“Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.
Indeed, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Andrew Brash with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Min Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. This season French climber Anthony Loeff is reporting the scales for Chomolungma after reaching the peak of earlier this year.
They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”
“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on Mount Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Mt Everest is shared by two countries. Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.
As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Chomolungma or Mount Everest, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over the Mount Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Now that Bahadur Sherchan has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. His first found him within 243 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. later, Andrew Brash, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to Mount Everest to finish what he had started.
Bahadur Sherchan returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Chomolungma or Mount Everest. Man from Nepal, 74, oldest mountaineer to reach the top of Everest With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Min Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. Min Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”
Sherchan just 20 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.
The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Mt Everest. More than 3291 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.
Nevertheless, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Chomolungma could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused

Media has the power to model personalities, to shape the way we see and understand the world and the immediate reality. As grown-ups we can easily choose what we want to hear, read or see; we can also choose what to believe. And it’s a lot to choose from: newspapers and magazines, music and radio, television and movies, Internet and much more. While we can control our actions, yet we cannot control the media, what we hear and see may not be good for our children especially for those under the age of six.
Media is everywhere, it is a normal part of life. Many families cannot conceive an existence without a TV, radio or newspapers. More and more people depend on the Internet to read the news, gather information and download music and movies, to have fun and to work. This is the world we choose to live in. Let’s ensure we make the right choices for our children.
Children can see in the media sexual and violence related images; can hear “bad” words and mimic improper poses. Statistic children watching TV tend to act aggressively. Recently even obesity is added to the list of the consequences and there’s no wonder since watching TV means less physical exercise. Besides, media, while emphasizing the importance of eating and living healthy, still advertises for junk food, alcohol and tobacco. Although there are many laws stipulating what type of programs and commercials are proper for kids, they are often ignored. Parents and child-care providers should make all efforts to protect kids from undesirable media.
As already stated, you cannot control the media. Yet you can control what infants and children under the age of six see and hear, at least when you are around. Here are a few “must take” actions:
Watch TV and movies with your kids and make sure these programs are suitable for their age; - Know the content of a TV program before allowing your children to watch it; - Listen to the music they listen to and make sure the lyrics are appropriate; - Do not allow your kids to surf the web alone! - Limit the TV watching time, not more than two hours of quality programs per day. Children under the age of 2 should not watch TV, unless it’s for educational purposes. Don’t let your kids just hang in front of a TV just because you do not have enough time to take care of them! - Do not let newspapers and magazines lay all over the place, especially if they have violent or sex related images and headlines.
School-aged kids are more exposed to the media than children under the age of six. In addition, friends might influence them. There’s not too much you can do, except talking and using modern technology on your TV and computer to prevent the children from seeing certain websites and programs. Yet none of these programs are infallible.
The best you can do is to honestly explain to your children what sex really is and how to prevent undesired consequences (pregnancy, disease), why alcohol and cigarettes are not healthy, how junk food interacts, sooner or later, with their metabolism.
And maybe you should approach the “everyone does it” topic from a unique point of view: “that’s exactly why you should not do it”. Make your kids understand uniqueness is special.

Everyone is looking for information! Information is the number one product to sell on the net…
How many times have you heard this?
Merely writing a book or gathering together a number of affiliate products to sell from your site then declaring you are in business does not always equate to “following the yellow brick road” to fame and fortune as many would have you believe.
The internet is for the true entreprenuers and not for people wishing to make money fast (although this can happen), but for the majority, it is for people who are willing to keep trying until they make it work for them.
The people who dream and wish for “easy street” on the net are the ones falling by the wayside declaring the internet does not work,along with those who have invested everything into earning a living from the net with disregarded for how long it may actually take to get established especially if they started in business with very little capital.
Developing and running a web based business requires dedication, determination and a commitment to making it work. Like any offline business there is no easy road and your business will only be as good as the time and effort you put into it for achieving the same outstanding success that others have already achieved.
It is a well known that in offline business many new startup ventures fail withing the first two to five years, on the net if you try “putting all your eggs in the internet basket” without thought or planning you may fail to achieve your goals.
To be a success you need to plan for success. Business planning takes on a new dimension with the international scope that the average home business can now achieve. There are many people offering solutions to solve problems as to why your business may be failing to live up to your expectations.
Unfortunately, there are no magic formulas for instant success no matter how much people may try to convince you otherwise.
While it is a good idea to learn from others who have gone before you to avoid the pitfalls they have encountered it is wise to use good judgement about any information that may influence you or your decisions. I apply the following formula to everything I read asking myself the following questions:
1. Is the writer a recognized authority on the subject covered?
2. Did the writer have a motive in writing the book other than imparting accurate information? what is the motive?
3. Does the writer have a profit interest in the subject covered?
4. Are there easily accesible sources to check and verify the writers statements?
5. Do the writers statements harmonise with my own common sense and experience?
The habit of believing something on the basis of little or no evidence is a major human fault to be avoided especially with the over abundance of information that is so readily available.
Success is always an internal thing and external trappings are symbols of what has first taken place at an internal level. If you really want your business, either offline or online, to be a success you will always find a way to make it work. With motivation and a big enough reason you become unstoppable.
Goals are what you want, outcomes are what you create. Setting outcomes is the key to taking your insights and resources, forming a plan of action and setting out to achieve what you truly want.
Some common areas that prevent people from succeeding are:
1. Inability to manage their finances well.
2. Making bad choices for themselves.
3. Being incapable of taking personal responsibility for their life or their actions (or inactions).
4. They do not know how to set outcomes for creating what they want.
5. They are lazy and would rather procrasinate than take the necessary action to ensure success.
Unless you act, outcomes remain nothing more than dreams. It is like the person who say’s “I am a writer” but never actually writes or completes any writing projects they have undertaken. There are also people you simply love the idea of an interenet business but are not prepared to follow through with all that will be required for them to turn ideas into financial profits.
There is a saying “the past does not equal the future” Determine what it is you truly want and where you are going then you will be truly unstoppable with the biggest success stories yet to happen in such young internet business environment.

It seems like these days, there are a million and one different cellular phones and service plans on the market all claiming to be the BEST. How in world do you decide on which one to signup with?
Many people sign up for a $60 a month service plan, but only end up using about 20% of the allocated minutes! Others, sign up for “across the country” plans costing $150 a month, but rarely travel outside their own state!!
Today, you can typically find quite a number of local providers offering a wide variety of services to both individuals and businesses alike. Here are some tips to help you make the most of your cellular phone experience.
*MOST IMPORTANT: Talk To Your Friends & Neighbors
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The most valuable advice that mostly everyone forgets to take into consideration is the “friend factor”.
More than likely, you have a few friends, family members, neighbors who have cellular phones. The best way to learn about their particular phone and service provider is to simply ask them. Within minutes, you can find out how well they like their phone, service provider, and most importantly - the reception and clarity of calls.
Reception is THE MOST IMPORTANT factor to consider. For those of you familiar with cell phone static, garbled noise, echoing voices, and dropped calls, I think you’ll agree these annoyances will make your cell phone experience miserable.
EVEN IF you have the BEST phone, with the MOST minutes, for the CHEAPEST price, if you are NOT with a company that provides a solid clear reception for both incoming and outgoing calls, you will be VERY disappointed and angry since you probably signed a 1-2 year contract.
Take my word for it. I have been with four different service providers over the past five years and the ONLY reason I kept switching was due to my unsatisfaction with the reception. It wasn’t due to a lack of phone features, or even minutes provided, that can always be adjusted later or solved with the purchase of a higher end, more expensive phone. It ALL came down to the clarity of my cell phone calls, both incoming and outgoing.
Trust me, the first time you can’t understand, or unexpectantly lose an important phone call, you’ll remember this article and say “That guy from SavingSecrets.com told me about this!”
What can you do to educate yourself about cellular service? Talk to anyone you know who owns a cell phone. This is my best advice. Simply approach this topic by saying:
“Hey, I’m planning on getting a cell phone soon, but I’m a little unsure of which service provider to sign up with. There are so many options out there, I want to make sure I do my research before signing a lengthy contract. Could you tell me a little about your phone and service provider, and please be brutally honest.”
Then, just make sure you ask these type of questions:
-How do you like your particular phone?
-What are the costs/plan/minutes provided?
-Who is your service provider?
-Do you have clarity issues ie: alot of static, echoing noise, call drops?
-What are the pros and cons, in your opinion?
Personally, I recommend speaking to at least ten different people so you not only hear different opinions, but you can compare notes and see if you can find any consistencies amongst phones/providers.
CHOOSING SERVICE
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before you decide on a company/policy that best suits your needs, you MUST determine what type of cell phone ‘user’ you’ll be. This will save you money month after month.
Take a moment to reflect on when you will be using your phone the most. Is your cell phone for business purposes? For personal use? Just on the weekends? What time of the day will you use the phone most?
Know the answers to these questions before signing any type of cellular phone service agreement. It will help guarantee you get the best deal for your money.
Other important information to know:
- Monthly Service Charge
- Number of Minutes Included in Plan
- Type of “FREE” minutes- weekend or anytime
- Per Minute Charge: Peek, Off Peak, Weekend
- Local Coverage Area
- Long Distance Charges
- Roaming Charges (when out of your designated calling area)
WHAT PHONE TO GET?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This question can only be answered by you. Do you really NEED a cell phone that can play games, store thousands of names and numbers, and get the latest sports scores?
If you just want a cell phone to make occasional phone calls, you can probably settle for a $30-50 phone. Better yet, most carriers offer FREE phones with the signing of a service agreement (generally 1-2 years).
IMPORTANT - Make sure you try out the phone before you buy it. This is your chance to test the product. Is it too small? Are the buttons a good size for you fingers? How’s the clarity? etc. . .
Every service provider will let you make a call on the phone you’re interested in buying. Try, before you buy! And don’t just stand in the storeroom. *Make sure you ask first*, but walk around outside, go into a neighboring store, get in your car. Did the signal stay strong?
Also, have a friend call you on the phone so you can check how an incoming call sounds. If possible, have a friend call you from a cell phone to check what a cell-to-cell call sounds like.
ALREADY HAVE A CELL PHONE?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Analyze the bill over the past two or three months. Do you see a calling pattern? When do you call more during the week or on weekends?
Write down an estimate of the hours you spend during peek (7am-7pm), off peak (7pm-7am) and weekend hours (Fri 12am-Sun 12am). Once you have an idea of when you spend your time on the phone, you can then speak with a service representative about changing to a plan that might better fit your needs.
If you did happen to sign a 1-2 year contract, ask what type of switching/changing options you have. Remember to be courteous and nice. It will not help to start shouting and screaming because then the representatives will not be inclined to help you. They’ll simply say “You signed the contract.”
Just politely state: “I am happy with your service and would like to remain your faithful customer, but I need have something adjusted that will better suit my calling habits….”
CONCLUSION
~~~~~~~~~~~
The best advice to give to cell phone users is to educate yourself as much as possible. Find out what services are offered in your area. TALK TO people you know who have cell phones and ASK them what they think of their service. You’ll be able to tell right away if they are ‘happy’ or ‘frustrated’ with their cellular service.
*NOTE* Just BE SURE you do NOT sign any contract until you have carefully thought and read through everything.
There are variety uses of protein. Many vegetarian people crave for protein because it is hardly included in their diet. Protein constitutes as one of the components of balanced diets. Proteins help to built muscles and relaxation of muscles used to produce amino acids which help in building and repairing of muscles, mending blood, skin and organs. Proteins also help in clotting of blood during injuries. Proteins can be found in nuts like almond, peanuts, cashew nuts and ground nuts. Soy products like soy yoghurt, soy milk, and tofu and also in soy protein supplements are also a good source of proteins.
Daily products like eggs, yoghurt, milk and cheese are few of the many sources of protein. These are natural biological source of protein that are easily absorbed by the body and is the best alternative for non-vegetarians and is available everywhere. Lean meat and fish are the richest source of proteins. Lean fish include cod, tuna and salmon whereas; lean meat includes chicken, lamb and beef. The only problem is that it is not suitable for the vegetarians. Non vegetarians should prefer considering more quantity of protein if they lack enough protein. Lean meat and lean fish can be purchased from butcher shops and many grocery stores in the market.
But many of these products are rich in cholesterol and fats also. Therefore one should wisely choose the correct option suitable for them. Other lean meats contain food like skinless turkey or chicken, and round or chuck ground beef, lentils, fish, beans and dairy products low in fat. Fruits also happen to be excellent source of protein. For a more in depth look at the health benefits of eating well, take a look at nutritionist Gillian McKeith’s web site.
Remember those school exercises that started “Compare
and contrast….yada yada yada”. Well, here’s an exercise to
get your sales brains moving.
There are major differences between how you sell in a
Regular Sales Call versus at a Trade Show. In other words,
just because you can sell well, doesn’t mean you can sell
well in the trade show environment.
I’ve identified five major areas which cause concern for
professional sales staff who have booth duty. This has
nothing to do with the ability of the sales person, only that
they often have to do a 180 to accommodate their concerns.
Above all this - note that many trade shows are not hard sell
arenas but are marketing venues. If you make a sale, it’s
probably because of hard work before the show. The
purpose of a show is to advance the sales process, so plan
where the show fits into your sales cycle, and pass these
tips along to your sales staff.
Face-to-Face Time
Regular Sales Call -
You set the schedule. You and the prospect determine the
time necessary for you to explain and/or sell. It may be 30
minutes, an hour, a half-day or more, but you have control of
the presentation.
Trade Show -
Unless you’ve made appointments prior to the show, or the
prospect puts you on its short list of exhibits to visit, you’re
lucky to get three minutes on the show floor. Why? Time is
short, and you’re either an unknown or well-known.
Location
Regular Sales Call -
You may be lucky and have the prospect in your office or
factory. Or, you’re on his turf. Or in a favorite restaurant. In
any case, it’s a familiar surrounding and you feel
comfortable.
Trade Show -
Now you’re on neutral turf. You have your company’s image
around you - name badges, signs, brochures, handouts,
give-aways, etc. Should be good news - you’re in control.
Until the visitor leaves your booth and walks over to your
competitor. (Remember, that’s the essence of a trade show
- competitors coming together to build an industry.)
Who Initiates Contact?
Regular Sales Call -
Generally, you make the first contact, so you know the
prospect’s major details - name, address, how you can
solve his problem, time frame for the sale - maybe you’ve
even toted up your commission. And if the prospects calls
you first? Great, the sales cycle is moved along even faster.
Trade Show -
Oops, here comes a stranger. With a name you don’t know,
a company you’ve probably never heard of - or if you have,
probably not that department. Now your people skills come
into play. It’s faster and more professional than a cocktail
party, more demanding than an interview and more tiring
because you repeat it all day.
Prospect Information
Regular Sales Call -
In today’s fast changing sales environment, you have good
intelligence about your prospect. You can use the
buzzwords - enterprise, cybercorp, partnering - and you can
probably adapt your sales competencies to the prospect’s
requirements.
Trade Show -
Remember, unless you’ve set up appointments with
prospects or clients, you’ve probably got a stranger standing
in front of you. Now, not only your sales competencies come
into play but your knowledge and understanding of your
industry and marketplace are challenged.
Time and Money
Regular Sales Call -
The internet has allowed companies to reduce drastically
the initial intelligence gathering costs and time frame. Make
sales proactive, not reactive. It still costs money. It still takes
time. And it’s still face-to-face.
Trade Show -
The key is follow-up. You can’t swipe a card, shake a hand
and wait for the prospect to call. People attend shows
because they’re in the same industry as you, and stopped at
your exhibit because they’re interested in your product.
Trade shows advance the sales cycle. This is a great
opportunity - don’t blow it!
When you understand that you make a 180 from your
regular job and comfort zone. then you will be more effective
at trade shows.
Julia O’Connor - Speaker, Author, Consultant - writes about
practical aspects of trade shows. As president of Trade
Show Training, inc,, now celebrating its 10th year, she
works with companies in a variety of industries to improve
their bottom line and marketing opportunities at trade
shows.
Julia is an expert in the psychology of the trade show
environment, and uses this expertise in sales training and
management seminars.
When deciding on the best bandwidth configuration to run your video conferencing on…you may think you have endless choices. Sometimes it appears that way when you may actually be limited to just a few. Here’s a comparison when your only choices are between ISDN and ADSL.
So the question than becomes this.
Which is better in the sense of connection speed and for Video conferencing between ISDN PRI (1.544Mbps) to ADSL (1.544Mbps)?
PRI ISDN T1 is the industrial strength flavor of ISDN, and is intended for users with much greater capacity requirements. PRI has 23 B channels plus one 64 Kbps D channel. Each channel has a 64Kbps capacity, enabling a total transmission speed of up to 1.536Mbps. With PRI ISDN, you can pre-define the number of channels used for specific types of calls or data delivery. What this means is that you can use the various channels for accomplishing different things on different channels simultaneously. In other words, PRI ISDN offers much greater flexibility than that provided by BRI ISDN. Additionally, the D channel is used as the switching channel that communicates with the Central Office for Call Management. It is used to carry local and long distance traffic.
An ADSL circuit connects an ADSL modem on each end of a twisted-pair telephone line, creating three information channels — a high speed downstream channel, a medium speed duplex channel, depending on the implementation of the ADSL architecture, and a POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service) or an ISDN channel. The POTS/ISDN channel is split off from the digital modem by filters, thus guaranteeing uninterrupted POTS/ISDN, even if ADSL fails. The high speed channel ranges from 1.5 to 6.1 Mbps, while duplex rates range from 16 to 832 kbps. Each channel can be submultiplexed to form multiple, lower rate channels, depending on the system.
ADSL modems provide data rates consistent with North American and European digital hierarchies and can be purchased with various speed ranges and capabilities. The minimum configuration provides 1.5 or 2.0 Mbps downstream and a 16 kbps duplex channel; others provide rates of 6.1 Mbps and 64 kbps duplex. Products with downstream rates up to 8 Mbps and duplex rates up to 640 kbps are available today. ADSL modems will accommodate ATM transport with variable rates and compensation for ATM overhead, as well as IP protocols.
Downstream data rates depend on a number of factors, including the length of the copper line, its wire gauge, presence of bridged taps, and cross-coupled interference. Line attenuation increases with line length and frequency, and decreases as wire diameter increases.
They are completely different technologies used for different things. With ADSL you are generally given Internet access and with a PRI you get 1472 kbps of usable bandwidth to be used in a combination of various ways. The key difference is that with a PRI, you never actually have to connect to the Internet as you do with DSL. Therefore, a video call doesn’t have to use IP as it most likely would with DSL. Therefore things that affect call quality like latency are generally not as a big a factor with ISDN.
Many companies still use ISDN PRIs for video conferencing to power multiple video calls simultaneously. A lot of people are now using both ISDN and Internet access via DSL/T1/T3/Cable/etc. for their video needs. Generally ADSL is far cheaper but the quality isn’t necessarily as good because the customer has little control over the path an IP call takes through the Internet, but that my friend is another conversation for another time.
