The Era of Internet Advertising in the Market

Friday, March 28th, 2008

The Internet is an interactive and versatile platform and offers
rich consumer usage data. Internet users consider internet
advertising to be the most relevant ad format. The internet
evolved as a medium for marketing and advertising since 1994.

>From then, it has evolved into so many phases with its own
record highs and lows. Online internet businesses are now at a
record high with different niches catering to any needs. While
the competition is now scorching, people are looking and
devising ways to edge out the competition. And just like any
business, advertising is a must and a growing industry.

The internet is different from the usual advertising media in
many aspects. First it serves not only as a communication
channel but also a distribution and transaction channel. Clients
can make purchases and payments through internet. They can also
get lots of information.

The world of Internet Advertising is quite new, complex and
often difficult to comprehend. Internet advertising is the most
important component to make your web site effective. Advertisers
can improve their ad target ability to achieve better results.

No other medium can carry out these marketing functions right
away without resorting to other means. Second, internet by
nature is interactive. Users can easily shop just by visiting a
web site and by clicking the hyper-linked for added information.
It is a two-way communication, with the internet serving as a
provider of customized content that meets an individual’s needs.
Third, internet has the capacity for multimedia substance.

It can carry not just text and graphics but also audio and video
content. The multimedia environment of the internet is
appropriate for high-impact advertising. The internet become an
integral part of the media mix for many advertisers, and new
types of advertising have filled the world wide web landscape
including animated banner ads, sponsor logos, interstitials,
advertorials, advertainment and 3-D visualization.

Net Worth Nympho

Friday, March 28th, 2008

There are plenty of people who are in love with their bank books. In life, there will always be extremists.

None so extreme as the ‘Net Worth Nympho’s’, who can check their bank account or investment balances 24/7 via their cell phone, computer, PDA, or absolute worse case scenario ‘telephone banking’!

Technology has permitted the former check book fanatic, to now live, eat, and breathe their finances in millisecond, real time, ESPN style coverage. You may have met this type of person; you might even see them every morning when you are brushing your teeth.

So when does obsessing over ones assets cross the line, between a little excessive compulsive, and truly becoming a behavior that deviates from what society finds acceptable?

Well, first off who cares what society thinks?

What we are talking about here is addiction, plain and simple. Just like a nymphomaniac is addicted to sex, many, many people have become addicted to money.

You would be surprised how many people are out there. The X-Korn guitarist admitted being addicted to money, Millard Fuller the founder of Habitat for Humanity, rapper Chuck D, and even the recent eBay scammer Charles Stergois, sentenced to six years in prison, admitted he was indeed addicted to money.

There is a very clear difference between success and wealth.

Although they often go hand in hand, I think many people get their wires crossed, and allow reality to slip away.

The main stream media certainly hasn’t helped, and advertising today would challenge almost anyone’s psyche to believe we should all be driving Mercedes’ Benz.

Most people can tell the difference between right and wrong, but often in one’s pursuit of success they can start to focus on the wrong things.

You may need help if:

1. Your obsession with money is affecting your work, family life or relationships.

2. You have lost your ability to concentrate, as your thoughts always veer back to your account balances, real estate portfolio or stock account.

3. You spend too much time or money online in search of your financial fix.

4. You are going into too much debt in pursuit of increasing your net worth.

5. Someone close to you tells you there is a problem.

6. You are lying or denying, to your loved ones or yourself, to cover up your financial activities.

If this is you, or someone you know, please seek out expert assistance. In the USA, we would highly recommend visiting a professional like Heiko Ganzer of Money Addicitions of America (www.heiko.com)or someone equally as qualified. In Canada, the Center for Addiction & Mental Health’s website (www.camh.net) is a great start to find help. The internet may be part of the problem, but it also may become the greatest resource to find healing.

So, if it becomes an investment statement, bank account, or real estate portfolio that makes you feel successful, then that is absolutely fantastic. Keep up the great work, and enjoy your wealth to the fullest.

Just don’t forget to focus on the other areas of your life that have been with you through thick and thin.

Consider this… “You can’t take it with you when you’re GONE!”

Avoid Work at Home Scams

Friday, March 28th, 2008

Be choosy when applying for work-at home jobs. As you probably
know, there are plenty of scams out there. The following are
some guidelines you should use when deciding on whether to apply
to certain work at home jobs. I hope this article empowers you.

Don’t pay

You shouldn’t have to pay to work. Some sites offer you a list
of work-at-home jobs for a fee. There is so much free
information available on the web that you should not have to
pay. You are looking for work because you need money. Limit your
spending! There are jobs that require you to buy specialized
equipment, such as a foot pedal to take transcription or a
headphone for a phone. Some work-at-home jobs require you to
have a high speed connection instead of a dial-up connection.
These are legitimate requests, and if you buy these products or
services you should be confident that you will make enough money
to cover the cost of doing business and make a profit.

Be Careful of Working for Individuals

There are good people out there who need extra help and would be
interested in hiring you. But it’s best to avoid working for
individuals you have met on the Internet. The main concern is
that to legally work in the United States, you will need to
report your income to the IRS. An individual who hires you will
ask for your social security number and other personal
information for income tax purposes. A dishonest person would
have the perfect opportunity to steal your identity and your
money. Legitimate companies will ask you to fill out a form, for
example, a W-9 form, for taxes. I’ve filled out W-9 forms from
bona fide companies and have had no problem. I’ve also had an
individual ask me to e-mail my social security number without a
W-9 form. That raised a red flag, and I’m glad that I refused to
work for him. I didn’t give him my social security number. I’m
not saying that you should never work for individuals, just be
extra careful if you are new to consulting or working from home.

Be Wary of Jobs that Tout Easy Money

Working from home is rarely easy money. It’s work. Your work can
be enjoyable, but all of your financial problems will not be
solved in a week. Be wary of any company or individuals,
claiming that you can get easy money quickly.

Don’t Wire Money

Never wire money to the company. It’s too easy to lose your
money or get caught up in a scam. If the company asks you to
wire money to any other company or individual, don’t do it. Be
safe. Don’t be sorry.

Research the Company

Always check the company’s standing with the Better Business
Bureau (http://www.bbb.org). Not all scam-jobs are listed with
the Better Business Bureau, but the organization may have
received reports from others who were victimized.

You should also check out the company with the Rip Off Report
(http://www.ripoffreport.com/default.asp). You can search
through thousands of reports to find out if the company that you
would like to work for is listed. You can also file a report if
you are scammed.

Gain (Gator) - The Virus

Friday, March 28th, 2008

It just amazes me how there are companies out there, claiming to be legitimate businesses, who are distributing what can only be known as spyware, adware, malware, badware, and viruses. These companies get away with it due to obscure clauses and legal double-speak in their terms of agreements, if they bother to have one at all.

Some websites will download unwanted spyware and badware on your computer without any consent from you at all. They claim that all of this information gathering has a legitimate purpose and that people are over-reacting.

Some people do not know what a virus is. It is simply a program. Just like any other program you download and use everyday. It must be installed onto your computer. The difference between a virus and a legitimate program lies in the purpose for which it was created.

A legitimate program was created to help you perform a task. A virus was created to harm your computer or steal information from you. The other difference is the first one is legal, the latter is not.

A virus is legitimately defined as an executable program, however, any script or macro should be included in that definition in my opinion. If they are written with the intent of causing harm to a user’s computer or they are written and installed on a user’s computer in order to gather information on that user, then they are no better and no different than a virus, and should fall under the same laws that apply to viruses.

If these programs like GAIN, Gator, and WinFixer are so legitimate, why are the techniques they use to install it on a user’s computer so sly? Why are they using these sneaky tactics, such as downloading it onto someone’s computer without disclosing what it actually is to the user in a clear manner?

Why do they write their malware, badware, and adware in such a way as to have it resist your efforts to remove it from your computer? Your computer is something you bought and paid for. You have the right to decide what will be installed on your computer. Anyone who writes a program that resists your ability to choose to remove it is a violation of your rights.

Our elected officials don’t know how to surf the web for the most part, let alone actually understand what the definition of a virus is and how to legislate against spyware and malware. Software companies who write legitimate programs lobby them to make sure they do not pass any laws that regulate the sale of software.

Example: Name any other product or service where you must pay up front for it before you even see the contract you must sign and agree to before you can use it?

Not only that, but large corporations support the use of malware, adware, spyware, badware, and viruses that gather information from users without their knowledge. They in turn buy that information to build their own consumer databases and use that information to sell you products. They pay to know what your habits are. As long as they are willing to pay for that information, companies like GAIN will continue to steal it from user’s and sell it to these companies.

If you want to know how many programs on your computer are gathering information about you, you will need to get some type of spyware detection software. There are several available, however, be careful, some of those advertising the removal of spyware are actually installing it on your computer themselves. Make sure you do a search in your favorite search engine to find out about the brand of software you are thinking of downloading.

If your computer is infected with Gator or GAIN, you may have to use anti-virus software to remove it. Many of the anti-virus companies have removal instructions on their website. If GAIN were a legitimate company and legitimate software, it’s highly doubtful it would have to be removed by an anti-virus program.

I hope this article has been helpful to you. GAIN, WinFixer, and other programs that act in this unethical manner should be considered viruses and held accountable for the harm they do to your computer and liable for the time it takes to remove them. That’s my opinion.

Cockatiel Illnesses

Cockatiel Illnesses

Cockatiels are one of the most lovable pets in the world. They are a valuable treasure to the owner. Cockatiels, just like humans, need a lot of attention and care. Parrots as pets are delightful but they can become extremely moody and temperamental. This may also depend on its health and diet.

Good cockatiel care involves not only regulation of diet but also of hygiene and cleanliness. Cockatiels, like most of its cousins in the parrot kingdom, are prone to some typical illnesses. Unfortunately, many are fatal and result in death even before the malady is diagnosed. As a result, cockatiels should always be kept under close supervision.

A wise owner of cockatiels is one who is aware of common cockatiel illnesses so that he/she can at least try and help. Many maladies are airborne and they set in even before you realize. It is advisable to seek professional advice whenever you suspect a crisis.

Some of the common illnesses are:

Pacheco’s Virus - It is easy to diagnose your cockatiel if Pacheco’s Virus infects it. The bird needs to be administered a strong oral dose of Zovirax medication. Vaccines are easily available for this disease, but they can bring about tumors and carriers. Evidence shows that parrots are likely to die shortly after inoculation.

Polyomavirus - Polyomavirus largely attacks the young ones. This virus is again air-borne and complicated to control. Look for clinical warning signs like depression, delayed crop emptying, anorexia, diarrhea, regurgitation and weight loss in parrots.

Beak and Feather Syndrome - Spread by feather dust and dried feces, parrots infected with PBFDS show abnormal growth of new feathers. The new-fanged shafts look as if swollen and gnarled. Another type of PBFDS symptom that is quite prevalent is growth abnormality of the beak. There is currently no known cure for this disease.

Wasting Disease - A highly contagious disease Wasting Disease is not as fast in opening out as Pacheco’s. Wasting Diseases are hard to reckon since they lie dormant for years, until hosts are on a move. Studies on parrot show Wasting Diseases have a severe effect on nervous systems extended to all of the major organs, triggering seizures, paralysis, and tremors, and also heart attacks. There is no known medication available for Wasting Disease, but changing the food patterns of the parrots by including easily digestible diet supplements may prolong the life of a victim.

Papilloma - Appearing primarily in the throat or vent areas, papilloma is caused by a virus infection similar to warts. It grows large enough to block the vent, making it difficult or even impossible for the host to defecate. Parrots diagnosed of Papilloma can be cured after successful laser surgery.

Psittacosis - Psittacosis is another most dreaded bacterial infection that commonly occurs in the cockatiels and is transmitted via feather dust and dried feces.

E-coli - This bacterium is not so lethal if it is acknowledged and treated at initial stages. In fact, when cockatiels are diagnosed of having Ecoli their droppings usually have the appearance of diarrhea, giving out strong odor.

Gout - Calcification of the kidneys among the parrots is common especially among the babies who are aged 4-8 weeks. In such cases, victims rarely survive. Initially they show regurgitating and slight dehydration after feedings. In addition, babies who appear slightly smaller than their regular sizes, with protruding neck bone have the largest possibility of incurring Gout.

Runny Nose or Nasal Discharge - The most common of all nasal discharge is laxity of Vitamin-A in cockatiels. This deficiency can be corrected by increasing the food quantities that are rich in vitamins and mineral contents especially.

How to Remove Sticky Labels from New Clothing

How to Remove Sticky Labels from New Clothing (Quickly and
Easily!)

by LeAnn R. Ralph

I recently acquired three new pairs of jeans. This particular
brand (Field & Forest) came with a long label pasted down the
back of one leg.

I tried and tried to peel the label off, but all that happened
was small pieces of it broke off. The majority of the label
remained stubbornly stuck to the pants.

“I can’t wear them that way!” I said to myself.

Then I remembered that non-aerosol hairspray removes ink from
clothing. It is not necessarily the hairspray that works, I
know, it’s the alcohol. I keep a spray bottle of ordinary
rubbing alcohol in the bathroom to clean the faucets and the
toilet and my eyeglasses, and I wondered if the alcohol would
work on labels.

I retrieved the alcohol from the bathroom, sprayed the label on
one new pair of jeans, waited a minute or two, got a paring
knife out of the drawer in the kitchen — and presto! The label
peeled off so quickly and easily, I could hardly believe it. The
alcohol dried in 10 minutes, and I was able to wear my new pair
of jeans.

To remove a sticky label that refuses to peel off a new piece of
clothing, try this:

1. Spray the label with ordinary rubbing alcohol, or, if you
don’t have any rubbing alcohol, use non-aerosol hairspray.

2. Wait a minute or two.

3. Gently scrape the label off the clothing with a paring knife,
a butter knife or another straight edge, such as a credit card
or a ruler.

4. Wait 5 or 10 minutes for the alcohol to dry — and you’re on
your way!
