For all of us, emotional intelligence encompasses five basic areas of mastery. They are:
- Knowing your feelings and using them to make life decisions you can live with.
- Being able to manage your emotional life without being hijacked by it — not being paralyzed by depression or worry, or swept away by anger.
- Persisting in the face of setbacks and channeling your impulses in order to pursue your goals.
- Empathy — reading other people’s emotions without their having to tell you what they are feeling.
- Handling feelings in relationships with skill and harmony - being able to articulate the unspoken pulse of a group, for example.
The scope of these skills means there is indeed room for all of us to learn, grow, and improve. There is a lot to learn here. Learning about emotional intelligence, learning about the tools for energy efficiency; that’s only the beginning. It’s like reading all the books on sailing and small boat sailing. You then have the theory mastered, but you have no hands-on practice. It’s only with practice that we gain mastery of anything. That’s true of our feelings and emotions too!
How do you address so many broad areas?
- Assessment tools are a great way to learn to identify your emotions
- Energy efficiency tools are invaluable in helping you tap into inner wisdom and resources to manage your emotions and understand what the best choices are when you are making life decisions.
- Persistence can be learned. In fact, providing challenges and hardships to children, to give them an opportunity to develop persistence and stick-to-itiveness, is intrinsic in many cultures. Goal-setting and the 6 Most- Important-Things List are just two tools you can apply immediately.
- Developing empathy is powerful in critical business situations like a sales call, a closing, your management style, etc. Using your energy efficiency tools will allow you to pay attention to your instincts in this area instead of second-guessing yourself.
- Once you learn to be the manager of your feelings, it becomes an easy habit to apply in any business or personal relationship.
Mastery of all the basics does not occur overnight. But with practice it comes very quickly - just like learning to ride a bicycle. Once you experience how it’s ’supposed to work’, how energy efficiency is ’supposed to feel’, it’s easier and easier to reestablish in a variety of circumstances. That’s where mastery is achieved. That’s where you and everyone in your business benefit from your mastery.

Low back pain is becoming a common problem is today’s society. The statistics for such claims are staggering. Close to 40 percent of all workplace absences are do to back pain. From 1997 to 2001 the workers compensation board received over 90,000 claims for back pain injuries. That was over 25% of all the claims that were made during that time. Although many back pain claims are made due spinal disc damage, osteoporosis, arthritis or infection it is often that the pain is not caused by any of these factors. There may be something that you can do on your own to try and relieve your discomfort.
Weak lengthen muscles coupled with chronically tight muscles (muscle imbalances) can pull the body’s bones out of alignment causing inflammation, compensation and even nerve pain. Back pain and especially low back pain diagnosis’ (spinal disc damage, osteoporosis, arthritis and infection) are often the effects of an unhealthy spine. An unhealthy spine is one that has limited mobility due to miss-alignment which is often caused by chronically tight muscles. When the spine is unable to function with proper mobility it will begin to degenerate.
How does one keep a healthy spine? Here are some areas of focus that can help you to avoid spinal degeneration and or back pain.
The spine is supported by a group muscles often referred to as the muscles of the “CORE”. Strengthening these muscles will give the spine a strong base of support. Focus on the inner abdominal and other core muscles by performing stabilization exercises and functional exercises. Always maintain a strong posture and keep your abdominals braced throughout these exercises.
When low back pain occurs, people often make the mistake of focusing solely on stretching the low back. There are two common factors that play a large role in today’s low back pain complaints.
Cause #1 - Forward head and rounded shoulders. In today’s working world a large number of us sit in front of a computer with a forward head and rounded shoulders as we type on our key boards and focus on our monitors. For every inch that your head is forward it will add 8-10 pounds of strain to your low back. This constant forward posture fatigues, weakens and lengthens the muscle of the low back. Fix your computer posture by sitting with your shoulders down and back and push your chin toward the back of your head to correct your neck (cervical spine) posture.
In addition work on stretching your chest muscles and SCM (front neck muscles). Hold stretches for 20 to 30 seconds for 2 sets on each side. These are the two tight muscle groups that cause computer posture. To take things a step farther strengthen the (cervical flexors) rear neck muscles and (rhomboid muscles) upper middle back muscles.
Cause #2 – Tight hip flexors. The seated position that many of us are in throughout the day also plays a large role in many low back pain complaints. The Psoas muscle group located in the front of the hip often referred to as the hip flexors is in a shortened position when we are seated. This muscle is connected to the femur (thigh bone) and the lumbar spine. After sitting for a long length of time the muscles will remain shortened when you stand up. This will cause the muscles to pull the lumbar spine toward the front of your body. The end result is over extension of the lumbar spine (arching low back). Discomfort! The quadriceps muscles (front thigh) and hamstring muscles (rear thigh) also can play a part in this discomfort if they are tight.
Stretch the hip flexors (psoas muscle group), front thigh muscles (quadriceps muscle group), and rear thigh muscles (hamstring muscle group). Hold stretches for 20 to 30 seconds for 2 sets on each side. To take things a step further strengthen the gluteal muscles (buttocks).
Before taking part in any fitness or wellness program it is recommended that you receive clearance from a physician. If these strengthening and stretching techniques do not work it is suggested that you seek the assistance of qualified fitness professional and a chiropractor. Be sure to ask around to find the best available in your area.

The alignment is an absolutely crucial and vital part to any
golfer’s game. You swing round your body, therefore if your body
is offline, your swing in turn will be off line and out of sync,
resulting in a poor swing and a poor shot, usually ending up
deep in the rough.
When setting up to the ball, firstly ensure the clubface is
square to the ‘ball to pin line’ (the line between the ball and
the pin), and ensure that your shoulders, hips and feet are all
parallel to the ‘ball to pin line’, if these 3 are not aligned
and one is out, a good body turn is ruined with a poor swing
resulting.
When training, on the driving range or wherever you can
practise, a useful technique for lining up is to place a club on
the floor and check that you’re your feet, hips and shoulders
line up with each other, the shoulder alignment is particularly
crucial because your body turn starts with your shoulders.
Ideally, you should be lining your body up slightly to the left
of the target (slightly to the right for left hand players), as
opposed to trying to line your body up with the target itself.
On the course a simple test to see if this is the case, is to
look at the target, if you can see your left shoulder, then you
are lined up to too far to the right (visa versa for
lefthanders), your shoulder should be just out of sight.
Poor Alignment can have several affects, these are all negative.
Aligning too far to the left most commonly leads to the slicing
of the ball, this occurs because you are not parallel to the
line running from ball to pin. As a result the backswing is
limited so an ‘out to in’ swing results. As a consequence the
club face is slightly open on impact which generates side spin
on the ball. This leads to the common problem which is the slice
which I will explain in another article.
If you align too far to the right, the opposite will take place
and a hook will occur due to the ‘in to out’ swing of the club,
although quite common with beginners and inexperienced players.
Often they will subconsciously become aware of this and try to
adjust mid-swing, over adjusting by opening up the clubface as
impact approaches. This again results in the slicing of the
ball, which is very difficult to control and usually leads to
‘the rough’.
Alignment is an often overlooked and crucial part to any
golfer’s game and therefore must be addressed for you to succeed
at any level of golf. For as long as you’re alignment is out,
you will never be able to consistently hit straight accurate
shots and will increasingly find yourself hooking or slicing
into the rough, turning those pars into bogies and taking your
round from a 75 to 85.
So get that alignment sorted and go shoot some birdies.

When setting up your Google Adwords campaign, Google requires that you write the ad first and then select the keywords and phrases. However it is highly recommended that you first select your keywords and then write your ads. This infact helps you to write your ads in accordance with the keywords you have chosen to advertise on.
If you have not read the Keyword Research Topic for Google Adwords yet, it is important that you do so before going any further. If you find yourself setting up your Adwords campaign before you have had time to do keyword research, then only create a bogus ad, and make sure that you return to revise your ad later. In the keyword research topic we had discussed about grouping keywords into relevant groups. You will want to write ads for each of these keyword groups. Them what you bid on keywords, correspond your ad to its group of keywords. You will want to match your ad copy as closely as possible to the keywords in each family of keywords.
Google Adwords allows only a limited amount of text on your Adwords Ads, so it is vital that you make the maximum out of it. The only way to stand out from the crowd is to be different. Make sure that you have ads that are eye-catching and attractive. Making your ads attractive is a very huge factor for success as these ads can improve your Click-Through-Ratio (CTR) highly. If you have a higher CTR than your competitors you could actually be paying less per click, and appearing higher in the sponsored ads result list. This is because Google Adwords favors ads that consistently have a high CTR.
Google has some basic Adwords guidelines to consider when writing you ad. The headline of your Adwords ad must be less than 25 characters (including spaces). Google Adwords then gives you an additional 2 lines for descriptions. However each line is limited to 35 characters (including spaces). So it is evident that you have a fairly limited space in which to entice your customers. It is important that you use it wisely.
Make sure that your Google Adwords sparks the interests of the users if you are to get clicks to your merchant website. Your first eye-catcher will be your headline. After your customer has clicked through your Adwords ad, they will reach your merchant site where you might list all the important features of their product or service. Get to know these features and ask yourself “How do these benefit the customer ?” To pick out the most effective benefits to include in your Adwords ads headline you must see things as your customer would. When writing your Google ad dont just thinks like an affiliate, but also like a customer. Consider what brought the customer to your ad and what benefits they can gain from your product or service.
Utilizing your keywords in your Google Adwords campaign is one simple method to pinpoint your customer’s interests and needs. If the customer reached your Adwords ad by searching for a specific keyword then the same keyword in your ad will certainly catch his/her eye. Begin by writing your ad in sentence and/or paragraph form. State what it is your customer should know. Then reduce it and refine it until you are satisfied and happy with your Google Adwords ad.

No doubt that millions of persons begin their journey rushing
through the newspapers to see the daily horoscope. We want the
horoscope to tell us positive things will happen in the next 24
hours, like how will somebody look at us nicely, how fast we
will be rich, or our love compatibility. In contrast, we are
less interested to come up with a horror-scope like ‘today is
not your day for love, business deals are not in the stars for
you today. ’
But first of all, which element of the horoscope are You? Hmm…
don’t really know what the horoscope is? Well, the horoscope is
an astrological chart for a specific person or group that
correlates each zodiac sign as they are crossed by the Sun, Moon
and planets and the position of planets in astrology. Now, the
elements Fire, Earth, Air and Water are based on ancient Greek
philosophy; they are the building blocks of life: the solid
earth upon which we stand, the running water we use as a
resource, the air we breathe and the fire which keeps us warm
and aids in the creation of additional resources. The horoscope
elements reflect a quality of human nature and correspond also
with the Tarot: Fire = Wands; Earth = Coins; Air = Swords; Water
= Cups.
Here are the list of the Sun Signs elements, but if you still
don’t know, ask mom for your birthday and keep reading this:
1. Earth Signs
Well-grounded, and realistic, your earth sign makes sure you
stay in the real world. When it comes to friendship, no-one is
more rock steady than you. A builder of long-lasting bonds, you
are talented in business and good with money. You find
fulfillment in seeing tangible results for your efforts. Earth
signs are: Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn. Taurus (April 21 – May
21): They are faithful and generous friends with a great
capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with anyone
outside their social rank. The ruling planet for Taurus is
Venus; the color of choice is Pink, and its star stone is the
Emerald. Virgo (August 23 – September 23): They need the
stimulus of practical problems to be solved rather than the mere
routine or working to set specifications that need no thought.
The ruling planet for Virgo is Mercury; the colors are Green and
Dark Brown, and its star stone is the Sardonyx. Capricorn
(December 22 – January 20): They plan carefully to fulfill their
ambitions; they are economical without meanness, and able to
achieve great results due to their organizing ability. The
ruling planet for Capricorn is Saturn; the color of choice is
Brown, and its star stone is the Black Onyx. 2. Fire Signs These
three are the sexiest signs in the Horoscope. Enthusiastic and
creative, courageous and spontaneous, confident and fun-loving,
you are ardent in love. Other cooler signs may be dazzled by
your bright flame. Fire signs are: Leo, Aries and Sagittarius.
Leo (July 23 – August 22): Their personal magnetism and innate
courtesy of mind bring out the best of loyalty from
subordinates. The ruling planet for Leo is the Sun; the color of
choice is Gold, and its star stone is the red Ruby. Aries (March
21 – April 20): The Arian is a pioneer both in thought and
action, adventurous, ambitious, and impulsive. The ruling planet
for Aries is Mars; the color of choice is Red, and its star
stone is the precious Diamond. Sagittarius (November 23 –
December 21): Their strongly idealistic natures can also suffer
many disappointments without being affected. The ruling planet
for Sagittarius is Jupiter; the color of choice is the Rich
Purple, and its star stone is the Topaz.
3. Air Signs
These three are the most intellectual signs of the Horoscope.
Their skills make them great thinkers and problems solvers.
Air signs are: Gemini, Libra and Aquarius.
Gemini (May 22 – June 21): Since they lack the quality of
conscientiousness, they are apt to fight a losing battle in any
attempts they make to be moral. The ruling planet for Gemini is
Mercury; the color of choice is Green, and its star stone is the
Agate.
Libra (September 24 – October 23): Librans are sensitive and
have the psychic gift of understanding the emotional needs of
their companions and meeting them with their own innate
optimism. The ruling planet for Libra is Venus; the color of
choice is Blues, and its star stone is the Sapphire.
Aquarius (January 21 – February 19): Many are psychically
intuitive to the Age of Aquarius, an age in which mankind will
experience a great spiritual awakening. The ruling planet for
Aquarius is Uranus; the color of choice is Turquoise, and its
star stone is the Turquoise.
4. Water Signs
These three always stay tuned to their feelings, conscious and
subconscious, with a level of intuitiveness sometimes bordering
on the psychic. Water is the element of the poet, which have
them ready to interpret the universe. Air signs are: Cancer,
Scorpio and Pisces. Cancer (June 22 – July 22): The Cancerian
character is the least clear-cut of all those associated with
the signs of the zodiac: It can range from the timid, dull, shy
and withdrawn to the most brilliant, and famous. The ruling
planet for Cancer is the Moon; the color of choice is Silver,
and its star stone is the Pearl. Scorpio (October 24 – November
22): They are like a volcano; they can erupt at any moment.
Their tenacity and willpower are immense. The ruling planet for
Scorpio is Pluto; the color of choice is dark Red to Maroon, and
its star stone is Opal. Pisces (February 20 – March 20): They
are more readily concerned with the problems of others than with
their own. Their psychic and spiritual qualities can lead them
into careers in the church or as mediums and mystics. They are
also sexually delicate. The ruling planet for Pisces is Neptune;
the color of choice is soft Sea Green, and its star stone is the
Moonstone.
