey also contains selenium which has been shown to inhibit
cancer development, improve the immune system, and aid in the
metabolism of our thyroid hormone.

You can see that the top 10 healthiest foods, or “super foods”,
are also some of our favorites. By including these super foods
in a healthy diet on a regular basis you can easily gain many
health benefits.

Making healthy food choices just got easier.

Commonly Available Hair Loss Help

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Many women and men are looking for help to cure hair loss. It is
a problem affecting one’s social life. Most of us feel that the
outer appearance is an important thing to be successful. Hence
there is great need for hair loss products..

Hair loss treatments are available in different forms such as
medicines, lotions, and shampoos. To choose the drug that is
right for you, you first need to figure out the cause of your
hair loss. There are many reasons for losing hair: aging,
heredity and hormonal imbalance. DHT, Dihydrotestosterone is an
important precursor for hair loss. DHT will block the flow of
essential nutrient to the hair, which in turn stops healthy hair
growth.

Saw Palmetto is a powerful herb that lowers the DHT in the body
by 5 alpha-reductase blockades. Saw Palmetto stops hair loss by
blocking the cell membrane receptor sites in the hair follicle
where DHT might get absorbed.

Another herb called Nettle Root also provides hair loss cure by
preventing two enzymes viz., aromatase and 5 alpha-reductase,
which makes estrogen and dihydrotestosterone (DHT) respectively.
Research confirmed that these two enzymes have been blocked
completely by the Nettle Root extract.

A cure of hair loss can also be achieved by choosing the
medications that block DHT. Hair Genesis, NuGen, and Revivogen
are the most suitable medications to block DHT in the scalp. Out
of these three products, Revivogen is the most popular one. It
fights against the thinning of hair by minimizing the DHT level
in the scalp.

Viviscal, Nisim, Folligen and Tricomin are the commonly
available shampoos, scalp lotions and conditioners that help to
stop hair loss. Viviscal is used extensively for curing hair
loss. It is available in tablet form also. Folligen is available
with copper peptides to treat hair loss. Tricomin is available
in three forms as spray, shampoo and conditioner. It also
contains copper.

Trace minerals such as Zinc and magnesium also help to stop hair
loss. Zinc is mainly helpful in fighting against skin problems
such as boils, sore throats and acne. In addition to this, Zinc
plays a crucial role in cell division.

Though there are so many medicines are available to help
treating hair loss, only two medications (Rogaine and Propecia)
have been approved by the FDA. Rogaine and Propecia are used by
men oll over the world to stop hair loss.

Choosing an Answering Service: Part II

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

In my last article, we covered four basics: 1. take advantage of any free trial periods, 2. watch out for long contracts, 3. get references, and 4. don’t be too concerned with high prices. For this article, we will assume that you have diligently followed the 4 steps in the first article and are ready for the next evolution – how to your answering service running smoothly. We will explore a few industry tips & tricks on how to keep your service professional and reliable.

First & foremost, don’t ask too much of your call center. This is not meant as don’t expect your answering service to do their job, but instead, keep their responsibilities short & sweet. As with any individual, the more tasks they are required to do, the more room arises for error. The main point here is “Shortness Equals Success”. What do I mean by that? First, keep your answer phrase short (i.e. how the operators pick up your line). Second, keep the information they gather from the caller at a minimum. Third, make sure your contact information is not a labyrinth of pager numbers, e-mail addresses, home phone numbers, and cell phone numbers (i.e. call Jim at home, if he is not there, e-mail him, if he does not respond page him and call his cell phone, etc.). Try to make sure your employees keep their cell phones with them at all times as this seems the best way to keep steady contact with the call center.

Second, place regular test calls to your call center. Consider your answering service your employee. As with any employee, if left un-supervised, they will start to evolve into a less than model representative of your business. Make sure every 10 or so days you place a test call to your answering service to see how they are managing your calls. Don’t always call at the same time of day, instead try to stagger the times when you call as sometimes the afternoon staff is more efficient then the evening staff or vice versa. If you experience any problems, notify your call center liaison immediately and place another test call shortly thereafter to ensure the problem was rectified.

Third, make sure you have a healthy relationship with your call center. Treat them as you would treat your own employee. Be friendly and courteous and you will be treated the same. Imagine your own business and your own clients. Are there clients that are never satisfied no matter what you do? Would you rather lose their business than spend 10% of your day managing their complaints? Rather then the “the more I yell, the more efficient they will be” premise, try to base your relationship on “the nicer I am, the nicer they will be” premise.

Fourth, perfection is not immediate. Based on the conjecture that your answering service is your employee, they are probably not going to “get it right” the first time you forward your phones. As with any employee, they need time to grow and learn about your business and their duties relative to your needs as a business owner. Have patience, be helpful, keep it simple, and they should flourish.

Target Heart Rate and the Mature Exerciser

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Anyone who has ever become involved in exercise, especially
aerobic exercise, has probably heard the term “target heart
rate” or “target heart range” or THR. This is a very important
concept for anyone who is involved in an exercise program or
someone who wants to start a program. Unfortunately, some
exercise professionals gloss over this concept and don’t let
people know just how important it is. My wife belongs to a
Jazzercise group and she tells me that the instructors hardly
bring up the need for monitoring your THR during an exercise
session (my wife wears a heart rate monitor to keep checks on
her THR all the time, so I guess I’ve had a positive influence
on her in that respect). I sure am glad that I’m not the
insurance company handling the liability insurance for this
group. You see, not monitoring your THR can actually be
dangerous. And, not only can it be dangerous for mature people,
but it can also be dangerous for younger people too.

So, let’s look at the concept of THR and why it is so important.
Under normal circumstances, the human heart can only beat so
many beats per minute. If it goes above or below these certain
parameters, it usually means that something is wrong, and that’s
one of the reasons we need to know what it is. For the average
person, a simple rule of thumb to determine your maximum heart
rate (MHR) is to subtract your age from 220 (women can use 210).
Example: a 60 year old male can calculate his MHR by taking 220
- 60 = 160, so his MHR is 160. A 60 year old female would take
210 - 60 = 150, so her MHR is 150. Keep in mind that this is
just a rule of thumb. If you want to find out what your exact
MHR is, you will need to have a doctor put you through an
aerobic exercise test to exhaustion (a “max test”), which isn’t
usually worth while for most of us. When I was in graduate
school they would put me through a “max test” about once every
other week to give the other students a chance to see how all
the equipment worked and what they needed to do to run
everything properly. They used me because I was a well
conditioned triathlete and a little stupid too. Believe me,
those tests are tough, and you don’t want to go through one
unless you absolutely have to.

The reason you need to know your MHR is that it is used to
determine your THR for different exercise goals. What do we mean
when we say “different exercise goals”? Some people are going to
exercise just to stay or get healthy. Others will want to
exercise to lose weight. And, still others may be exercising to
increase their aerobic or anaerobic capabilities for a certain
sport (swimming, sprinting, marathons, etc.). Whatever these
goals are, the THR to achieve them is going to be different. If
someone just wants to use aerobic exercise to help become or
stay healthy, a good THR for them might be 65% - 80% of their
MHR. Using our 60 year old male whose MHR is 160, his THR for
staying healthy would be 160 x 65% = 104, 160 x 80% = 128, so
his range would be 104 - 128 heart beats per minute (this is
measured by taking your pulse). If he wants to lose weight, he
might use a THR of 60% - 70% of his MHR because this level will
burn more fat. And, don’t forget, monitoring your heart rate
isn’t only to achieve your exercise goals. It is important that
you keep track of your heart rate so that if anything unusual
starts to happen while you’re exercising you will be able to
stop.

A really convenient way to keep track of your target heart rate
is with a heart rate monitor. These can cost anywhere from about
$60 up to $250 and more depending on how many bells and whistles
you want. You can also just take your pulse at your wrist or
neck (how to do that is food for another article), several times
during an exercise session to make sure you stay within your
range.

Knowing your THR and MHR is very important, both for safety and
for appropriate exercise goal setting. Learn what they are, and
monitor them regularly.

Zidane inflicts pain on Spain!

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Les Bleus dismantled España yesterday behind the brilliant performance of 34-year old Zinedine Zidane and he and his mates are confident heading into their showdown in Frankfurt this weekend.

Once again these championships were marred by questionable officiating, although it must be difficult for these guys as the players are constantly diving to the field. In North America where we are use to watching punishing hits in football and hockey, it is sad to watch these great athletes, play the game with a fragile style.

With the scores tied at 1-1, after Frank Ribery had leveled David Villa’s penalty, and the game heading towards extra-time, on 83 minutes Henry fell to the ground clutching his face after a challenge from Spain’s Carles Puyol.

At no time did the Barcelona defender connect with Henry’s face but referee Roberto Rosetti gave a free-kick from which Patrick Vieira headed home to put Les Bleus in front before Zidane supplied the finishing touch to the victory.

Just as in 2002, when Spain controversially went out to South Korea in the finals, they felt cheated.

While everyone has been drooling over Brazil in this tournament, the French have steadily gotten their game in gear and now we will see a rematch of the classic 1998 confrontation. That affair resulted in large quantities of Beaujolais’ being consumed for days after France’s victory.

The stage is now set as the eight teams that remain are Italy, Ukraine, England, Portugal, Germany, Argentina, Brazil and France.

Italy as we have seen are vulnerable and they could get upset by the underdog Ukraine’s. Germany has the home side, but Argentina has been playing with passion and this game could go to kicks. England is overrated and their day is up, as Portugal will move on.

Zidane leads the French to the semis with a shocker over Brazil!

What is Spyware and How to remove it

Sunday, November 11th, 2007

Spyware, Malware Adware etc. What do words like these conjure up for you? I know what they do for me: a menace. I think we’ve all had bad experiences with it? And we definately want to get rid of it! Spyware away if you will, As you can tell, i’m anti-spyware.

At best its an annoyance. At worst its dangerous. I should know. i got so tired of it, i decided to get clued up on it. So now i know a trick or two about the scourge called spyware.

The term ‘Spyware’, refers to unauthorized spyware software (or in some cases hardware) that is installed on your computer. Software that is intended to spy upon all your online activities. Which run from keystrokes to which sites you browse. Sound innocent enough? Perhaps, until you think about what keystrokes you type in, like passwords. And who wants other people knowing every website you visit? Even if they are from legitimate sources, like pop-ups from sites you visit. They are irritating and can slow down your computer or even crash it! And some can install themselves and then work on installing other programs without you even being aware. Sounds like a nightmare to me.

Two well known examples of spyware are so-called Trojan-horses and key-loggers. These capture all keystrokes and send them back to the originator of the software. Who if he’s lucky, will get all your passwords, credit card numbers and the like. You can imagine what someone could do with information like this! So what is needed is to delete spyware.

So, are you now wondering how spyware gets onto your computer? Well, it is really not that hard. It needs to be ‘installed’ on your computer. Of course, you don’t realise whats happening. Say you see a pretty wallpaper picture that you like, you go and download it, and guess what? While your downloading it, you are also downloading hidden spyware! Nasty isn’t it? And when that happens, detecting the spyware, isn’t easy.

One thing that shocked me while investigating this, and I had no idea about, was remember how when your deleting junk email you sometimes get an ActiveX box that pops up on you? I always used to just click on ‘OK’ to get rid of it. Much to my shock, clicking on ‘OK’ can be an invitationn for secretive spyware to install itself on your computer! Yikes! So if one of those
pesky ActiveX boxes appear what you do instead is click on the x in the top right hand corner. That will block spyware being installed.

Also an ActiveX box can pop up when you visit a website and asks if you want to install such and such program on your computer. This time you get a yes or no option. DON’T click on ‘No’. The same thing applies in this case as with the email one; you click on the x on the top right corner and stop spyware being installed.

Viruses and Worms, which you may have heard of, are a form of spyware. So is the P2P (peer to peer) software sharing product out there. ‘Kazaa’ for instance. Another, which is not so obvious perhaps, is no cost CDs that come with magazines. These usually come with spyware ready to invade your computer! Yet another type are toolbars that you install on your IE (internet explorer). They may well also have spyware attached to them.

From all this you can see it is quite likely you have Spyware lurking on your computer right now! Which may make you feel uneasy. So now you are probably thinking, how do I get rid of this garbage?

Well there is good news and bad news. It is not that hard to eradicate much of it. However, it is not possible to delete 100%. Unless you reformat your hard drive- a rather extreme measure I think you would agree!

So, now you are ready to wipe these nasty files. Firstly, you need to back up all your viital data and files. Its alwayss iimportant to back-up whenever you do anything system-wide on your computer. Fact is, you should do daily back-ups. You never know when your computer will crash. But for the purposes of this task, backing up is a must!

Next, you will need to download the software needed to take care of the spyware. The 3 best are: from Microsoft, Lavasoft, and Spybot. All 3 are needed, since using only one, will never be as effective as 3. Here are the sites to download the free spyware removers. Yes, they are no cost software.

http://www.microsoft.com/athome/security/spyware/software/default.mspx

http://www.lavasoft.de

http://www.spybot.info

Some spyware is VERY hard to detect and takes a little more specialised grunt.

This tool will get rid of ‘CWS’ (coolwebsearch) which are many kinds of spyware known as a browser hijacker. This is any kind of software that resets your browsers settings to point to other sites. They can then ‘hijack’ any information you supply.

Here’s a powerful free one called CWS Shredder. Here’s the link:

Hopefully this has given you some valuable advice to keep the dreaded Spyware out.
