It would be hard to believe that anybody reading this article
has never heard of Vans. The name is symbiosis (connection with)
BMX biking, skateboarding and other extreme sports. I bought a
pair of Vans shoes 3 years ago and I still use them. I like to
wear them when I ride my BMX bike on the hot black asphalt slab
scuffing like a madman trying to land that same flatland trick.
The Vans seem to hook easier to the tire when scuffing compared
to my other biking shoes. The Vans Shoe company has been around
a long time so we did some research on the company.

Here are some of the facts of Vans. The California based company
opened their first skatepark in the Midwest. It is a 53,000
square foot indoor and outdoor located in Novi, Michigan
(Detroit). Other Vans skateparks include cities Moorestown, NJ,
Woodbridge, VA, Buford, GA, Houston, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Orange,
CA, Milpitas, CA and Westminster, CO. Some of Van’s top
professional riders include Tony Alva, Omar Hassan and Salman
Agah for skateboarding and for BMX riders T.J. Lavin and Heath
Pinter. It is a known fact they hold some major contests such as
the Vans Triple Crown. But something that was just started is
the Annual Mountain Dew Free Flow Tour. The tour travels across
the nation holding amateur skateboarding contests. This tour is
dedicated only to the amateur skateboarder.

The company has done a lot to give back to the consumer of Vans
products. You can check out Van’s product line by clicking on

tips on how to plant herbs in your garden

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Herbs have been around since time immemorial and served
different kinds of purposes. They have been used to treat
illness and flavour cooking; they were even believed to have
magical powers. Do you want to have your own herb garden? Here
are a few ideas on how to establish an herb garden.Plan your
garden.Consider the herbs you want to plant. Think about their
types. Would you like annuals, biennials or perennials? How much
space will they occupy in your garden? If you want, you can
purchase a book that can give you the right information on what
specific plants you are planning to grow. List or draw your
garden on paper first. Separate the annuals from the perennials
so when the time comes that you have to pull out the annuals,
you won’t be disturbing the perennials. Perennials can be
planted on the edge of your garden so when it is time to till
your garden they won’t be in danger of getting dug up. Another
thing to remember is that you have to plant the tall ones at the
back and the shorter ones in front. Also, provide your plants
with enough space to grow. Proper position shall help you in
this area. If you would rather keep herbs out of your garden
(and some are quite invasive) you could have herb pots. These
are large containers with three or more outlets for the herbs.
Fill the pot up to the first outlet and plant it before
continuing on with the filling and planting process. Usually,
the herb that requires the most water is planted in the bottom
hole, while the variety that requires the least, goes in the
highest hole. Some Design IdeasYou can consider having a square
herb bed. You can have your square bed divided into four by two
paths crossing at mid point measuring 3 feet. You can border it
with stone or brick. A wooden ladder may also do the trick. You
can lay it down on your garden and plant your herbs between its
rungs. You can also choose to have a wagon wheel bed. Planting
here is like planting with the wooden ladders. Plant your herbs
in between the wagon wheel’s wedges. Get Your Plants GrowingOf
course, different plants have different needs, but many of them
require alkaline soil. This is the reason why you have to
determine the herbs you want to plant in the planning stage.
This can more or less help you find out how you should care for
your plants. If you germinate your herbs from seeds, remember to
follow the directions on the packet for soil, watering and
temperature. Herbs are some of the easiest plants to grow. You
just have to provide them with an effective drainage, sunlight,
enough humidity or moisture and fertile soil. Even with just
minimally meeting these requirements they will be bound produce
a good harvest. for similar / related articles, please visit href

Conflict, Leadership And The Leadership Talk

Conflict comes with leadership as the sparks fly upward. If you don’t want to deal with conflict, leadership is not your thing.

Being a leader is not about IF you will tackle conflict but HOW. In fact, no other ability (other than being able to get results) so shapes people’s careers as the ability to deal with conflict.

Conflict and leadership go hand-in-hand because leadership involves challenging people often to do what they don’t want to do. If people did what they wanted, leaders wouldn’t be necessary. Great results don’t drop like manna from heaven. Achieving them involves people having to get out of their comfort zones, make troublesome decisions, and engage in disconcerting new actions. Leadership helps guide and motivate people to do those things.

There are countless books, articles, etc. devoted to conflict resolution. But let me give you one tool that I’ve been teaching leaders of all ranks and functions worldwide for more than 22 years. It’s the Leadership Talk.

Because the Leadership Talk is results-oriented and deals with fundamental human dynamics, it can be an unmatched way to help you deal with the inevitable conflicts you’ll face.

(The many books and many other articles I’ve written on the Leadership Talk can be seen on my website.)

Here are the three essentials you must adhere to in dealing with conflicts and how the Leadership Talk can help you manifest those essentials.

1. Establish a deep, human, emotional connection with the people you’re dealing with. When in conflict, keep in mind that the message is not just the message, the message is the messenger. HOW you deal with conflict and WHO you are in dealing with the conflict are as important, if not more, than WHAT the conflict is. Abraham Lincoln explained the importance of HOW and WHO: “If you would win a man to your cause, first convince him that you are his sincere friend … Assume to dictate to his judgment, or to command his action, or to mark him as one to be shunned and despised, and he will retreat within himself, close all the avenues to his head and his heart; and tho’ your cause be naked truth itself … you shall no more be able to reach him than to penetrate the hard shell of the tortoise with a rye straw.”

The Leadership Talk helps you deal with not only the WHAT of the conflict but also the HOW. It is a clear, practical pathway to winning the hearts of the people you are in conflict with simply because its driving principle is Lincoln’s imperative of convincing the other side of your good will and sincerity.

2. Be guided by and empowered through process. It’s important for your career to have a simple, clear conflict-resolution process to guide your thoughts, speech, and actions. You may not follow it exactly in every case, but it can help you better deal with the countless varieties of conflicts that you’ll come to face.

The Leadership Talk is a powerful conflict resolution process because it engages the human aspects in practical, structured ways. For instance, one of its processes it called the Three-trigger Motivational Process. When you face conflict, you should ask three questions. If you say “no” to your answer to any one of those questions, you can’t give a Leadership Talk. The questions are: 1. Do you know what the audience needs? 2. Can you bring deep belief to what you’re saying? 3. Can you have the audience take action?

3. Stay focused on results. Since leaders do nothing more important than get results, the fruits of how we deal with conflict should be evaluated by whether we are obstructing or promoting results.

In leadership, it’s not enough to resolve conflicts, we must also in the process achieve increases in results. Forget about trying to achieve “win/win.” That can be a tender trap. In fact, in many cases, a win/win objective might impede results by keeping people from going to the next step, the results-generating step.

The Leadership Talk sees conflicts you are engaged in terms not simply of conflict resolution but results generation. Furthermore, its focus is not just about achieving ordinary results but more results, faster results on a continual basis.

Since conflict will always be with you as a leader, you should welcome it as an opportunity to get increases in results. When you’re using Leadership Talks, you’ll find yourself getting those results consistently.

Stock Market Tips

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

The stock markets are at all time highs and just like the last time around when the market was at its previous high every one thinks that nothing can go wrong and there is just one way where the market can go which is UP.
Nothing could be farther from the truth and this will be clear from the way the market behaves in the next few months. Here are a few tips that would hopefully save you from losing a lot of cash in the current frenzy.

Time and again investors have burnt their fingers in the markets and here are some tips to you so that you do not end up burning your fingers in this market.

The number one tip at this point would be to sell if you have stocks and not to buy them if you have cash. The golden principle in the markets is “Buy when everyone else sells and sell when everyone else buys”. Simple enough right? Not really. Why? Because of peer pressure pure and simple. When everyone else around you seems to be having a ball at the markets you would feel like a fool if you didn’t participate now.

OK so you can’t resist buying at this time then at least do yourself a favor and stay away from unknown Penny Stock and hot tips that your barber gave you. True that the stock has tripled in the last fifteen days but that was before people like your barber started buying the stock. Chances are that the Promoter of the company have started buying into the stock and have spread rumors like acquisition or a big export order to fool investors and sell out to them at a later date.

Another tip that would serve useful is to value a stock based on its future growth and not its past performance. For instance many investors say that I will not buy stocks of X company because it has doubled in the last year. Well it may have doubled in the last year but that should not be the thing you should be telling yourself. Rather you should ask yourself why has this doubled in the last year and can it do so again? There should be a solid answer to your question like the launch of a new product or reduction in the prices of raw material. And indeed if the answer is in the positive then by all means go ahead and buy that stock regardless of what has happened in the last year.

Another tip would be to remember what you are buying. Quite simply investors often forget that when buying a stock they are simply buying ownership in the companies. Most of you would know that nothing spectacular would happen in the company that you work for, in a month, they are not going to double their revenues and certainly not double your salary every month. Then why expect anything different from the companies that you are investing in. Why expect the prices to double in a month or two. Give time to your investments; don’t reduce it to a gamble. Only when you invest in fundamentally sound companies and then give the investments sufficient time to grow will you see some healthy returns on your investments. Ideally a minimum horizon of one year is a good time.

Hope these tips will prove helpful and you will make a lot more in the stock markets than you have already been making. Happy Investing!

Research Haulers before you choose a transport company to ship your Car, Boat, Horse, Furniture, etc

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

When you are having your valued items shipped, it is important
to find the best hauler for job, not necessarily the cheapest.
Customer service, reliability, and trustworthiness are all
important factors in choosing a transport company. An
unscrupulous trucker can cost you money, damage your property,
and cause you a hard time.

Recommended Steps to take before hiring a transport company:

- Ask Questions - When you first contact a hauler, you should
ask as many relevant questions as you can regarding the care
they will take with your property, scheduling, contract issues,
what type of equipment they have, licensing, insurance, and take
some time to get a feel for the type of people you are dealing
with. The vast majority of truckers / haulers are reputable
business people that simply want to help you, the best way to
weed out the few that aren’t is in this first stage. - Get
References - Most haulers should be prepared to provide you with
several references in regards to RECENT jobs they have done. If
time allows try to contact every reference and ask questions
regarding the type of service they received from their hauler.
Remember, that no one is perfect all of the time, so if there
are any less than perfect reviews, follow up with a question to
see how the hauler resolved the issue.

Sample questions to ask provided references: - What did you have
__(company name)___ haul? - When did they haul it? - Did they
keep you well informed of their pickup / delivery schedule? -
How well did they keep their original promised schedule? - Did
they take good care of your (car, boat, horse, furniture,
etc..)? - If any problems occurred, how did the hauler resolve
them? - How would you rate your overall experience with this
hauler? - Would your recommend this hauler to others?

Use the above questions in an e-mail or as a template for a
phone conversation with the provided references, and you will
have a very good idea of what to expect when you use the hauler
yourself.

- Check Licensing - Your hauler should be able to provide you
with his DOT number, and MC, Number. You can check the validity
of their DOT number at the FMCA website:
http://li-public.fmcsa.dot.gov/LIVIEW/pkg_carrquery.prc_carrlist
- A DOT license lets you know that the hauler has filed the
proper paperwork and pays the proper taxes and fees when hauling
your items.

- Check Insurance - It’s important for you to know that your
carrier has adequate insurance to cover potential damage to your
property. If you choose an uninsured or underinsured transport
company you risk not being compensated for loss or damage of
your (car, boat, horse, furniture, etc..).

- Check FindAHauler Profile - If your hauler has a profile in
the FindAHauler.com Directory: http://FindAHauler.com/directory/
you can view any feedback left regarding the hauler by other
visitors to the site.

- Read contracts carefully - Many haulers will have you execute
a transport contract prior to hauling your (car, boat, horse,
furniture, etc..). Make sure that you read the contract and
understand the provisions of the contract. If there is a down
payment required, make sure you know the conditions under which
it will or won’t be refunded. Is the down payment due prior to
the pickup of your property, when is the full payment due?. It
is generally not advisable to pay a down payment prior to pickup
of your property. If it is practical, you may want to negotiate
the full payment upon delivery of your property.

If you follow the above advice, you should have an easy and
stress free experience having your car, boat, horse, furniture,
etc… transported. Thousands of people have had their cars,
horse, boats, trailers, livestock, etc… shipped using
FindAHauler.com since September of 2002, and it is very rare for
any of them to have a problem with a hauler they have found
using our site. We have a very aggressive stance on any users of
our site not operating in an ethical and straightforward manner,
and do our best to provide an easy and safe environment for all.
