The Unspoilt Wilderness in Paphos, Cyprus

Monday, November 19th, 2007

I have lived in Paphos for a few years now and after the
euphoria of living in the sun, going to the beach, seeing the
sea every day and watching fabulous coastal sunsets every night,
had settled to an acceptable level, I then discovered that
Paphos has so much more to offer.

Don’t get me wrong, all of the above still excite me beyond
belief and the ‘Med’ lifestyle is all it is cracked up to be,
but behind the mask of simply being a tourist attraction,
offering all that the discerning holiday maker could be looking
for, there is another face to Paphos. Not many visitors will see
or experience this face because they are taking a break from
their daily lives and looking for fabulous beaches, water
sports, great restaurants and total relaxation. But, I have
found out what is going on in the background.

Cyprus is an extremely interesting place for nature lovers.
Paphos is home to a very rare and very shy wild sheep called the
Moufflon that has magnificent curving horns. These heraldic
animals, although roaming wild, can be seen at the forestry
station in Paphos forest (Stavros tis Psokas). Another delight
is that the island has visiting Loggerhead and Green turtles
that come ashore to nest every year on the sandy beaches around
Paphos. These marine turtles are strictly protected and if you
do decide to venture further afield than the local sunbathing
beaches and seek out the areas of unspoilt wilderness, you may
come across frames on the beach which warn you of a turtle nest
and kindly ask you not to disturb. I have also found that many
University students studying marine biology spend their holiday
time here helping out with the research into these fabulous
marine creatures. What a holiday!

Cyprus is also heaven for bird watchers. The island has become a
stop over for many migratory birds on their travels from Europe
to Africa during the autumn and back again in spring. More than
300 different bird species have been seen and recorded and the
island has two endemic species which are often seen in the
coastal regions, which are the Cyprus Pied Wheatear and the
Cyprus Warbler. One of the islands larger varieties of bird is
now very much under threat and conservationists battle hard to
save it from extinction. The Griffin Vulture was once a common
sight on the island but now their numbers have dwindled to less
than 50.

So to those of you that have visited before and enjoyed your
summer holidays in Cyprus, why not try an autumn visit. Most of
the tourists have returned home and the beaches once again
become the domain of our wildlife. You will of course have to
make an effort as not all these areas are easily accessed and
the areas around Paphos, namely the Akamas Peninsula, can only
be accessed by four wheel drive. This will be a unique
experience that you will take home and treasure. Imagine walking
a beach with no sun beds, no shops, no noise apart from the surf
and often nobody else but you! Enjoy the fresh air, the scenery,
the forests and keep an eye out for the elusive Moufflon. Then,
before leaving our wonderful wilderness find yourselves a
comfortable place on the rocks or lay that blanket on the beach
and experience some of the best sunsets in the Mediterranean.
Paphos behind the mask is a memorable place!

3 Easy steps to a successful Psychic Reading

Monday, November 19th, 2007

It is very important to prepare for your reading. Over the years, we have developed some recommendations which you might find useful in order to get the most out of your psychic reading.

Through the correct preparation you will be able to receive a great deal more benefit and your reader will find it easier to discover the information you need to know. Whether you plan to receive your reading by e-mail, mail, fax or a phone reading you should always prepare for your reading.

1. Find the right place.
Firstly you should find a quiet place where you know you will not be disturbed. This will enable you to relax. Even the thought of someone disturbing you can be enough to unsettle your reading. Although sometimes we would like answers immediately you should avoid calling while in a busy enviroment where it is hard to be quite or still the most successful place is a place where you feel relaxed and safe.

2. Empty your mind of its thoughts.
This can of course seem impossible but to the best of your ability you need to empty the thoughts from your mind. One of the easiest ways to do this is to concentrate on your breathing. Your mind can only concentrate on one thing at a time and by concentrating on your breathing you will help shut out other thoughts. We recommend you do this for 5 minutes

3. Concentrate on your question.
Bring the question you desire an answer to your mind and expect that it will be answered. Because we are entering the spiritual realm to find the answers that you seek, the more relaxed and in harmony you are the better you’re reading. We also find that once your answer has been submitted to the cosmic it receives an answer, even if it is not straight away. We have many cases each day where a person may not feel they have had the exact answer but during the next few days it appears. So get ready for your psychic reading and remember the better you follow the techniques listed above the better your reading will be.

Xylitol and Dental Health

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Xylitol is a natural, low-calorie sugar substitute that has been approved and used during
the last few decades. Chemically, xylitol, is a pentitol (five carbon polyol) or as they are
alternatively called a sugar alcohol. It is produced mainly from birch and beech wood and
this is the reason that xylitol is alternatively called birch or wood sugar. Xylitol has the
same organoleptic properties as sugar, meaning that it looks and tastes like sugar, however
it has a number of advantages over sugar. One of the main advantages is that it inhibits the
creation of dental caries.

The first evidence of xylitol’s beneficial effects in preventing dental caries came from a
study conducted in Finland that was published during the seventies. After the publication
of that study, several clinical trials have been performed to evaluate the potential
beneficial effects of xylitol in dental care. Today, we have enough evidence to say with
confidence that the use of xylitol, and especially the substitution of sugar with xylitol
has beneficial effects for dental health.

The mechanisms through which, xylitol exerts these beneficial effects are both direct and
indirect. First of all xylitol is not fermentable by the bacteria that inhabit the oral
cavity, in contrast with sugar. That means that by substituting sugar with xylitol the
bacteria that are responsible for the creation of dental caries are deprived from one of
their main sources of energy.

In addition to that, one of the main reasons that the consumption of sugars and
carbohydrates cause dental problems is that they reduce the pH of the mouth causing enamel
demineralization. The consumption of xylitol on the other hand has the exact opposite
effect, it raises the pH of the mouth, protecting tooth enamel from demineralization. It
should also be noted, that since the pH of the plaque is not reduced by the consumption of
products sweetened with xylitol, remineralization is promoted.

Another important attribute of xylitol is that it has bacteriostatic effects. That means
that xylitol inhibits the growth of bacteria like mutans streptococci, that are the main
culprits for the creation of plaque and dental caries. This effect of xylitol is attributed
to the fact that when these bacteria take up xylitol it is converted to xylitol-5-phosphate
which results in the formation of intracellular vacuoles and the degradation of their cell
membranes.

Finally, a few recent studies have demonstrated that the habitual consumption of xylitol products and to be more precise habitual chewing of xylitol gum by the mother can have a
preventive effect for their children dental health. This is attributed to the fact that xylitol consumption by the mother can reduce the mother to child transmission of bacteria that are responsible for dental problems.

All the above make xylitol a very attractive sugar substitute. Especially since it’s natural
and it doesn’t have any known side effects. The most common way of consuming xylitol is by
chewing xylitol sweetened gum. However, any xylitol sweetened product will have almost the same beneficial effects.

The Evolution of Kickboxing

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Kickboxing is a sporting martial art very similar to boxing, except for the fact that it uses both arms and legs for striking. It can be practiced either as a full-contact combat sport or for general fitness. While the term refers to various forms of combat sports, it is generally associated with Japanese and American kickboxing. The term was introduced by Osamu Noguchi, a Japanase boxing promoter.

The History of Kickboxing

Kickboxing is a derivative of karate, boxing, taekwondo and other combat styles and it was created to compete against them. All styles of kickboxing have been first developed in Japan. However, similar influences were taking place in the United States as well and martial artists from toured both Japan and US, developing a common kickboxing standard.

Initial Japanese Development

As a specific form of martial art, kickboxing was inspired from Muay Thai, a combat sport originated in Thailand. Osamu Noguchi, a Japanese boxing promoter, developed it as a competitive style to oppose Muay Thai. He wanted to present to the Japanese people the fighting style that he had discovered in Thailand and in 1966 he took three Muay Thai fighters to compete against Japanese karate fighters. The Japanese won by 2-1. Noguchi and Kenji Kurosaki studied the combat style thoroughly and developed a combined martial art called kickboxing. At first, throwing and butting were allowed in order to distinguish it from the Muay Thai style. However, they were later eliminated.

A few years later, the Kickboxing Association, the first kickboxing organization, was founded in Japan. Kickboxing was broadcast on TV and became very popular in Japan. Back then, Tadashi Sawamura was an extremely popular kickboxer. After he retired, kickboxing started to lose its popularity and stopped being broadcast on TV. He hadn’t been on TV until 1993, when K-1 was founded. In 1993, Kazuyoshi Ishii, who was the founder of Seidokan karate, produced K-1 under kickboxing rules (no elbow or neck wrestling). Since then, kickboxing started to regain its popularity and became famous again. Soon it’s popularity started spreading through North America and Europe as well.

Spreading to North America and Europe

Jan Plas, a Dutch kickboxer, and a few Muay Thai pioneers, initiated Mejiro jym in Netherlands in 1978. He had learned kick boxing in Japan from the famous Kenji Kurosaki. In addition, he was also the one that founded the Dutch Kickboxing Association (NKBB) in 1978, which was the first kickboxing organization in the Netherlands.

Kickboxing & Fitness

Kickboxing has gradually become a fitness craze as well. Kickboxing classes are very popular in European countries also. They are attended by both men and women. It has become very popular among women of all ages who are always looking for new methods to lose weight or stay in shape.

As you walk by a kickboxing class, you will see that most times it is packed. It seems that all you have to bring is yourself and plenty of energy. Kickboxing classes are generally coregraphed to house or techno music. The whole class consists of a full hour of punching to the beat. It involves a lot of arm movements, squats, power movements and a good amount of cardiovascular workout. This is what explains its high popularity as a fitness activity. With all the fun, you even forget about the fact that you are actually working out.

K.A.R.M.A. of Phone Prospecting

Monday, November 19th, 2007

Do you ever wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Does the rest of the day just follow suit? Have you ever thought that your attitude towards the day might just be coming back to you through misfortunes and bad things through out the day?

Well it happens and it is called KARMA.

KARMA is defined as if you put a negative out there it will come back to you in the form of another negative. So you could say you get back what you put out there.

So lets relate that to your calling of leads.

If you put out a negative presentation you get back a negative result commonly phrased as “I am not interested”, “Is this a pyramid scheme”, “Is this MLM”, or “does this cost anything”. So how do you create a positive presentation in order to get back a positive result?

Let call the process of creating an effective phone presentation the K.A.R.M.A. of Phone Presentations.

KNOWLEDGE of the industry is the first thing you need to consider when putting together your presentation. You see if your prospect doesn’t have a basic understanding of the MLM business model it will be virtually impossible to develop a successful downline partner. You need to be sure they have an understanding before you can expect them to be productive in your downline. The best way to find this out is to ask early on in your conversation if they could define MLM or Network Marketing.

ACTION step is required at this point. You need to go one of two ways. If they understand MLM or Network Marketing you can move onto the next step. If they don’t understand the industry your best move is to educate them before you move into any kind of presentation of your company or product. Make sure you have some websites or emails that you can send them in order to educate them about the industry. Wouldn’t you agree that if you were going to start a restaurant business you ought to know something about the industry? So why should it be any different in our industry? Once you provide education for them then you can follow up with them and move onto the next step.

REASONS for each person vary. But as you and I both know there are several reasons that are common and it is important that you begin to find out why they want to start a home-based business. This will begin to make a connection between you and the prospect. You may even find out that you have the same reason as your prospect. This stage is really a stage where you get to know the person. Be sure to NOT ask how much time and money they have to invest when getting to know them.

MATCHING the prospect to your business is the next stage of an effective presentation. Use what you have learned about your prospect and create a bridge between where they are today and your opportunity. Let them know with confidence that with all you know about them at this point you feel your company is a great match for them and it would be worth it to take a closer look.

ACTION time is again upon you. You must now give them the next step in the exploring process. Your company most likely has a process laid out for you whether it is to do a 3-way call with your upline, connect them to a live presentation, or simply send them to your website for more information.

Follow the K.A.R.M.A. presentation and you will be on your way to getting the positive results you desire when calling your leads.

Make it the Best Day Yet,
